bellow and i'm grant lotus. the oakland city council as move forward with plans to bring speed cameras to that city, hoping to slow people down and hoping to make the streets a little bit safer. kron four's dan kerman has the latest. you may have already motored past a speed camera in san francisco. >> this new technology is tracking how fast drivers are going. and if it's sullivan miles or more over the speed limit, your issued a speeding citation by mail in april alone, san francisco. so over 1000 violations today. now as part of the state's same pilot program. 35 cameras are coming to the city of oakland. i believe that the implementation of this program is going to help. >> create more traffic coming just really bring a more about bring about more of an awareness of the need to slow down our speeds. the oakland cameras will be scattered across 18 locations in the city, including here along clermont avenue as well as here along broadway and 27. we have a number of our streets

that were. >> that were designed in the 70's at a time when that was about working downtown and living someplace else. and so there there they really function as highways. and as as the city has developed over time, we essentially have highways that are running to our neighborhoods. and so we want to find ways and really use every tool that there is in the box to just call the speed. oakland transportation director josh roland says the locations were selected based on their high propensity. >> for speeding and crashes and once an operation, if the data shows they're not reducing speeding, they will be moved to another location. it's not just >> generating nature take it's really about a speed reduction. >> installation of the oakland cameras is expected to start before the end of the year and be completed sometime in january of next year. dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> serious concerns. meantime, are being raised about san

francisco's vision, 0 traffic safety program adopted in 2014 vision, 0 aims to eliminate traffic deaths by 2024. but a new report from san francisco civil grand jury found 2024 was the deadliest on city streets since 2007. the finding site a sharp drop in traffic law enforcement by sfpd is a major factor. the jury says enforcement must improve to protect all road users going forward. >> pg e is monitoring for a potential preemptive power shut off in the coming days. these could affect parts of alameda contra costa and santa clara counties. the utility can shut off the power when the weather indicates there's an increased risk of fire danger. pg e's monitoring wind, low humidity levels and dry vegetation on the ground. we know how difficult it is for customers to have their power shut off proactively. so we don't do these lightly. but if we have enough of those factors, safety is our number one priority.

gaps, you know, the peaks. and this breezy all the way tomorrow. and we had a strong onshore push tomorrow. and this is not the offshore winds that we are worried about, however, because it's so strong and because we're so dry, we know these winds can fanning the flames. if a wildfire sparks. so today was the last day of the warmest day of the week. it looks like we'll be cooling down even though you know, we have some fire danger. but here are the temperature changes were anywhere between 8 almost 10 degrees at than we were this time yesterday really saw the warmer temperatures inland. 90 degrees still in livermore. and 94 in concord and santa rosa, you're still hot in the 90's as well. other that we have some 60's an 80's out there breezy at the surface here. so over the next few days, what will we will be cooling down just be keeping an eye on that wind. >> but other than at some sunny skies out there over the next few days. back to you. >> thank you. down. 5 muni bus routes will be cut back

beginning this weekend changes the move will save the san francisco municipal transit agency. 7 million dollars in the upcoming budget deficit. >> kron four's stephanie rothman explains the lines that are going to be affected. starting saturday, june 21st writer for 5 bus lines in san francisco will have to detour to get to their destinations. >> 3 lines, the 5 fulton, 9 samper do. and 31 end of market street prompting some riders to continue their trip on rapid lines on weekdays while 2 lines, 6 paper, nasa's and 21 hayes will be consolidated into a new line. call the 6 hey parnassus. we chose these lines based on customer feedback to minimize impact to our riders. >> and to make us more resilient. >> michael rocco forte with sfmta says it's a necessary step to save the agency from bigger slashes the following year, one of 2026 budget is

was found dead in their car near the palace of fine arts. this morning, the discovery was made around 10, 20. >> near baker and beech streets, really popular area with tourists. the person in the car was declared dead at the scene. no foul play is suspected at this time. in the east bay 100 to port. a potties were set on fire in east oakland last night. these are images from the oakland fire department happened on 90nd. haven't san leandro street near the bart train tracks. firefighters say it started as an outside fire and then spread to a commercial rental yard that was storing the porta potties. the fire was put out and about half hour. >> what used to be a parking lot will soon become to new affordable housing sites in san francisco, mayor daniel lurie broke ground on the sites this morning. the homes are at the intersection of the civic center, hayes valley and tenderloin neighborhoods. the 167 new homes are for low-income families, low-income employees of san francisco, unified school district and community college

district. >> today we are breaking ground on our future. a future for our families and teachers and a future where building housing in san francisco is not the exception. is the expectation. >> these housing projects will include 75 units for district employees. 92 units for low-income families. now to a follow-up to a story we brought you yesterday at the state. capitol efforts are intensifying now to urge governor gavin newsom and democratic leaders to allocate more funding for prop 36 related services and programs from 36 past. with 68% of the vote last election to increase greg drug treatment and penalties for some theft and drug crimes. but a group of sheriffs district attorneys, probation officers and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle say the 110 million dollars proposed by legislative democratic leaders is not enough to fund prop 36.

they're especially concerned about a lack of funding for county sheriff's and probation departments. >> i implore the governor and the legislative leadership to fund this proposition and observe the will of the people. the big takeaway is that we must do right by the voters. we must follow through with prop. 36 is extremely discouraging. >> the proposed budget says property 6 up to fail. all the sheriff said prepared to make the changes we need in support of this legislation. but we can't do it without funding. >> the group says the governor should allocate at least 200 million dollars for this to be successful. newsom was opposed to prop 36 arguing it could lead to mass incarceration. he was also concerned some counties would not be prepared to implement it in response to allegations, though, that the governor is not funding certain components. his office said, quote, that's false. despite predictably increasing costs, prop 36 did not contain any

funding mechanisms. nonetheless, the governor will ensure the law's operation allies and his proposed budget provided additional funding. >> developing news now, the san jose earthquakes owner john fisher is selling his major league soccer team. fisher previously explored selling minority shares in the club. but now plans to sell a controlling interest. the quakes are valued at 600 million dollars. they rank near the bottom of the league in revenue in attendance. fisher who famously recently moved the oakland athletics from the town to sacramento for now. and then eventually they say to las vegas is reportedly shifting focus as his sports holdings evolve. he's our stadium is officially the new home of a professional soccer team yesterday. san francisco supervisors >> voted on a permit to allow the golden city football club to practice and play games keys are the agreement requires the team to invest 10 million dollars into the stadium, helping to improve

people are dining al fresco. you can see the bay is nice in blue. you can see we're clear here. this is 7.30, around dinner time. you can really just see the fog just rolling in over by the coastline, but mostly clear everywhere else may be patchy fog overnight in some of the valleys. but other than that, where mostly clear and that'll be the case for tomorrow. with that cloud cover being pushed back at the coast around this time as well. because of that, we have some strong winds of this is the next weather headline. we have a strong push of some onshore flow here. that's why we're hearing about possible public safety power shut-offs in the north bay east bay. you know that with the fire prone areas that we're used to seeing that happen. but anywhere between 25 to 30 miles per hour this afternoon and into the evening. and that will be breezy tomorrow as well. so they can see upwards of 40 miles per hour wind gusts. so this is 3.30, tomorrow. so right around, you know, this time these will see some breezy conditions that looks like other than that, we're cooling down. so because

we're at, you know, warm and dry during the day with makes with those winds. that's why we are watching that elevated fire. danger. lows will be in the 50's. so these are the numbers for tonight and tomorrow morning and jumping ahead to tomorrow's highs. much cooler than today. so you could see a 10 degree drop in places like livermore in concord, everywhere else. we're looking at some 70's and upper 60's or even some 50's and 60's by the so some are once again friday. we cool down to the 70's quick warm-up sunday monday to the 80's. but, you know, we're just keeping an eye on that wind over the next few days. sounds good like to see it. thank. thank you. a free block party is taking over market street in san francisco. an staged is celebrating juneteenth tomorrow. celebration will feature live music like a brass band and samba funk. >> as well as some interactive art exhibits. this will be mid markets first entertainment zone event, which means folks can also get cocktails to go. organizers say the juneteenth

block party is a way to honor black creativity. the event will showcase many different vendors selling art and other creations. so it's just an amazing time know that happened market street. that's really a big deal of me and especially folks who are born and raised san francisco to be able downtown market. the heart of cent says those just everything. >> there will be staged a block parties on market street. every 3rd thursday of each month. that is until october. 16th. >> police in oakland say they are placing additional safety efforts around lake merritt ahead of tomorrow's juneteenth celebration. efforts come as this friday will mark a year since a mass shooting at a juneteenth event in oakland last year, 14 people were hurt there. the department's now working to try to keep tomorrow's event, they say is peaceful and respectable as possible. police are warning that illegal sales of drugs and will not be tolerated.

♪ hisamitsu® ♪ >> healthcare workers are picketing outside any children's hospital in oakland right now. union members say about 2500 current hospital and clinic employees will become ucsf employees in july. they claim though the transition will cost them about $10,000 a year because their contracts will be canceled. the national union of healthcare workers says they are already losing some longtime members over this transition. >> i currently have a free cousin medical plan that i will not have to pay for. i will about $800 a so that is very significant. >> ucsf admits some take-home pay of employees may change because they'll be contributing to health insurance and retirement pick.
