federal agents entry this morning properties at 5 starts now. appreciate you joining us tonight for kron. 4 news at 5. i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow. our top story this evening. power being shot off across multiple bay area counties. >> hundreds of customers in the east bay, specifically in clayton n livermore valley are affected this evening. really disruptive for people pg and e. >> does these power shut offs preemptively when you have the high winds and the dry conditions which? >> certainly this time of year can be troublesome with fires. you have a tree come down on a power line. all the sudden it's a real issue. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> not sure if you can hear that home, but that's a portable generator and they're very prevalent over this portion of the livermore valley. the winds and the livermore valley were being whipped into a frenzy thursday

afternoon. >> which is one of the main reasons p g is shut off power in the area in hopes of reducing the risk of downed power lines causing a wildfire. >> we can't really do anything about it. it's for safety. so as long as we have all the right measurements and can prepare. we just do what we gotta mcgrail vineyards had its power shut off at 09:30am, in the morning. but wine tasting was in full swing despite the lack of power and will continue to be thanks to this generator is powering every function at the winery needs. refrigerators, lights, computers, printers. >> everything to make day-to-day operations work. well, mcgrail vineyards has seen its power shut off before. this is the first time the livermore valleys, purple orchid resort and spa gone dark. the owners of the purple or could have been here for 14 years. and this is one of our notifications from pg e that we are having a power shut off. so something new but not something we're not prepared for. but the purple orchid had multiple generators ready to go for basic services and more

will soon be arriving to power up the entire place through the weekend. we have our days property that's in full service today. we've got our hotel with all of our rooms booked and wedding this weekend that we plan on. >> preparing for similar preparation was also in place for many other businesses in this area. >> which is comprised mostly, of course, ranch's cattle ranch vineyards and wineries. so this power shut off a certainly an inconvenience to be sure. >> but many of these businesses were ready for and they plan to see it through and keep the doors open. in the livermore valley. dan kerman kron. 4 news. >> fire crews knocked down a grass fire that spread to 4 home. send multiple outbuildings in brentwood today. 6 people were displaced. crews say the fire started about one 30 this afternoon on sunrise drive near highway 4 contra costa fire says one home was heavily damaged couple sheds were also

damaged and couple ad use suffered some damage as well. one home suffered moderate damage. 2 kennels re damaged. the red cross is assisting the 6 people who are displaced. it's not clear what caused the fire. >> a wild fire in antioch is now contained. but residents are dealing with a different mess. now take a look here. bright pink fire retardant now covers their homes and streets outside the black diamond mines are regional preserve this backyard here was spared from the flames of last night's fire. thanks to a cement ditch that separates the home from the charred black hills. you can see another person we spoke with tells us what concerns him the most about this area is the aging community members. >> gets windy around here. so the fire was really chasing down in a room with from what i understand the 3 older people up the street that had to go to hospital for smoke inhalation. so because it was pretty thick.

>> now, despite all the mess that they're having to clean up, those residents say they are very grateful. their homes, of course, are still standing. they do plan to stay vigilant in case another fire sparks. meantime, new strict fire safety standards are in place now for the city of berkeley city council unanimously adopted the new fire code amendments during tuesday night's meeting. the amber plan now bans everything flammable from within 5 feet of homes and high-risk fire areas that includes trees, shrubs, vegetation, some types of fencing and other potentially flammable items. the ordinance is focusing on about 900 to 1000 homes and panoramic hill and the grizzly peak fuel break area as well as neighborhoods that are adjacent to tilden regional park. neighbors now have less than 12 months to get in compliance. if they don't, they could be fined as much as $500 a day. >> we're talking about those preemptive power shut offs.

there is mount diablo where folks far from. there are affected and you might be home watching this and it's not windy where you live. but trust the city. so some other part, you know, get up on those hills and mountains. it is just howling those gusts. i mean, specifically golden gate bridge was howling. you know that makes that sound when those winds are really strong. gayle ong is here. >> for a look at those conditions, i guess. >> while saturday afternoon and tomorrow looks to be some stronger winds in the forecast. let's bring up the fire weather model as we are watching some elevated fire weather been talking about and it is lit up as you can see in this that yellow and orange even. >> that does indicate a slight to moderate even high risk pockets of high risk and the east bay, as you can see there by livermore. so that's right around where pg e expected to do some psp efforts. so that the case. and then overnight we get a little bit of recovery. we do see some fog in the forecast. >> inland around the coast that will help. but once that

daytime heating kicks in tomorrow afternoon, this is friday around this time. you can see the map lights up again. so the wind, yeah, it's been breezy, been watching this camera all day in san francisco at looks like the wind has. we got a little bit of a break in that picture and we did because the just about an hour goes at 30 miles per hour. now we have 17 miles per hour, but we are expected to be breezy tomorrow again and into saturday. and of course, the temperature drop. where about 20 degrees cooler in places like concord and livermore. yesterday. you're in the 90's. so tomorrow is the first day of summer. it doesn't really look like it. we're back to spring in the 70's, but we do warm up back on the sunday and next week. i'll have the seven-day forecast in a few minutes. >> thank you, gayle. another big story we're following is in los angeles where federal immigration officials we're seeing just outside dodger stadium this morning. the agents were attempting to access the stadium, but they were denied entry by the team. alina abovian reports. >> hi there. that's right. we're starting to get some clarity about exactly what

went down here this morning. but first, let's start with the dodgers. take a look at this. they put out this statement on x earlier today. just to clarify the situation for all the fans, especially considering there is a game later today. now, the team's organization has not formally acknowledged the situation, but they did put out this brief statement saying this morning ice agents came to dodger stadium and requested permission to access this parking lot. they were denied entry to the grounds by the organization and tonight's game will be played as scheduled. now in response to this, ice is saying that they are denying it was their agents. >> department of homeland security agents, however, we're in this area and this is what they had to say. take a look at this. this had nothing to do with the dodgers. cbp vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly unrelated to any operation or any enforcement. >> now the scene this morning sparking and counting a lot of attention, especially on social media. fueling speculation about raids taking place around the stadium. as

we mentioned earlier, department of homeland security vehicles with mask agents were stationed outside or near dodger stadium. however, the department making it very clear it had nothing to do with the dodgers or a planned raid. >> nonetheless, the scene adding fuel to the fire with fans and community groups still waiting for the dodgers organization to publicly address the situation in los angeles over the last few weeks, federal immigration raids began nearly 2 weeks ago. some just miles away from dodger stadium while other local teams like la fc quickly issued statements, the dodgers state silent until now. the team is expected to break that silence later today with the new initiative to support affected communities. >> well, it's the same irony. we have an immigration system right? our entire economy for agriculture, for restaurants, for construction is build off of immigration, work. and at the same time were abusing in using these immigrants, the

dodgers, you these immigrants and put them out in in as the face of the team and they make millions of dollars. but when it comes to actually supporting immigrant rights and supporting people who actually break their backs a bill, this country, then all of sudden they're quiet. >> now, as far as the federal agent vehicles being in this area, you can see from this angle. this is sky 5 earlier this morning. the vehicles leaving the vicinity. now back out here, as you can see the situation right here behind very calm at this hour, which is good news considering there is a dodgers game slated for later today. and according to the dodgers organization, that game will go on as scheduled. >> alina abovian reporting for us there. meanwhile, juneteenth celebrations are happening all over the bay area today commemorating the freeing of slaves in texas 160 years ago. >> kron four's rob nesbitt reports on an area and san francisco now dedicated to the juneteenth holiday. >> mayor daniel lurie signed

legislation last month to approve 5 new entertainment zones in san francisco. one of those is a long mid market between 5th and 6th streets where juneteenth will be celebrated. >> the excitement is building for to niche. collins is still early, but i can't wait to see everyone out here. the co-founder of sf black wall street partnered with market street arts to put on the first an staged of the year in san francisco. the entertainment zone will celebrate juneteenth featuring black artists, musicians, fashion designers, and more. we have to continue to raise the visibility of our communities. we have continue celebrate our diversity, but specifically our freedom and our liberation that switching teams about juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021. commemorating the day enslaved people in galveston, texas, found out they had been freed in 18. 65 2 and a half years after the signing of the emancipation proclamation. i asked hollins about the importance of the holiday happening. the same year that president trump has ordered diversity, equity and inclusion be removed from federal programs in schools are represented. communities are feeling it with our

history being erased with books being taken out of school with. >> you know, all kinds of executive orders being passed that directly impact our communities last year, juneteenth gatherings in oakland's lake merritt resulted in sideshows and a mass shooting that injured 14 people. holland says june 19th is more about gathering to enjoy good music and good food. >> but its never easy one. systemic racism continues. you know, difficult for people when they already have barriers. we know that people of color, specifically black folks are more likely to be justice involved. >> or have other barriers to stabilizing their lives. and then you see the axis starting to go away. it makes it hard for people. the un staged event along mid market in san francisco will be running until 07:00pm tonight it's dedicated to juneteenth, but on stage will be happening. the 3rd thursday of each month through october reporting in san francisco. i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news.

president. the trump administration says the president believes there is a substantial chance of negotiations with iran over its nuclear program but warned. >> they must make a deal before it's too late to iran. >> has never been closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon. >> overnight, iranian missile struck a hospital in israel, injuring dozens of people in this hospital. their patients born in mobile. they can even move israel's defense minister blamed and threatened supreme leader saying, quote, this man absolutely should not continue to exist. the white house says it is still in communication with it on president donald trump met with his national security team again thursday as they weigh whether use u.s. military forces to strike iran's nuclear facilities. we have an opportunity to take it out we should do that. congress is divided over how much power president trump has. don't think the president used. >> pre clearance to do one off military strikes and whether the u.s. should strike at all.

what we should be doing is trying to broker an agreement. >> the president already vetoed israel's plan to kill the supreme leader. but officials say the u.s. is still open to working with israel to strike iran's uranium enrichment facility reporting in washington. basil, john. >> president donald trump today meanwhile signed a new executive order to keep tiktok up and running for 90 more days. the move gives the administration more time to come to a deal to get the social media platform under american ownership. this marks the 3rd time the president has delayed the deadline this year. the first was on his first day in office after the app. very briefly went dark. the second time it was delayed was after a deal fell apart following the president's tariff announcement back in april. >> all right. let's talk weather as we get a live look here at the san mateo bridge. >> lot of fog looks like or maybe that's just glare. what's going on? you know, we do our and we are starting to see the clouds roll in over by the coastline, at least. but

it will see more of that overnight, which is good news because we've been dry out there now. surely help the fire weather situation we've been dealing with this week and we're both of in dealing with the winds that here, san francisco once again. >> breezy out there, you may have noticed and numbers are cooler. we have that onshore flow. so this is that air coming from the ocean. it's cooling us down about 20 degrees in places like concord livermore. 85 degrees still warm in santa rosa. still cool at the coast in half moon bay. here's the wind forecast. so we saw some stronger winds and we continue to see that as the evening goes by anywhere from 25 to 30 plus mph. even 40 miles per hour expected in our wind prone areas. so the areas shaded in purple bodega bay and then the areas shaded in red. so that does indicate 40 even 1.50 miles per hour. wind gusts. so that's the case tomorrow. tonight, tomorrow. and because of that, that's why we fire weather watch in.

that's what we're watching for fire weather. but here's the difference tonight will see some recovery a little bit little cloud cover there around the coast and inland. so we didn't see that last night. so that's good news. other not we're waking up to the 50's tomorrow. maybe some upper 40's ever by the north bay and tonorrow's highs where in the 70's and tomorrow is actually the first day of summer, the official day of summer. and it looks like we're back to spring. so i will start to warm up as the next couple of days go by. but it will just be continuing to watch those wins. and it looks like we were up again next weeks of summer will return. it's good to see. there's bit of a cool down. yeah. with the cloud cover that's going help for thanks, co-chair. >> well, kron 4 is getting back for our annual founder's day of caring this week. it's a day when nexstar stations all across the country. >> volunteer in their local communities. and this year we're highlighting the urgent need for blood donations and getting some help from heavy metal legends. that's right. metallica is in the south bay

been in a tragic accident and having platelets or bone marrow, a things can save lives. red cross spokesperson justin miller says about 20% of the charitable organizations. blood donations come from high schools and colleges. so when campuses take a break during the summer donations typically dip. the reality is that if we wait, it's too late. it's the blood that is already on the shelves when there's a need that help save a life. miller says after it gets tested, the blood collected in the south bay will be in local hospitals within a week. >> helping trauma victims requiring a transfusion. new mothers, cancer and sickle cell patients. number one reason people don't donate is that they weren't asked. so i'm asking, please schedule an appointment, go to red cross blood dot help us save some lives. so what is going towards something good and for those unable to make it to this event or red cross and metallica are building a second event at the red cross blood donation center in san francisco through friday.

new assigned seating option is coming soon. the airline plans to start implementing assigned and premium seating next year with bookings available later this year. those who select the cheapest, a basic fares. well have a seat assigned to them when they check in southwest says the new process aims to eliminate the scramble for seats and cut down on people, crowding the gate area before boarding begins. oakland airport's largest air carrier is southwest airlines. transportation secretary sean duffy is calling for more money to overhaul the nation's air traffic control system. he made the announcement this morning while touring the san diego airport traffic control tower. >> i just how are actually had a substantial leak that wasn't fixed. and they actually had to put buckets to grab the water. so the water didn't damage their air traffic control equipment. this is what were seen in america across the country.

>> on this juneteenth holiday, lawmakers in california's legislative black caucus say more work is needed to ensure reparations can become a reality for descendants of those who were enslaved kron four's capitol correspondent eytan wallace reports. >> the goal is for actual long-term repair of the harms that happened inflicted upon black california. and that's the objective, california legislative black caucus chair, san diego state senator doctor weber pierson says she and her colleagues in the black caucus seek to achieve with what they're calling the road to repair bill package. the package includes more than a dozen bills aimed at helping california descendants of enslaved black americans and the black community as a whole. all the more significant on this juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of the enslaved, some 160 years ago. if you don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it. once chattel slavery was ended here in america and there was no repair of the harms
