thanks for joining us. on friday, june 20th, which is great because if you miss juneteenth because you had to get up early like us, they're more celebrations happening this week and we'll tell you all about yeah. and the weather looks like it's gonna be on your side to cause. a lot of those activities are going to be outdoors. let's get the latest with kathy. good morning. it's a terrific day to be outside. it's still spring time until 07:42pm, tonight. >> it's a summer solstice. summer arrives this evening. it should be absolutely beautiful, but temperatures are well below normal. in fact, we're seeing some fog in half moon bay and some fog will start to clear out and we'll have some clear skies. >> temperatures right now mainly in the 50's. a few areas are in the 40's. so it's a chilly start. chilliest afternoon. believe it or not, there is enhanced concern for critical fire danger. yeah. can you believe that with all these low temperatures, it's not the cooler temperatures. of course, that's the issue. it's the gusty winds and low relative humidity that increases that fire threat and that for the inland parts of the parts of the east bay, as well as a santa clara hills.

we've got more on that coming up. but right now, let's go to rein in for traffic. all right. as you look at things, we're starting off pretty light on our roads. our highways. >> no major issues or delays or traffic building up the top prize on the bay bridge, just sort of 14 along the senate hail a richmond, sandra fell bridge a little slower still under 20 minutes. so not terribly bad. well, they're bridges at 19. remember over the weekend if you're taken bark, there are no trains between walnut creek and concord. they're working on the track so they will be providing free buses back to you. all right. thank you very much. rea to 71 is the time breaking overnight. the chp. >> at the scene of fatal crash on southbound 101. th this morning right near the 0, ralston avenue off-ramp. one hicles involved. no word on the cause of the crash or how nypeople were inside the vehicle at the time. the coroner's office is now investigating. we'll keep you updated as we learn more 7, 0, 2 is the time right now. and a stunning decision.

>> for gavin newsom, our governor, because president trump wins a federal appeals court ruled in his favor. yeah. to keep control of the national guard down in la with the white house kron four's will tran live in san francisco with more. will. >> if you think about this is a boxing match, their round 2 goes to president trump as the court right behind me. the appeals court late last night decided that president trump does have the power to keep the national guard under his control. and more importantly for california within the city of los angeles, governor newsom does not want that. we all know what's been happening over the past couple of weeks. it started with the los angeles police department, chp officers trying to handle it. and governor newsom was satisfied with that. but the president was not. he called it an invasion. that's why he called in the national guard. and he technically never talked governor newsom. he did talk to his general and get

this. here's a nuance. according to the court, they said that the fact that he talked to the general of the military, the national guard, in essence, he spoke to governor newsom. so they believe that the governor was notified. now, take a look at your screen. this decision came down late last night. so if you went to bed, you probably didn't hear about it. if you're waking up, here is what president trump has to say. everybody has a social media account, right? i won't read to all of it. but he says big win in the 9th circuit court of appeals on the president's core powered call in the national guard. if our cities and our people need protection, we are the ones to give it to them should state and local police be unable for whatever reason to get the job done. >> of course, his adversary, governor newsom. he also took to social media as well. here's what he had to say. he says donald trump is not a and not above the law. tonight, the court rightly rejected trump's claim that he can do

whatever he wants with the national guard and not have to explain himself to a court. we will not let this authority authoritarian use of military soldiers against citizens go unchecked and like a boxing match, guys, you know, it's filled with many rounds and according to legal experts, the last round went to president trump. but this could go all the way they say 2 united states supreme court. back to you. all right. thank you. will. well, right now, several east bay communities are without power because of wildfire risks. pgd triggered their public safety power shutoff. >> protocols for the areas that you see on your screen highlighted in pink. they include communities in alameda contra costa and santa clara counties pg e does these power shut offs when they anticipate high winds and dry conditions and basically high fire threat in the area. they don't want their lines there. power lines to come down and spark a fire. so they turn off the power to those lines.

>> time now is 705. and so as time ticks by without power, we want to know and those who have. nope, i want to know come back on. turns out, not until sunday at 4. yeah. many in livermore, especially the livermore valley. >> east of the downtown area where a lot of business owners are dealing with this right now. they say luckily they are prepared because of >> years past. yeah, that means generators. you know that right? kron four's dan kerman has more. know if you can hear that sound. but it's a portable generator. >> and they're very prevalent over this part of the livermore valley. the winds in the livermore valley were being whipped into a frenzy thursday afternoon, which is one of the main reasons pga shut off power in the area in hopes of reducing the risk of downed power lines causing a wildfire. >> we can't really do anything about it. it's for safety. so as long as we have all the right measurements and can prepare. we just do what we gotta mcgrail vineyards had its power shut off at 09:30am, in the morning. but wine

tasting was in full swing despite the lack of power and will continue to be thanks to this generator is powering every function at the winery needs. refrigerators, lights, computers, printers. >> everything to make day-to-day operations work. well, mcgrail vineyards has seen its power shut off before. this is the firkt time the livermore valleys, purple orchid resort and spa has gone dark. the owners of the purple or could have been here for 14 years. and this is one of our notifications from pg e that we are having a power shut off. so something new but not something we're not prepared for. but the purple orchid had multiple generators ready to go for basic services and more will soon be arriving to power up the entire place through the weekend. we have our days property that's in full service today. we've got our hotel with all of our rooms booked and wedding this weekend that we plan on. >> preparing for similar preparation was also in place for many other businesses in this area. >> which is comprised mostly,

of course, ranch's cattle ranch vineyards and wineries. so this power shut off a certainly an inconvenience to be sure. but many of these businesses have prepared for it and plan for and they're ready to see it through and keep the doors open until it's over. >> in the livermore valley, dan kerman kron, 4 news. >> there was a grass fire in brentwood and it did make it to some homes. fire crews say it broke out around one 30 in the afternoon yesterday at sunrise drive near highway 4. 2 hos were damaged and that fire has since been knocked out. the red cross is helping 6 people who have been displaced. we also have an update on that big fire that was burning in antioch that we covered live here on the kron. 4 morning news all yesterday while they were trying to get a handle on it, it was at 80%. then now it is contained and you can see how close it came to that fence line and to the neighborhood and now neighbors are cleaning up. look at the flames in that backyard.

neighbors are cleaning up all the fire retardant. but that's better than going back and sifting through the rubble of their homes. this is near the black diamond mines, regional preserve. and again, those homes were preserved by the firefight, which is good. and so the people really just our thankful that nobody was hurt and that they have their stuff. >> gets windy around here. so the fire was really chasing down into a room with from what i understand the 3 older people up the street that had to go to hospital for smoke inhalation. so because it was pretty thick. >> you could see that thick smoke will tran was out there live talking about it and the firefight and again, the neighbors are just grateful that their homes are standing and that they're okay. >> and we ask you now to please join us in a moment of silence. you know, lorenzo is memory. >> in south bay community coming together to remember a teen who was killed in a crash. 17 year-old alonzo alvarez died in a crash in

hollister on june 14th. he was driving home the very day. he graduated from christopher high school in gilroy. his family and friends and neighbors all held a candlelight vigil to remember him. according to the gofundme page for the teen's family, alvarez was the youngest of 3 and he had the dream of becoming a firefighter. happening right now. the chp is looking for the driver of this speeding car that they tried to pull over see him going through the intersection there. officers released this dash camera footage of them after this car had illegal window tint. they tried pulling over, but instead he ended up speeding off the chase for a brief time went on eastbound 5.80, right near park boulevard in oakland. one point the driver got up to 120 miles per hour going the wrong way. that's when the chp stopped the chase. they did later find that car later in the morning. again, that driver, those still on the loose.

>> 7.10, right now. and here's a peek at some juneteenth celebrations yesterday. they were all around the bay. this is in downtown san francisco. this is market street where the community gathered to celebrate. it has been 160 years since slavery was abolished. and this day has evolved into a holiday and a day dedicated to celebrating black liberation and joy. this block party and had black artists, musicians, fashion designers and more. >> the raise the visibility of our communities. we have to continue celebrate our diversity, but specifically our freedom and our liberation that switching teams is about. >> and this juneteenth event is part of a series of events called an staged in san francisco, which happened every 3rd thursday of the month through october where you are allowed to party basically in the streets, which is pretty cool. and there are more juneteenth celebrations will tell you about later here on the kron. 4 morning news. but also coming up in the north bay.

each other. the east bay are coming together to heal in san leandro. the founder of this movement is lorraine taylor. she suffered a great loss when her 22 year-old twin sons were killed in oakland in february of 2000. she battled depression for years and then turn that pain into a purpose. she founded 1000 mothers to prevent violence. >> and it's been really hard. to relive. that day. we are just looking for ways to. support one another. walking this one way. that's the way i. and i deal with my grief to walk together to embody healing through exercise and comraderie part of the reason. why did the walk for healing? >> if you've never tried it, they say please come out and join them. you don't have to talk. you can just walk the mourning. mothers, walk for

winds are especially concerning in terms of the fire weather. and we do have a little bit of cloud cover at the san mateo county coastline. these low clouds go away quickly. we're just basically dry across the entire bay area, especially inland relative humidities in some areas such as concord down to 34% 30% in fairfield. 38% napa. 35% in santa rosa. that's not good. we've got again. the gusty winds, very dry conditions, dry grasses, lots of fuel. that's not our friend. here's why we're cold. this big old area of low pressure. this trough right across california bring has continued cool temperatures as we head into the very first weekend of summer. and it's going to be cool and that's probably good in terms of fire weather even across the entire state. we're not seeing any highs in the triple digits. hardly any in the 90's. i see pretty much 80's 60's and 70's right along the coastline. and our temperatures also kind of mimic that 50 60's along the coast, 60 70's inland, a few 80's, 3 day forecast. it's

appointment at possible thing a red cross blood dot org call 1, 800 red-cross or download our donor app. you make your appointment on the donor actually cause you what hospital goes to really cool feature. and when you get here personally, what happens we do a registration? we have you read some of our educational material. we do many physical. so nice. little pro for the donor check your pulse temperature, your blood pressure, your iron levels. interesting questions. of the donor bad batch blood draws only about 5 to 10 minutes, but our for the whole process because you and our canteen, has some juice. and some thick is my favorite part. the buffet comes this next. yet very cool. and then platelets. also that's a different process, right? what? what goes on there? yes, if it lets us a little bit different platelets last 5 days and goes to cancer patients, those are the beds right behind kron 4 streaming over here, which is pretty cool. nice. and it's a two-hour process. we take your blood. we separate the component to give you back your red cells in your and keep 3 times amount of platelets for cancer patients. okay. now, what about the person watching around saying i've never done that sounds scary. blood makes me nervous when you tell them. yeah.

restrictions on immigration raids at workplace sites that rely on heavily undocumented labor places that have many workers that are on document of farms, hotels, restaurants, boaters are tom homan says that the rays are about enforcement, not politics. he acknowledges, though, a lot of industries are hiring these people in relying on them. >> you were even 5 hotels, but based part-time basis, criminals come first. radical democrats will no longer be allowed to shelter illegal to threaten public safety as part of their cynical efforts to expand political power. trump has been ordering federal agencies including ice to particularly expand their efforts in democratic cities. >> and that's drawn a lot of criticism from those who say that that is a political move and it's unconstitutional and deeply troubling. >> meanwhile, the state department has resumed student

visa processing. then this comes after a one-month suspension. but still those wishing to pursue their academic goals here in the u.s. will be under tougher scrutiny. so anybody applying for scholarly exchange or research visas will have their online presence scrutinized, including a review all their social media. the state department under president trump says that applicants will have to make their profiles public and u.s. consular offices are going to be screening for. and this is with the state department says, quote, any indication of hostility towards the citizens culture, government institutions or founding principles of the united states, end quote. >> 7.37 right now we want to get to a big story, which is the simmering dispute in los angeles after the dodgers blocked ice agents from getting into the stadium. yeah, dodger stadium there and now the department of homeland security is firing back. we've got to alina abovian with our

sister station in los angeles with the story. >> we're just here trying to document as much we can. it's a big disappointment to see the dodgers turned her back on those. a crowd gathering outside the gates of dodgers stadium after news spread on social media. >> of a possible ice rate happening at chavez ravine. >> our businesses are hurting. our people are under attack. and the largest economic engine in this area. >> it's silent, but it was a false alarm. the dodgers team quickly issuing a statement on x ice. agents came to dodger stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots. they were denied entry to the grounds by the organization. tonight's game will be played as scheduled. but it was an ice. the agency quickly replying with the words false. turns out the agents were california border patrol, homeland security clearing up the matter, saying this had nothing to do with the dodgers. cbp vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly unrelated to any

operation or enforcement to let the same irony. we have an immigration system right? >> our entire economy for agriculture, for restaurants, for construction build off of immigration, work. and at the same time were abusing in using these immigrants, the dodgers, you these immigrants put them out in in as the face of the team. and according to our network affiliate news nation, california border patrol went to the hollywood home depot nearby to make apprehension after they did. they were going to transfer those in custody to transport vans off a sunset boulevard. >> but when things escalated outside a home depot, they went to an open parking lot of dodgers stadium to make the consolidated transfer. nonetheless, the scene adding fuel to the fire with fans and community groups still waiting for the dodgers organization to publicly address the situation while other teams like la fc quickly issued statements, the dodgers states silent until now. and i think that specifically raids and everything and seeing so many people terrorize like this is
