council member representing downtown. i was a little surprised by the early been feeling very heartened by all of the support from the community surprised as his opponent, debi lopez had a commanding lead back in april. that lead was steamrolled tuesday. just 14% of voters turned out that they were determined to make their voices heard. politics is very important because >> a look at the national level or anywhere else at the local levels where we really have the power to make change. i think the results tonight show folks are for a new type politics raging bull divide between business and labor is really focused on delivering results on housing, affordability and homelessness. perdio says his next steps are to build a team to deliver on his policies to solve homelessness and housing affordability. find areas of common ground that we can push forward actual policy to make progress on the issues that matter most to voters. district 3 first opened up in november with disgraced councilmember omar torres was arrested later convicted of child molestation. says he plans to build back trust to keep that focus on directly engaging with folks, you know,

at a special board meeting today in all 5 supervisors voted in favor of accepting the recommendations of the county's chief probation officer to remove corpus for misconduct. a report released last year found the sheriff at a personal relationship with her chief of staff and that together they, quote, created a hostile retaliatory and abusive work environment. the sheriff now has 5 days to appeal and called for a full hearing where evidence will be presented. if that does happen, a final decision could be several months from now. >> not concerned with. >> the >> speed. what i'm concerned with is that it's a fair process. >> and i'm committed to ensure enough. the president, the board of supervisors. that's a fair process and making sure that we move forward in the >> transparent and open way.

>> attorneys for the sheriff saying she will to release a statement that reads in part, i'm not going anywhere. i was elected by the people of san mateo county and i will continue to serve them with the integrity, courage and commitment that this office demands. >> oakland's naacp and parents usd are threatening to recall school board members. they argue the board has done a bad job involving the community in its decision making the issues escalated when the board fired superintendent kyla johnson-trammell and hired a replacement in a closed door meeting. >> the students deserve more them back politics and budgetary chaos. that's right. >> they deserve arie. collaborative and still center leadership. >> some board members have responded and say the public outcry must be addressed. >> in the east bay tonight, oakland has a good vegetation management plan during fire season, but it needs to

improve its emergency access. that's according to the newly released alameda county civil grand jury report. kron 4 sarah stinson has reaction from residents tonight. worries that people are not going to cure their properties are clear what they need to clear. and then if there is a fire that they're going to get in the for joseph is am wildfire season is top of mind living in a high fire risk area. the oakland hills, these neighborhoods have a steep and forested terrain with winding narrow streets. >> no parking signs have been put in place to ensure there's space for people to evacuate. but people ignore those signs daily. you get stuck for 5.10, minutes sometimes and that's without everything trying leave the same time. sympathetic people who meet the park. but i think that there's a safety issue here. the alameda county grand jury just released a report recommending the city expand parking restrictions on narrow streets and increase enforcement in high fire risk areas. and it's not consistently enforced. there are no parking signs on both

sides of heather ridgeway here. so we >> parked our car on this side to show you if people parked illegally on both sides. this is how little space there would be for people evacuating during a fire or for fire trucks. >> i mean, what people do for parking up here? it's pretty slim pickings. and a spokesperson for the fire department. michael hunt says residents should expect more enforcement in the summer months. park like your life depends on we want to make sure that >> you and your neighbors are part in such a way where you're going to be able to get out quickly. so that's typically facing out that you're leaving plenty of room, a long, narrow corridors to make sure the person up around us can get in the grand jury report did find the fire department does a thorough job. mitigating fire risks. >> local fire department has probably one of the most robust active fire prevention plans in the state of california largest herd of goats that's probably operating in the state. upwards of 5500 goats that we deploy between may and october. we inspect upwards of

we certainly had a lot of gray white along the coastline. there is a flood alert which is curious because we didn't have any rain today. but what happened was we have astronomical high tides. they happened in the summertime. they happen in the wintertime. so in and flood alert right along the san francisco san pablo bays until 01:00am tomorrow morning. in the meantime, look at all the fog line along the coastline blanketing the bay area overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. right now, back to you. >> iran and israel cease-fire deal is on shaky ground. this morning, president trump accused both sides striking each other violating the agreement which was set to go into effect overnight. iran denies it violated the terms of the deal, though, however, explosions were heard in northern israel tuesday morning. israel confirms it did return fire. now president trump says the deal is holding and israel says it's now refraining from more strikes. senate democratic leader chuck schumer says the president should have never launched

saturday's strike in iran without consulting congress. senator lindsey graham says he just hopes the president's plan works. >> sees far leads to rearmament rearming and grouping of iran is probably a step backwards. they called me up and said we're taking imminent action. can't tell you what country. that's the extent of the briefing. i've got. president trump is now in the netherlands for the nato summit. >> the 12 day conflict in the middle east did spark protests as world leaders arrived there, france and others calling for de-escalation to prevent a broader war in the middle east. well, with all this unrest that's happening in that part of the country. >> people here in the bay area are worried about an increase of anti-semitism and islamophobia. there's already been a few anti semitic attacks here in san francisco, including one that happened 2 weeks ago where a jewish person was attacked in the marina. members of both communities share what's being done to keep people say fun,

>> welcome back. fun family outing turns tragedy on lake tahoe. 3 of the 8 victims who died in a boating accident over the weekend from the bay area conference. theresa has the very latest. >> we are hearing from the widow of one of the victims, josh pickles, within tahoe with his father and mother. they were from redwood city. plus an uncle. they were 3 of the 8 people who died when their boat capsized. >> this is josh pickles and jordan sugar. carl's guard, a family spokesperson shared this photo with kron 4 news they married in 2023. this is from their wedding registry. the couple owned the 27 foot

chris craft power boat that capsized last saturday during a violent storm on lake tahoe on tuesday, the eldorado sheriff's office released the names of the 8 people that died in the accident. pickles worked for doordash is a senior global director. carl's guard stayed behind saturday to care for the couple's 7 month-old daughter. when the group went out onto the lake, the group had gathered at the couple's tahoe home for the weekend to celebrate josh's mother bozin of itches 71st birthday. >> the family is just devastated. their friends or the stated. it's unthinkable. unimaginable moment in time. >> pickles, father terry was another victim as well as peter bays and uncle 2 people on board survived and were taken to the hospital. they are deeply thankful to the first responders and the rescue teams from the coast guard, eldorado sheriff's department was keen county sheriff's departments, all the lifeguards who

>> risk their own lives who succeeded saving 2 of the 10 members of vote. in a statement to kron 4 news, josh, his widow says, quote, we are devastated by this tragedy. no words can express the pain and anguish. we feel. >> knowing their lives were lost during what was meant to be a joyful time on the lake. our hearts go out to those who tragically lost their lives and the 2 survivors of this unexpected and deadly storm on lake tahoe. again, josh work and doordash in a statement sent to kron 4 news at ces. >> that they are devastated by the death of josh pickles. it goes on to say that quote, during his nearly 7 years a doordash, he brought a contagious spirit. the lifted those around him. the loss of josh is measurable. we miss him deeply and will carry his memory with us. always. the 2 survivors suffered hypothermia when the boat flipped over. there isn't any word right now on their condition in the newsroom. theresa kron, 4 news.

>> lake tahoe bear deemed aggressive has been euthanized according to the department of fish and wildlife around 4.30, saturday morning, the female bear broke into a campers trailer. that eagle point campground the camp or try to scare the bear off by banging on pots and pans and screaming. but the bear force its way in and took a swipe at the camp are leaving them with cuts and bruises. authorities say they've tracked this bear and it had been breaking into homes and cars since the spring. it was captured yesterday and euthanized. the bear had to 5 month-old cubs. they have been taken to a wildlife rehab facility. >> 5 people including 3 teenagers are under arrest in san jose after a series of burglaries and attempted carjackings. police say the crime spree happened between december and march. the suspects would use stolen cars to break into businesses by either ramming through the door or tying a change to the door and ripping it off. mayor matt mahan says the adults

involved in the crimes attempted to sell those stolen goods. investigators say the crimes were well planned in advance for the first 5 months of this year. >> this gang of juveniles behind the wheel cause chaos and fear in our community rapidly targeting san jose, santa clara and sunnyvale. they stole cars, carjack citizens race through city streets smashed through more than 15 storefronts crash cars guns at police officers. >> police have also identified 3 other teens suspected in the crime spree. they say those teenagers had already been arrested on other crimes. and now the da is seeking additional charges. >> beginning tomorrow 5 month, road maintenance project on the golden gate bridge. every wednesday, potholes and asphalt will be repaired on the bridge. 2 center lanes will be closed. maintenance will be in the middle of the day on wednesdays from 10:00am to 01:00pm. if the weather on

wednesday is does not permit workers to complete their tasks, those lane closures will be moved to thursday. the maintenance is expected to conclude by november. >> all right. so let's get a check. the forecast now as we're taking a live look at the golden gate bridge this evening. we noticed a little bit earlier and some of the clouds and fog kind of moved out. yeah, it was very thick earlier this but as night falls, that kind of >> clears out of yeah. kron 4 meteorologist kathy trafton has the details. richards today were a lot cooler than normal in some areas because of stratus. we had a lot of clouds and fog right along the coastline. if you are there, you notice but also in london that helped keep temperatures on the cool side. today. we had temperatures anywhere from 8 to 14 degrees below normal. >> in half moon bay is 58 degrees. typically we would be at 72 degrees and in san francisco, 59, we would have been at 67. you can see for yourself. these numbers are on the cool side for this time of

year. and that's all thanks to this area of low pressure. it's a big trough and it's stretching right across the golden state. it starts to flatten out. move away. we get more of a zonal flow in the middle of the week, but we never really get a big ridging. so we get a gradual warm up. it's just little by little tomorrow. temperatures in san francisco, mainly in the 60's, although in the sunset, 59 degrees along the coast. we're looking at some numbers just close to 60 upper 50's on the peninsula tomorrow. it's going to be mainly in the 60's and we warm up a little bit as we head southward as per usual. 74 degrees in palo alto will get into 70's and even a few 80's as we start heading down toward saratoga. 84 la status today to me. but most inland areas will be mainly in the 60's and 70's. a few be livermore. 84 degrees in concord. 85 that richmond, only 69 and 74 in vallejo, napa, 80 degrees, 80 degrees also for santa rosa and point
