time for a check of the forecast. news 3 is your weather authority and chloe is here with a very chilly day but it's not going to last for long. >> i'm sure many people woke up with the sweaters already on and layering up with the jacket. you are gonna shed the jacket later this week. it looks beautiful outside but it feels cooler than what we're used to. still great. mostly sunny skies in las vegas. here is what we woke up to, though. a lot of people were shocked. they were like oh, myod we're supposed to be in the low 50s. many of you were lucky with mid- to upper 50s. why does it feel so cold? because october was abnormally warm for this time of year. 73.9 was the average. we're normally at 69.5. that's actually the fifth warmest october since those records have been kept by the national weather service. that's why you woke up feeling extra chilly. here is a look at what happened. we started off with a nice

you can see diminishing throughout the day. outside we've got the temperatures mostly in the 60s and 70s. 74 degrees for the southeast. 67 in summerlin and winds for right now are fairly light, are expected to pick up more by tomorrow. we're coming in at 70 degrees near crestwood elementary school. one of our more than 100 weather stations around here. warmer near gowen and outside the valley in the 40s on the mountain. 68 for pahrump. also 6 -- 60 for sandy valley. low pressure is what brought our temperatures down briefly for today. we're actually expecting some warmer weather over the next few days. the biggest part of our weather story this afternoon was mostly the clouds we started off with

the cooler temperatures. winds will develop out of the north tomorrow. that will feel, 10, 20 miles an hour is what our wind speeds will be. looking into the far east of us, we have a few showers that are expected to develop mostly over arizona. we'll stay dry as that system falls apart. regional lows tonight will be cool again like this morning. 54 for overton. a few degrees above the freezing mark in mount charleston. 40 degrees for pahrump and highs tomorrow,l up the dial on those temperatures slightly for now. wait until you see this weekend. 79 for overton. flirting with the 80s at lake mead. overnight in las vegas, we're looking at lows around 56 degrees. so similar compared to what we saw last night. still above normal but it's gonna be chilly. you will want to wear a jacket if you are gonna be out anywhere tonight. winds will pick up by early tomorrow morning. very early in the morning. 10, 15 miles an hour.
