[laughter] and the man behind the wheel of this truck was driving more than 100 miles an hour. why troopers let him off with a warning. well, the lights of the las vegas strip are twinkling bu a massive power outage forces visitors and workers out of that resort and they will be out for the rest of the night. i'm reed cowan. >> i'm latoya silmon. it's our top story tonight and news 3's antonio castelan has been on the scene all day hearing from investigators about the chaos. >> reporter: the paris hotel & casino has been shut down. no one has any idea when power will be back. it's been a very frustrating day for hotel guests. >> all of the lights are off.

just after the lights went outat the paris. >> we thought it was temporary. they wouldn't let anybody deal any words or do anything. my friend was sitting at a slot machine and had a thousand dollars in there and waiting for two hours. >> reporter: clark county firefighters say a contractor working in the paris basement cut a main power line leading to the power outage. firefighters needed to rescue 11 people from five differen paris hotel & casino. linda from new york was one of the guests who found herself stuck in an elevator. >> going down the stairs and then it was all black. i couldn't see anything. and then i don't know what happened. >> reporter: steve wilson from los angeles found himself in a dark hotel room. after about 45 minutes, hotel staff started to evacuate guests. >> the bad thing, the hotel didn't have anybody out telling you what to do, to leave the room, to stay in the room.

>> when you get to the hallway, if you didn't have a cell phone or flashlight, you couldn't seep. >> reporter: caesars entertainment officials say so far, nevada energy has not been able to restore temporary power. clark county says without proper, their tools don't work and the property will have to remain they say, to get guests into other ceasers properties. antonio castelan, news 3. police in indianapolis investigating a crash that killed two people. a witness said the car was speeding when it lost control, crashed into a tree and caught fire. the car involved in the crash was a tesla and fire officials say that made the fire more difficult to fight because of how many batteries inside the car caught fire or exploded. police could not say whether

a henderson man who volunteered to help several mormon families is accused of sexually targeting a 10-year-old girl. had 3-year-old martin guillen inappropriately touched a young girl, took photos of her and said it's our little secret. the family met him since he volunteered as a home teacher. >> she knew him and said he was doing a scavenger hunt and needed it her to help him. >> there's been no evidence whatsoever of any pornographic material in possession of my client. >> what many families didn't know, was he was a man with a criminal past. remains behind bars under roughly $500,000 bail. a man killed by a nevada

custody before he led police on a car chase. >> reporter: police say javier munoz should have never been behind the wheel. he had a revoked driver's license. he told the officers he was high on drugs and wanted to die. what you are seeing is dash-cam video. a ne on u.s. 95 chasing a violent carjacking suspect. behind the wheel, 28-year-old javier munoz. >> 80 miles an hour. he is fishtailing all over the road. >> reporter: they capture him at a gas station near downtown las vegas. he punches a woman and steals her car. the trooper catches up with him at this cadillac dealership in henderson. >> he bails in the parking lot, runs into the vehicle dropoff or pickup for finley.

got a 90-year-old couple in there and, like i said, violent pulls this man from his vehicle. >> i will shoot you. [ screaming ] >> i'm dead! >> reporter: it turns out the day before his deadly crime spree, he was pulled over for speeding through a school zone in boulder city. he took off, police gave chase. when they caught up with him, munoz told the officers to shoot him, that he was high on spice. -- meth, marijuana, ecstasy and spice. >> he didn't assault anybody or rape somebody. obviously, he was in medical distress. >> reporter: the police chief said officers brought him to boulder city hospital and eventually, he was transferred to valley hospital. >> the doctor told the officer he will be here for a few days. >> reporter: but the next day he was out of the hospital and

now. she's our weather authority with what's shaping up to be an excellent day and week ahead. >> i would say it's like a gift. you are welcome, everybody. it's gonna be fantastic. if you liked today, you will like tomorrow. speaking of today, here's what it looked like in case you were hiding under a rock and missed it. it's hard to find a cloud in our skyline today. but you can see a few developing from our boulder city camera this afternoon elsewhere. across the las vegas valley. very nice weather conditions today. it doesn't even feel like fall outside even right now. but highs today, look at that. in the 80s. the 80s. it's fall outside. temperatures well above normal for this time of year. we're supposed to be in the low 70s outside right now. that's where we are currently in the evening. so just to kind of put things into perspective. that's how warm it's supposed to

we did see some breezes up to 20 miles an hour in some neighborhoods. earlier this afternoon, we're in the upper 70s for lake mead. 68 degrees for pahrump and the low 40s for mount charleston. and winds outside are fairly calm for tonight. a beautiful look at the strip in las vegas. we're looking at gorgeous weather conditions that will continue across the area. now, we are tracking some activity, some storms popping up across arizona. you can see it over flagstaff and kingman over the last few hours. that s continue moving east. we're also keeping our eye on this area of low pressure. this will continue to move inland into the coast. not bringing too much impact into our area. some showers are expected across northern california, portions of northern and central nevada. we're mostly going to see breezes pick up by the end of the weekend. overnight tonight, look for mostly clear skies. lows in the low 60s when we're supposed to be in the low

40 for mount charleston. 48 for pahrump and 59 for overton. high temperatures tomorrow, if you like today, you will like tomorrow. it will be the same kind of thing. in las vegas we'll wake up to temperatures in the low 60s. not quite as cool as how we started off this morning. 68 degrees by 9:00. by the time you grab lunch, we'll be in the mid-70s. you will probably be wearing a sh 81 degrees tomorrow afternoon in las vegas. very unfall-like for this time of year. and that warming trend, well, it's just gonna kind of continue. look at that. 80s across the board for the next several days. the only thing i really have to point out and talk about is setting your clock back one hour on sunday. we'll see temperatures gradually dedecrease. you can see that kicking up our wind speeds.
