figure out their poling places. >> all throughout school i was excited knowing i would be a first-time voter. >> reporter: those in charge of the polls are picking up everything they need to make it a smooth process tomorrow. >> we'll have officers frequenting polling sites to ensure that they are safe. >> reporter: voters' safety, a top priority for metro police. >> at this time, we've not received any intelligence in type of disturbance or incident at any polling site here in clark county. >> reporter: the right to vote is a privilege. >> people literally have died for this right. people have gone to prison for this right. >> reporter: it's a right that comes with rules. michael green explains it best. >> the more you can do to make sure the process is clean, the better you are doing as a citizen.

that's the initiative that would expand gun background checks in nevada. steve wynn originally supported the initiative. gave $50,000 to question 1 supporters. but after a visit from two of his executives, he went back and says he found the new rules much too restrictive and creates too many situations that would lead to a person having their right to bear arms taken away. >> i think that any time that we restrict the constitutional rights of anyiz grounds on which such disqualification and being listed in a criminal registry should be very precise, clear-cut, and leave no ambiguity or arbitrary enforcement to some bureaucrat. >> wynn says he will vote against question 2 because he says it's easy for children to get their hands on edible

>> reporter: this metro captain said these bridges help keep 0 traffic moving smoothly. last night, police say three men got into a night that very muched into gunfire. metro security cameras posted along the strip helped capture the shooting. >> no one was actively running that camera until after the incident occurred and they helped coordinate with the police officers out there in the field in determining the path of egress of the suspect so t take him into custody. >> reporter: 26-year-old rashaud jackson was arrested and charged with attempted murder, a battery. and this tourist was walking along the bridges with his wife and he said he's seen some shady activity along the strip. >> i've felt threatened walking around at night. >> reporter: why is that? >> just coming down here and street people hitting you up for everything. >> reporter: police say the

provide potential criminals a bird's-eye view. >> because they are high ground, they afford people the ability to see the police coming. >> reporter: so they employ plain clothes officers. uniform officers also provide a show of course that gary says is comforting. >> we've seen them in the cars. >> is that reassuring? >> absolutely. we've heard a lot of stories about vegas but really enjoyed it. >> metro says everyone involved in the shooting local. so no tourists were effected. the two men shot were taken to umc and are affected to survive. sergio avila, news 3. >> thank you. a california man learns his fate after killing a teenaged boy outside patrol apartment complex. this morning jimmy robinson learned he could spend 20 years behind bars. at the same time, he apologized to the victim's family in court. a jury convicted him of killing tiyvonne taylor mills in october last year. surveillance video shows the

after tiyvonne taylor mills' death his mother committed suicide on her son's grave. they asked the court for a lengthy prison term for jimmy robinson. >> this is the killer that needs to spend as much time as the court can give him to reflect on all of the killing he's done and to think about all of the damage he's prout to so many -- brought to so many unfortunate family members. >> robinson had just been robbed when he opened fire and didn't mean to kill anyone. he pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter earlier this year. let's take a look at your traffic times. if you are planning to vote in the final hour tomorrow night, this will give you an indication of how long it will take you to get around town. we see the normal slowdowns there as you cross the airport and then as you approach the

tom lawhy -- hawley spotted trouble on the surface streets. >> reporter: yes. i saw the lights flashing from the distance with a report of an accident here. but it looks like they may have stopped at the scene and kept on going. it was reported on sahara to the west of decatur. it looks like whatever was there has been pulled to the shoulder. on the west end of charleston, you have this one at charlest traffic squeezing by on one side so it's eastbound charleston at the top of your screen and northbound coming in from the left side of your screen. watch out for that one as well. a number fender-benders causing problems. tom hawley reporting. >> jim aptly pointed out the travel times on the road tonight, whether that's an indication of whether it will look like that tomorrow. let's talk about if you are going to vote for donald trump

none of the above is an option. jeff gillan was at unlv talking to some young voters about what they think of election 2016. how is it going to go down in the history books? >> reporter: i don't know. it certainly will be one for the -- for the history books. for many of these young voters this is their first or second presidential election. what a so we took part today in a town hall with our fellow sister stations in the broadcasting network. i came here and i found some undecideed voters and some voters who just made up their mind. kaitlyn calls herself a conservative. >> i don't know. i've weighed both options especially from my parents, one is on one end, one is on the other. i was johnson for quite a

hillary? could you go trump -- >> if i had to make a decision right on the stop, i think i would go with trump over hillary just because i tend to lean more con-- conservatively. >> reporter: you were undecided. you went with clinton. >> i felt obligated to do so, i guess ensure victory but i found policies that i leave, that's really important to me. >> reporter: and so those are just some of the few young voices we heard from from unlv. the young man you just heard from was thinking of going for johnson. he finally went for hillary clinton. if you are interested, you can watch our town hall. go to news3lv.com. my final note here, to give you an indication of just how interested students are, the

welcome back. a homeowner stabs a home invader. it happened sunday night near maryland and charleston. news 3's antonio castelan joins us live near the home and how did the criminal get inside the house and how did this one end? >> reporter: reed, the home invader broke into the house through this window. the homeowner tells us that the suspect was inside about 10, 15 minutes. arvi remmelg will never forget the time a robber was cooking sausage in his own kitchen. >> i smelled, like, cooking, like, and after that came to approach. i stab him. >> reporter: this is the pocketknife arvi remmelg used. he claims he jammed it right into the robber's chest as the robber opened his bedroom door.

but to the chest and he starts to plead because i -- i don't know. i didn't stab him very hard. >> reporter: the robber ran away. police checked local hospitals and found reports -- no reports of a man with a stab wound to the chest. >> i screamed get out of here. >> reporter: this happened near charleston and maryland sunday night. thiso arvi remmelg. she can't believe this happened. >> it's scary. kind of nerve-racking. i'm single. live alone. >> reporter: arvi remmelg doesn't know the suspect, he says, he says it was too dark to get a description. he said he will be ready in the robber comes back again. >> it's disgusting actually when somebody -- breaking in and trying to make your food. >> reporter: the man cooking sausage, he left with nothing.

calm. look how still the water is. we haven't had much in the wind department for the last couple of days. twain/maryland parkway area, 73. down near eastern, already falling to 66. and up at faith lutheran, charleston, they are at 68. the rest of the temperatures across the valley, we are seeing mid- to upper 60s around the edges, but still the heart of town, east side, low to mid-70s. we saw a couple of neighborhoods max out at 844. 844 -- 84. several 83s. outside of the valley, it's 67 in overton. 71 in sandy valley. high temperatures as warm as death valley. at mccarran, the top temperature climbed to the big 8-0. fourth time we've done that this month. in fact, the record for 80-degree days during the month of november is 8 because saturday only hit 79. i don't think we'll get there.

to -- in the moderate category. extra junk in the air. but that's set eled back down to the good level. 62 for tuesday. we're heading up to 80 at lunchtime. we'll peak in the lower 80s. like the last couple of days, not much at all as far as the -- as far as the wind is tomorrow in the battleground states. nothing major. just a few showers. we're clear. big area of high pressure which is acting as a shield. these clouds are going up into canada. it's possible later this week, we could get a couple high clouds but the temperature will stay well above normal for the entire period. 49 in indian springs. 58 in boulder city. high temperatures, looking at 84 in mesquite. laughlin, heading to 89.
