it is game day super bowl 50 is here. underway right now in santa clara. we are live outside levi stadium. >> and investigators are searching for answers after two people are featally shot when a -- fatally shot when a fight gets out of control. complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news. >> i am ken wayne. >> i am heather holmes. super bowl 50 is underway right now at levi stadium in santa clara. here is a live look at the stadium. all lit up. 70,000 people in the stands to watch the denver broncos take on the carolina panthers. >> fans converged on santa clara for the historic super

bowl. that is where we find ktvu's maureen naylor live outside levi stadium with all the action outside. >> reporter: well, it has been an exciting day outside levi stadium. we are a few blocks away. there it is behind me. we could hear the roar of the crowd from our location. inside right now 70,000 plus. but we saw the fan craziness to give you a look earlier. just take a listen. [ screams ] [ screams ] >> reporter: that was broncos fans watching the game on their cell phones outside the stadium. we watched thousands of people pour into the stadium before the 3:30 p.m. start and a lot of people didn't have a ticket and were trying to score one. we talked to several people who

have tickets, including a music executive from new york. he has been to the last five super bowls. >> this is incredible. just came from new york. when i left it was snowing. nothing like this. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> i was just talking to my cousin. laughing at him because he is watching the game. >> i am so excited. my first super bowl ever. both of my home towns are in the super bowl. i could not be more excited. >> we got -- [ indiscernible ] >> carolina. tj ward. von miller. [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: all right. well, we also met a tv personality from canada on a show, the canadian version of

shark tank. he showed us las vegas bets he made and we have seen a lot of security. you name it, we have seen it surrounding the stadium. we have seen opd. a number of fbi. you name it, we have seen it here. people are trying to make money off the super bowl. people selling flower crowns for $20 a piece. $20 for a ticket holder with a pin. they expect to make thousands just off people who are buying these things. getting here was easy. we didn't have a problem on highway 101 but there was congestion around the stadium. breaking news we just got in the last 15 minutes. police have been dealing with a protest of uber drivers. 15 to 20 uber drivers apparently according to police were trying to block great america and old glory. police moved in. got them out of the way. there is so much security they moved in quickly and the road is now clear.

reporting live from santa clara, maureen naylor. >> getting in wasn't a big deal but with the uber situation, what about getting out? expecting problems? >> reporter: that is a great question. we came later. people came in throughout the day. several hours early. the question is what happens at the end? i don't know if you can see, there are a lot of buses. a lot of vans. a lot of people behind the camera, i am looking at 20 giant buses. so a lot of people came together. vta busy. that is a great question. we will bring that tonight at 10:00 p.m. >> the other thing, people trying to score a ticket outside the stadium. the average ticket price is $4,700. that seems a dicey thing oo fork over -- to fork over cash with somebody buying a ticket and you don't know it is legit. . >> reporter: you don't.

the nfl sends out warning. we saw a guy with a wad of cash and they saw our camera and turned away. people were looking for ticket. we weren't able to follow up with anyone who www.onetoseeifit-- who bought one to. a lot of people, everyone trying to get tickets at the last minute. >> maureen naylor live at levi stadium. thank you. security all over the bay area has been very tight leading up to the super bowl. k-9 officers getting ready for sweeps around the stadium and hundreds of law enforcement officers briefed in san jose this afternoon as they were sent out on patrols at the stadium. the blue angels performed a fly over at levi stadium. this is downtown san jose. you can see them right there. the team flew over right at the

end of the national anthem and before kickoff for the game. football fans had plenty of transportation options to get to the super bowl. cal train has been one good option for thousands of fans in san francisco. in addition to trains run thong sunday schedule they had three additional super bowl trains to get the fans to the game. those trains took fans to mountain view where they could transfer to the vta. fans in san francisco say they had to do research to work out the logistics but it was worth the effort. >> this is the place to be. so -- [ laughter ] we knew it was further away. the train will be fantastic. and we will have a great time. >> go broncos. go broncos. >> many fans bought a super bowl package, hotel rooms in san francisco and charter bus rides to and from the super bowl. this morning a ktvu fox 2 news crew saw 60 buses on stand by.

on b.a.r.t. super bowl 50 celebrations led to a record breaking day yesterday. early estimates show b.a.r.t. carried 419,000 riders on saturday. which is the most ever for a weekend. the previous record was 319,000 in october 2012. b.a.r.t. officials are expecting big numbers today as well but despite the crowds the trains got people to and where they needed to go. . >> we put out every car we had available to make the trains as long as we could. 10 car trains. in addition to that we had a lot of event trains. trains not on the schedule what we bring in for things like when a concert ends. >> b.a.r.t. is also anticipating a busy day to san francisco airport tomorrow and will run longer trains. fans arrived at levi stadium this morning. that was hours before kickoff.

ktvu's christien kafton was there and tells how the lucky ones had ticket. >> reporter: as the sun rose over levi stadium the fans began pouring in, some just hoping to get into watch the big game. >> right now we are in route to find tickets. came down from oregon. close enough. once in a life time opportunity. didn't have tickets. >> reporter: as the day started there were still tickets availables. about $2,800 -- available. about $2,800 for the cheap seats. they had their tickets so their concern was the score. >> panthers will win by 10. my heart says peyton manning's last game, anything could happen, it is going down to the wire. >> reporter: they agree, it could go down a the wire but they picked a different winner. >> 13-14, broncos win, of

started. >> reporter: sheriff's deputies marked off the crime scene as officers walked among a web of yellow tape. >> we received a number of phone calls. a type of fight, an altercation. >> reporter: several calls came in through 911 to report a fight with knives and baseball bats. >> rescue 9 respond to gun shots. >> reporter: by the time the first officers arrived that fight had escalated to a deadly ending. >> while our deputies were responding we received information that shots were being fired as the deputy was responding. >> the outcome, two people dead, one injured and sent to the hospital. investigators say they have identified the people involved. >> they have a connection with the community. people are known to us. we know this is most likely an isolated escent. no threat to the community. -- event. no threat to the community.

>> reporter: the sheriff's deputy doesn't think there sathreat to the community but they are -- is a threat to the community but they are asking for help to find out how the fight started, who was involved and why it ended like this. >> investigators are talking to witnesses trying to figure out if anyone left the scene of the deadly fight. no word on arrests. three -- three people are dead after a police chase last night in san francisco in the south of market neighborhood. california highway patrol spotted a car doing donuts and when they tried to mull it over -- pull it over the car took off and crashed and killed all three people inside the fleeing vehicle. a taxi driver suffered minor injuries. coming up, new york city feeling the burn. >> socialism to me. in much of the country to under $2 a gallon. a survey found the price for a gallon of regular dropped 8 cents over the past two weeks to $1.82 a gallon. that is 37 cents lower than this same time last year. the prices at the pump will drop further if crude oil prices continue to slide. in the bay area is much higher than the national average. $2futer $2.70 -- $2.40 to 270 dollars. a puppy risk rescue -- rescued from a storm drain in san jose. you can see him here before being pulled to safety. a police officer was patrolling yesterday when he heard the animal crying. the officer called for back up and they worked together to free the animal. no word on how the puppy got stuck or if the animal belongs to anyone. i am sure it will now. >> good to see him out.

super bowl celebrationalize over the country -- celebrations are taking place all over the country. . >> here in the bay area, many football fans headed out to watch the game. pappy's in berkeley was packed with people cheering on their teams and talking smack about players. >> carolina is the best thing running around right now. cam newton will dap all over everybody. send peyton manning with a "l." >> dabbing going on. we will have to wait and see if his protection comes true. many offered super bowl specials to draw customers in. so we were discussing, debating the super bowl halftime. >> right. >> i am upset i am not there. i would have loved to see it. you wanted to see -- >> bring mark into the conversation. i thought cold play brought the

northern california. current numbers out there are in the 60s. livermore 62. santa rosa 63. san francisco 64. and san jose in the upper 60s. now winds did pick up across the bay area. right now not too much of a factor towards santa rosa. fairfield and oakland. more wind records towards sfo. and san jose. the south bay, noticed with the super bowl coverage earlier today we had gusty winds, winds gusting 25 to 26 miles per hour. winds backed off over the past few hours. live camera. beautiful towards san francisco out the in the distance. the bay bridge. across the bay. the glassy conditions on the bay waters. that is a sign we have calm winds over the bay at last check. over night lows first thing tomorrow morning, thinking lots of 40s out there. off to a cool start for your monday. napa 40 degrees. san jose 46. and possibly more records to talk about as we look at your monday forecast. we could have a record with the

forecast, maybe in san rafael, san francisco, close, oakland close as well. san jose could be topping out in the upper 70s. you get the idea tomorrow will be like today. a few spots warmer. the area of high pressure sticks around. tomorrow lots of sunshine. temperatures in the 70s. it will back off later in the week as the area of low pressure approaches the coast line. with that we will bring temperatures down by a few degrees. just minor cooling. no major storms expected. here we go. the forecast model, a few high clouds tuesday and wednesday. looking for rainfall, not showing up. last week we had light showers. the extended forecast, a dry weather pattern for this week, possibly into next week as well. temperatures for tomorrow, 70s out there. it will feel like spring again. we could be talking about more records towards san jose, morgan hill, gilroy. 72 degrees in san francisco. partly cloudy skies on tuesday.

so, i got the craziest e-mail this morning. i don't mean to burst your bubble, dude, but those penile enlargement pills do not work. believe me, i know. the e-mail i got was from the office of stephen hawking. you're kidding. why? he's coming to the university for a couple weeks to lecture, and he's looking for an engineer to help maintain the equipment on his wheelchair. that's amazing. you'll be like his pit crew. a word of caution: i would not do your stephen hawking impression in front of him. (in stephen hawking's voice): you're right. i suppose that could be considered offensive. boy, sheldon's going to freak out. yeah, he worships hawking. i was actually thinking about bringing him along
