of two people this morning. i want to show you some video from this morning. they got the call around 8:00 p.m. they found a man and a woman dead in the driveway. with a dog that was alive kind of walking around the area. the dog has now been taken away by marin county animal services. again, the sheriff's department still investigating not telling us exactly what transpired. they're going to be looking into the cause of death and how these people came to be at this home in this quiet community. we did speak to a neighbor a start time ago who told us what she could about this house. >> upon arrival by the fire personnel and also deputies, we located a male and female deceased. >> it's a little frightening seeing as i live right around aroundthe corner and i've never

felt threatened in this neighborhoods. >> that neighbor told us the owner of this home sold it about a year and a half ago and the owner was planning to build some new properties in the area. again, the marin county sheriff's office investigating the death of a man and a woman found in this driveway and aing dog has now been taken away by marin county animal services. reporting in sleepily hollow greg lee, ktvu fox 2 news. we'll move now to union city where police announced an arrest in a shooting that killed two boys who were just 11 and 14 years old. the state attorney general joins local police and city leaders announcing a big break in the case. . >> this double homicide in

union city stunned the community because of the victim's ages and now police and the state ag say the community is safer with these two arrests in what was a dang related shooting. >> two suspected gang members were aarrested in a deadly early morning shooting in union city back in november. a multiagency investigation led to the arrest. >> our response was steadfast and immediate. >> 18-year-old jason cornejo of castro valley and a 17-year- old hayward boy were arrested by police. killed in the shooting were 11- year-old evan hernandez. the shooters were armed with an ak 47. the killing shocked union city because of how young the victims were. >> all murders are tragic, but when children are gunned down in this particular senseless way it is particularly shocking. >> police say the suspects took

off in this toyota camry. authorities say the two shot and killed the victims for the benefit of a local street gang. a rap song posted online. >> they definitely took advantage of these children and their children 11 and 14. >> the suspects were involved with a criminal street gang. >> as part of the investigation, police seized 40 pounds of marijuana, 8 pounds of meth, $10,000 in cash, two handguns and three assault weapons. >> our officers prevented additional violence and tragedy by removing these dangerous weapons from the streets. we hope to take an act of measured justice for you. >> now neither of the victims h charged with the special circumstance of multiple murders. at least for the adult suspect he can potentially face life in prison. >> did you ask investigators as to why the two boys were targeted? >> well, they do say that the

suspects were both related to a gang or associates of a gang from out of town. they're not saying that the victims themselves were gang members but the violence was done allegedly for the benefit of a gang which glorified the violence. >> 11 and 14 years old. thank you. democratic presidential candidates are preparing for the california democratic primary on march 3rd. democratic presidential candidate pete buttigieg is in the bay area today for several fundraisers. ktvu's allie rasmus is live for us this afternoon. >> the first fundraiser for democratic candidate pete buttigieg was held this morning hundred people. it was not open to the general public and we were nolowed inside that seats several inside and afterward buttigieg was escorted out of the building through a back entrance. he didn't to talk with us

or with a group of protesters who gathered outside. we also want to show you photos from inside the fundraiser. these were shared by supporters who attended the event. buttigieg was introduced by san francisco city attorney dennis herrara. we're told he spoke for 20 minutes then answered questions drawn from a fish bowl. also, what would he do about climate change. buttigieg said he supported the idea of a national carbon tax. >> i'm a veteran. i like the fact that he's a veteran. i like the fact he's speaking to america's better angels and not to the divisiveness. >> i still haven't made up i'm pretty much anyone is better than donald trump right now. so we have to be able to support our democratic

it, the despite the rumors and everything else that we hear, this is coming directly from me. >> mayor breed said that she contacted the city attorney about the relationship as soon as she heard about the charges against nuru. he was arrested last month on fraud charges along with restaurant owner nick bovis. we have new information about a developing story involving coronavirus on a flight between san francisco and london. the united airlines flight that is now on its return trip from he throw to san francisco international. a number of people are wearing masks. there are heightened concerns because of the previous flight that took passengers to london on that flight. one passenger reported feeling sick and was removed from the plane which was then deep cleaned. other passengers were able to lee on their own in london . that plane scheduled to leave at 4:00 this afternoon. meantime today is the last direct flight from sfo to

mainland china for at sfo has the second most flights to china behind lax. the suspension of flights to and from china will impact sfo's revenue because of lost landing fees. today, china announced another spike in coronavirus cases. china reported 5,000 new cases raising the number word wide to morn 65,000. this illness has claimed more than 1400 lives. there are also more claims about medical workers. u.s. health officials are reporting a 15th coronavirus case right here in the states. the patient is a woman who traveled alone to china. she evacuated to lackland air force base. she later tested positive for the coronavirus. the patient is now in ice lacelation at a hospital in texas. and, the next n francisc

related. the young girl went missing from her front yard on tuesday. investigators say they found her body in the woods near her home yesterday. taylor's body was found inside his home nearby. sweatlig's death is being treated as a homicide only adding that a critical piece of evidence was found in taylor's trash can linking him to the case. today marks two years since a mass shooting at a high school in florida. 17 people were killed when a gunman opened fire in parkland, florida. accusing the agency of failing to respond to tips about the shooter. the shooting reignited a national conversation about gun reform, school safety and led to marches in many cities. prosecutors are making their final arguments today in the sexual assault trial of harvey weinstein in new york. we plain how the disgraced

here's a look at some of the top stories we're following for you on this friday. the marin county sheriff's department is investigating the discovery of two people found dead in the community of sleepy hollow. they have not yet said what caused their deaths but say there is no current threat to the community. union city police have arrested two suspected gang members in connection with the shooting deaths of an 11 and 14-year-old boy.

the coronavirus. nference usually has 5,000 attendees and typically brings in some $11 million in spending to san francisco. across the bay we're now learning that an 18-year-old has died in an accident. the teen was hit monday night on the port chicago highway onramp to eastbound highway 4. the chp says he was walking on the ramp when he was hit. his identity has not been released. a follow up now to a report we had for you at noon yesterday. two homicide suspects are now in jail in the santa clara area. a deadly shooting last month in the east san jose foothills. torres here on the right was arrested tuesday in santa clara. police arrested pardoneau yesterday morning following a long standoff at his home. pardoneau's father says he doesn't believe his son is a killer. >> i know he's not capable of killing someone.

. >> both men were accused in the shooting death of 26-year- old richard wynn. investigators have not revealed the connection between the victim and the suspect. bart says crime is down compared to this time last year. bart also reports a big drop in cellphone threats there were 74. is a contributing factor. it was another emotional day in court and another outburst from the main accused of killing nia wilson on a bart platform in oakland. lawyers will now have a four daybreak before returning to court. ktvu's henry lee has the story. >> it was a day of defiance for accused murderer john cowell. at first, he refused to come to court and later showing up he was soon thrown out for cursing at the d.a. and refusing to answer questions. >> it's just an

cowell and his mother. two things cowell has mentioned on the stand. >> because john cowell never completed his testimony it could have been thrown out but the judge indicated he will not declare a mistrial over that issue. in oakland, henry lee, ktvu fox 2 news. a man in el dorado county who faced 14 years in prison for murder will now be released. after new dna evidence was discovered. was sentenced in the 1985 killing of his roommate jane hilton. he was convicted after his former girlfriend claims she witnessed and helped him with the crime. but the northern california innocence project pressed investigators to use dna tests of a bite mark on hilton's shoulder. the dna matched another man michael green and this week, green was arrested in roseville. this is the first case in

california and only the second in this country where investigative genetic genealogy has not only led to the freeing of an individual from prison for a crime he did not commit, but the identification of the true source. >> lawyers for davis will seek compensation for the 14 years he spent in prison. hundreds of families in san jose are being affected by a decision to close two elementary schools. ktvu's azenith smith ports the evergreen school district voted to close the campus by the end of 0 this school year. >> of course not. >> many thursday's school board meeting in san jose an agreement no one wants to see schools shut down. the resounding support to close laurelwood and seen as a necessity. >> i do along with many of my colleagues support school

consolidation because it is the fiscally responsible thing to do. >> the move affecting students that will be reassigned to other schools. the district says the schools were chosen given enrollment trends, cost to operate and maintain the campuses, and neighboring schools that can take schools in. students in. >> cutting programs, layoffs across the district will impact the least number of students overall. the district saving $450,000 a year that's the cost to operate a school as it faces a $12 million short fall and low enrollment. >> the decision to close schools is not an easy one and it's many school districts across the state of california are having to go through the same process because of declining enrollment. >> this is not an evergreen only problem. >> a trend consistent with other schools in the bay area. many families moving to lower

the coronavirus is leading to a steep drop in the price of lobster for californians. 95% of the lobster caught along the california coast is typically shipped to china. two weeks ago china closed its entire sea port. now the lobster that would have been shipped to china is being sold in santa barbara at rock bottom prices. >> the inability to ship out to china, we have seen that price drop significantly to be able to be attractive to the local

market. >> this all comes as california lobster fishermen were already suffering. . when you order takeout you may think or assume that you know where your meal is coming from. but in some cases the actual restaurant where you thought you placed your order may not even be involved. >> some are calling this the dark side of food delivery. >> a busy kitchen is a good sign inside third cousin in san francisco's heights district. owner greg luth says that has to be the case. >> we don't do deliveries because we don't want the quality to be compromised. >> so imagine just how surprised luth was when he found thfood delivery app without his knowledge. >> we didn't even have an order literally somebody walked in with a phone saying i want to order a pork chop.

the pork chop hasn't been on the menu for months. the menu that he had was over a year old. >> online, he found his restaurant listed for deliveries. he says he strives to serve seasonal dishes so the menu posted online was out of date. in the online community of delivery drivers, unauthorized deliveries was just the tip to have the iceberg. kimberly james who says she delivers in the atlanta georgia area says sometimes the deliveries don't even come from restaurants at all. in one case she pulled up to a man's home for an early morning order. >> i had to sit on his couch in his house and watch him cook the food in his kitchen. no gloves. >> she says she's picked up and trailers. urants, condos, in some cases warning the diners if she had concerns. >> with people just being able to get on there and cook from a

bus stealing electricity from a construction site. i used to be a corporate trainer for mcdonald's and that's a food safety issue. >> trailers aren't that uncommon and completely legal provided they follow the same rules as brick and mortar restaurants. it's part of a growing food delivery eco system. this unassuming trailer in a mission district parking lot is actually functioned as a permitted and inspected thai restaurant. a ghost kitchen. >> we have contacted san francisco's department of public health and they say all food preparation and delivery services must meet the same strict guidelines as traditional brick and mortar restaurants. the way that many of the apps are set up now, there is the potential for bad actors to slip in to the food delivery world. back at third cousin, diners who are learning about these possibilities say they worry about exactly where their food is coming from. >> i would be very disserved

to find out i ordered food from my favorite restaurant and it was made in a ghost kitchen. >> no drivers have stepped forward to talk about delivers in homes or the bay area. in response, uber said, quote, we take food safety very seriously and require contracts with our restaurant partners whereby they agree to abide by certain food safety standards. greg luth says he has no idea if any customers placed orders and received food that he didn't prepare. that first night when delivery orders first started pouring in, he spoke with the company. >> i had postmates call me that night at the restaurant and wanted to know what's going on and i said we want our listing taken down. we never opted in on it. >> delivery companies say the delivery apps allow restaurants to reach more customers and customers try new foods. as for complaints from businesses that don't want

rain out of it. northern california maybe the sierra picking up on just a few scattered showers. for us, it's going to be partly cloudy with temperatures remaining very seasonal. upper 50s to low 60s expected. perhaps a little bit of fog to start the day and partly cloudy for the rest of the afternoon. temperatures right now in the low 50s in areas of san francisco. upper 50s over walnut creek and mid 50s over areas of santa rosa. into the inner east bay. a few low 60s out there. we've got 61 pittsburgh. 60 degrees in walnut creek and 61 pleasanton. under partly cloudy skies. it feels okay. here's a look at the afternoon highs expected. we've got 59 in san rafael. we'll go 64 in antioch. for san francisco, 56. and the afternoon highs expected for our south bay, 61 san jose. 62 for morgan hill. if you are thinking about getting out into the evening hours temperatures will begin to cool off.
