might be there if it moves into santa cruz and the north. temps will drop. if not, it will take another day. but i think the coast will get a little bit of a sea breeze later today. inland it will take until tomorrow's seventies eighties nineties. still bart salaries that better is recovering after that earlier delay, steve, and there are some residual delays at this point, i would just say get to the station a few minutes early. and it should be okay for you. let's go out and take a look at the richmond bridge. you can see the traffic here is crowded, but it's not unusual. and the same thing goes with the bay bridge. you will see some slowing. when we come back in just a few minutes, we're going to take a look at some of those east bay in south bay commutes that are beginning to heat up. now it's 701. let's get right back to the headlines. thank you. there are new developments coming from the investigation into that texas elementary school shooting. the gunman was quote shooting anyone in his way. ktvu mendicant on in our newsroom. we just found out earlier today. the 19th students and two teachers killed were all in the same fourth grade classroom. yes that's right.

garcia we did just learned that new information. we're also learning more about the victims of that shooting yesterday. the death toll now raised to 21 photos are coming out showing the faces of those young children killed. and the two teachers now identified a texas public safety officials now saying all of these victims were in the same fourth grade classroom. at the time of the shooting, many parents waited late into the night to learn whether their children had survived. as authorities work to identify those killed the 18 year old gunman who was killed by law enforcement is believed to have shot his grandmother before driving to rob elementary to carry out the attack, armed with multiple firearms. now, this is the deadliest school shooting in nearly a decade since 26 people were shot and killed at sandy hook elementary in 2012 and gun laws have not changed much. since then. democrats in the senate, including senator chris murphy of connecticut, where sandy hook

is calling for action, they have added gun control legislation to the calendar. but experts say getting anything through congress will be difficult. president joe biden is also making an emotional plea for gun control hoped. when i became president, i would not have to do this again in god's name is our backbone. of the courage to deal with it. stand up to the lobbies. nowhere else to little kids go to school, thinking that they might be shot that day. many republicans have expressed outrage over the shooting but not support for new laws. again there's a movement on social media, saying enough is enough, and thoughts and prayers are not enough. texas governor greg abbott is scheduled to visit the grieving community later today. police are still searching for a motive. live in the newsroom. amanda kintanar ktvu fox two news, amanda. thank you here in california. our state leaders are reacting to that shooting, many calling for immediate

says the big concern the dry brush beyond that they're worried about what the rest of this fire season will look like , since we're seeing such dry conditions so early in the year and the current weather conditions have many california fire teams concerned about the early start of what we would traditionally call fire season or andre senior in studio now and andre, there are just two major wildfires burning in our state, but crews are preparing for much more than that in the coming months. they certainly are garcia. the state knows at some point there will be more fires burning than state or local agencies can take care of individually. and that's when california's office of emergency services will coordinate with cal fire as well as county and city agencies to send crews to work together. mutual aid training has already started so far, teams can work well together and react quickly. the san francisco fire department was one of the first in the state this season to start that training. we depend on local fire personnel to staff, state engines, and in that partnership , we're able to take those

engines and move them throughout the state. or the region when we have mutual aid requests san francisco fire crews ran through several drills at mclaren park yesterday because of the high temperatures, though, and windy conditions they practice without lining any flames. most of the drills focus on how best to use fire hoses in different conditions and then included having crews haul hoses from one point and connecting it to another hose out in the field. that's useful when a fire is burning away from water sources. another what another was what's called the pump and roll operation. water truck with the hoses are attached to it. keep rolling, while fire crews director hose nozzles that specific areas. local fire officials want people to know even when san francisco firefighters are deployed to help out of town, they are still protected the state owned we're fully staffed in the city, so it doesn't deplete our staffing were able to staff every piece of apparatus fully. state owns and operates more than 270 fire

this time at a school in texas. the shooting at rob elementary in the small texas town of vivaldi, about an hour and a half west of san antonio, left 19 children and two adults dead. we have team coverage of the deputy shooting this morning. we're going to start with reporter madeline rivera and yuval d. texas madeline once again. good morning. what is the new information we're finding out this morning? those victims. well the biggest details that police have confirmed for us this morning is that the shooting took place in one classroom 1/4 grade classroom. police say the suspect barricaded himself in that classroom and that local police yesterday tried to break inside. but we're shot at and they were unsuccessful and that it was actually a member of the border patrol team, a member of the border patrol tactical unit that was able to breach their classroom and took down the suspect. that is the biggest detail that we're hearing that the shooting took place

entirely. in 1/4 grade classroom, you guys. you're there in front of the school. i mean, many of us have never even heard of you validate before yesterday's shooting. it's a small town. 15,000 residents there. what are you seeing? as you make your way around town? i imagine each one of these lives lost. ripples through the community. yes it's a very small community. as you mentioned. it's got a population of about 16,000 people. so it's very small and people here know each other. some of these people know that some of the victims that were inside that school. and so it really hits home for them. they tell me that they are in a state of shock. that is all this is all very surreal for them. they're still trying to process what to place inside that elementary school, and so they are dealing with feelings of grief. the school year was supposed to end on may 26. now the families of those victims are not preparing for graduations. they're preparing for funerals. madeline rivera.

and you've aldi, texas. in the counseling services available on campuses if kids and families need some extra help today, understanding the tragedy and feeling safe, the disturbing and frustrating reality of yet another school shooting is prompting discussions across the country about security. and gun control as well as discussions about how to process this kind of unthinkable tragedy. that seems to be a disconnect in some ways between parents and their children. um. they seem just kids nowadays don't seem to have the same family support system. i don't know why anybody needs to have high powered. um. rifles of that sort tired of it. it's another mass shooting. like why is this still happening? the last thing you want to do is send your child to school and not have them come home. and that's something we have to worry about in this country constantly. parents dropping off their kids at school this morning may notice extra police

and security in certain parts of the bay area, contra costa county sheriff david livingstone said in a tweet last night, although there are no known threats in contra costa sheriff's office jurisdiction. i've ordered additional patrols around all of our schools. the central and unified school district, says that they are doing the same thing that some of the resource officers plan on having an increased visible presence just for peace of mind as the district described it. even in san francisco, they sent out a memo to families to let them know that san francisco police are going to have extra patrols around schools between now and the end of the school year, which is next week for that district live in alamo alley. rasmus ktvu fox two news . thank you time 7 36 tomorrow marks exactly one year since that mass shooting at the b to light rail yard in san jose. like to ask everyone to take a moment of silence, please. now the san jose city council held this moment of silence honoring the mind innocent lives that

were lost city councils proclaiming tomorrow a day of remembrance, the valley transportation authority earlier this month demolished the building where the attack occurred, so survivors won't have to relive that nightmare every day they go to work. on behalf of our brothers who we lost that day. two nour and remember them is. we're very thankful and appreciative of that. there are no words that can offer that will be able to express the profound loss. that we experienced last year. another bta says 10 employees died that day rail yard worker who saw the shooting died by suicide his first day back at work, the valley transportation authority will hold private ceremonies tomorrow for the employees and for the victims, families. it will be live stream so the public can share in that service. that's all right. let's see if we can get you out the

control laws as well as new details about the victims, amanda yes, well, that's right. we are learning more about the students and teachers in that shooting yesterday, the death toll now raised to 21 photos are coming out showing the faces of those young children killed and the two teachers identified. a texas public safety officials now saying all of these victims were in the same fourth grade classroom at the time of the shooting. this teacher seen here has worked in the district for 17 years. relatives of the students say that the children's ages range from 8 to 10 years old. some of the students had also celebrating making honor roll that day. many parents waited late into the night to learn whether their children had survived as authorities work to identify those killed the 18 year old gunman who was killed by law enforcement is believed to have shot his grandmother. before driving to rob elementary to carry out the attack. armed with multiple firearms. this is the deadliest school shooting in

nearly a decade since 26 people were shot and killed. at sandy hook elementary in 2012 and gun laws haven't changed much. since then. democrats in the senate, including senator chris murphy of connecticut, where sandy hook is are calling for action, they have added gun control legislation to the calendar. but experts say getting anything through congress will be difficult. president jo biden's also making an emotional plea for gun control hoped. when i became president, i would not have to do this again in god's name is our backbone. of the courage to deal with it. stand up to the lobbies. nowhere elset that day. many republicans have expressed outrage over the shooting but not support for new laws. again there's a movement on social media, saying enough is enough, and thoughts and prayers are not enough. texas

this morning, but we did talk to some parents this morning about some of the emotions they were going through. also this morning , we did see a contra costa county sheriff's deputy. that was out here end up providing a presence and a lot of parents. we talked to said they felt very reassured about that. and we're glad to see that officer here, in fact, across the county and the county sheriff says in contra costa county that even though there are no specific threats they are still going to have extra police patrols out at school sites just to give people and parents that sort of peace of mind. but we talked to parents about the range of emotions they're experiencing this morning. here's what they have to say. it's unfathomable that in our nation, we continue to have this. i think it's i mean, it's on the legislators to do this. we can raise awareness. we can scream at the top of our lungs, but they continue to sit around and do nothing. how sad is the world? america i'm just happy that i mean, we're in a good community, i guess. hopefully but you just never
