season, gas prices continue to rise. drivers are keeping in mind here that traditionally gas prices peak just before labor day. ktvu james torres live in san ramon. you've been checking out the cost to fill up that tanker. maybe put in the 20 right, which is what most of us are doing these days. yeah yeah, twenties. probably just going to get you up to that first hash mark on your gas tank. not going to do too much for you anymore, and it doesn't seem like we're gonna get any of that relief anytime soon. the city san ramon here is starting to wake up. we're starting to see something. gas tanks. some of the gas gauges here. gas stations get a little more full right on the corner of crowd canyon, a rather crow canyon road and san ramon valley boulevard where you have a several gas stations to choose from. but no matter the option, you're still going to have to pay the price that we are so sad to see nowadays, according to triple a, the cost continues to climb. the national average for a gallon of regular gas is about $4.62. that's a dollar and 60 cents more than this time last year, three cents more since

last week. the story in california we know is always so much more harsh. for the first time ever, the average price for regular unleaded gas in the state of california now sits above $6 a gallon. it's at 6 17 nearly $2 more than this time last year that very much hurts for people in the state driving to their memorial day weekend getaways. i commute every day to work, so i spent about 120 everyday on gas. so it's adding up saturday night and i have four kids. so you know how that goes. adding up, no doubt about it. those prices don't get any better either. when you hone in on different regions within the state, specifically in san francisco, for instance, the average prices there $6.44 for a regular gallon of gas. the highest ever recorded price per triple a, and that may not be too much really coming our way anytime soon, experts say. demand for travel is only going to rise during the summer. so while the national average sits at about $4, don't be surprised
