artists featured in an lgbtq exhibit. a supervisor rafael mandolins office. o'donnell's photo of two men kissing he feels is a sign of the times. there's a little bit of attention in the kits, too, and it kind of is reflective of what's going on. like the state of things. the emergence of monkeypox and uptake in covid cases coming just as pride celebrations begin. we will have people testing at the event. we will have people passing out masks. we will have people passing out information as far as monkey pox and other issues. political divisions also are threatening to cast a shadow over celebrate. nations. on wednesday, the san francisco police officers pride alliance released a statement calling on pride's board to reverse its decision to ban police from wearing uniforms in the pride parade. mayor london breed said last week she won't attend the parade unless the officers can march in uniform in protest against the mayor, the leather lgbtq cultural district, along with the castro in transgender district, said they won't attend the city's official flag raising ceremony thursday. there needs to be much more coming together

it's time to get out corner and his wife got out safely but lost their home on soda canyon road. only the garage remained, but they put it all into perspective . we're good. we're in good shape or healthy. but we lost step will never replace. so you think about those things on tuesday as the old fire broke out in the same area, it was almost like deja vu from five years ago, as smoke rose, he saw his neighbors evacuate just up the road started getting calls from our kids and friends. you ok? ok yeah, but it was blowing to the to the northwest. mainly so it was all going that way quarter isn't just your average napa county resident he's a retired napa city firefighter who rebuilt his home with the required safety upgrades like tempered glass, internal sprinklers, 2500 gallon water tank and fire hydrant out front. his home also now features cement board siding and no events in the attic corner also added hoses throughout the perimeter and threw in a generator for good measure. well you know, the best you can do is do what you can to prepare. for

mory police say they have a significant update on the alexis gabe case, and the chief will make a statement earlier later this morning. gabe is the 24 year old oakley woman who was last seen in january at the home of a former boyfriend in antioch's car was found abandoned with the keys inside the following day. a reward fund for information in the case stands at $100,000 police chief is expected to have that update at 11 o'clock. there will be

more funerals today for victims of the school shooting. and you've already texas that killed 21 people last week. mourners came together yesterday for the funeral of rob elementary school teacher irma garcia and her husband, joe garcia's husband died two days after the shooting from an apparent heart attack. after visiting the memorial for the 21 victims. fourth grader jose flores was also laid to rest. one of the young survivors of the massacre spoke out about what she witnessed and she said mrs garcia pleaded with the gunmen trying to protect her students. she started guarding us. and my friend a memory she's started. turned to call the police with her friends, phone and when they did that he started saying you'll die. the body school police chief says he is working with texas law enforcement in the investigation . he is facing criticism for

ordering officers to wait in the hallway instead of confronting the gunmen. the girl scouts are paying tribute to one of the young victims with their highest honor, 10 year old marriage. oh garcia garza was awarded the bronze cross by the gross scouts . it is given to those who try to save someone's life and a merry was one of the children who called 911 on her cell phone in the midst of the shooting. before she was killed. investigators in tulsa, oklahoma , are investigating after another mass shooting this time inside a hospital where four people were killed before police say the gunman turned the gun on himself. reporter kevin corke has the latest information from officials. tragedy in tulsa, oklahoma. at least four people are dead and multiple others injured after a gunman opens fire inside a medical building on the campus of st francis hospital wednesday. sending fear and panic across the property as staff and patients went into survival mode in the closet and

make sure that we were safe. police officials say. officers quickly arrived on scene within about three minutes after receiving the first call for help and immediately jumped into action. entering the natalie building, where they located victims and make contact with the shooter. the officers that did arrive. we're hearing shots in the building, and that's what directed them to the second floor enforcement says the alleged gunman died from what they believe is a self inflicted gunshot wound. he has a black male. estimated to be 35 to 40 years old and we have confirmed he had one long gun, a rifle and one handgun with the active shooter threat eliminated. officers then focused on securing the premises and searching for any additional victims. so we are doing a floor by floor room by room search. make sure that we don't have anybody else outstanding in the building. meantime survivors are trying to cope with their shock . very shaken up. i mean, i have then it on tv. that's last couple of weeks, and it's just

startling. just have to go through that president biden received a briefing on the shooting. white house officials say they are closely monitoring the attack. as the investigation into the suspect and possible motive continues. kevin corke fox news. thank you, kevin. you think gas prices are high here in the bay area, one gas station in los angeles is charging more than $8 a gallon. this is in downtown l a or the average price of gas is more than $6, but people are accusing the chevron station of price gouging , the attorney general's office says it has warned gas companies about market manipulation, but says the state price gouging law only goes into effect. if there is a declaration of emergency. state lawmakers have announced an agreement on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. the proposal includes $8 billion in assistance to help californians deal with the rising cost of gas and other consumer goods that

includes the governor's idea to give checks to vehicle owners. lawmakers have also agreed to provide $10 billion in tax credits to lower income families , small businesses and nonprofits. the full state assembly and senate are expected to vote on it before sending it to the governor's desk for approval. san francisco, maryland in breed unveiled her proposed $14 billion city and county budget. mayor breed is asking for the city's ambassador program to continue as well as for more investments in the city's street crisis response teams. she credits the program with helping to make progress in addressing homelessness in the city. since 2000 and 19 the unsheltered homeless population dropped by 15. and since taking office in 2000 and 18, we've been able to get 6500 people off the streets. on public safety. the mayor's budget seeks to add 200 more police officers by

next tuesday's statewide primary election organizers were out yesterday in the final rally to get more people to cast their ballots. i feel like a lot of people, especially in my generation don't vote and they don't get involved in community events like this, and i think it's really important for san jose as a whole to be represented by their entire community, not just a small portion san jose voters will cast ballots for measure be. that measure will allow voters in san jose to choose a mayor at the same time they vote for us president. if passed, the mayor would serve a four year term starting in 2024. voters on tuesday will also choose a new district attorney, a new sheriff and a new mayor. well so far fewer than 10% of voters statewide have returned their ballots for tuesday's primary, according to the chronicle, just about two million ballots have been returned out of nearly 22 million sent to registered voters. people can drop off those ballots in the mail or return them and any voting voting center. they must be

say the target was berkeley high school police searched the boys home after receiving a tip last month. now they found parts to build assault rifles, several knives and explosives as well as electronic items that could be used to create more weapons. the teenager surrendered to police earlier this week, berklee school officials talked about the incident and last night school board meeting. supporting our students has never been more important as we collectively try to make sense of senseless murders in gun violence, become the school every day to make sure our students have a foundation of stability and support and at the same time we worry about our own family safety. we keep showing up because we are needed. but what is actually needed is for all of us to collectively stand up and say no to gun violence. the teenager could face charges of possessing destructive device materials and threatening to commit a crime, which would result in death or great bodily injury. the school district says it is also conducting its own investigation into the threats.

in southern california 16 year old student is in the hospital after being shot outside his school that happened as classes were letting out for the day outside grant high school in the van nuys neighborhood of los angeles. police say the student was crossing the street when he was shot. school officials immediately put the school on lockdown. students were allowed to leave about an hour later. los angeles police say the shooting may be gang related. the white man accused of killing 10 black people in an attack at a buffalo, new york supermarket is scheduled to appear in court today. peyton genderen has been charged with 10 counts of first degree murder and injuring three other people in the shooting. gender run, was also indicted by a new york grand jury for domestic terrorism motivated by hate that carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison. the 18 year old is pleading not guilty to all charges. the man charged with starting a massive fire to home depot in the south bay is without an attorney as the county public defender's

office recused itself from the case. ktvu s mark sayer tells us the suspect could face a potential life sentence if he's convicted on all of the charges he faces. appearing in a green jail jumpsuit. 27 year old dylan j. crew's gogi spoke to his attorneys but made no statements to the court. gogi is facing at least 30 charges, including multiple counts of arson for this massive blaze at a home depot store on blossom hill road in south san jose. prosecutors allege he intentionally set the fire to cover up the theft of tools and in the process. created a great danger to the public. it was a saturday afternoon with family and employees and people working, so i think my office is very much dedicated to prosecuting this case to the fullest extent the fire ultimately went to five alarms, and the loss in inventory alone was estimated by investigators at about $17 million, the public defender's office told superior court judge jose franco. that it would recuse itself in this case and assigned the case to what is

called the alternate defender in court. public defender did not outline the nature of the conflict by prosecutors say this is not unusual in complex criminal cases. so this is a common procedural happening, where there's a lot of charges and witnesses so for various reasons of public defender felt they can't represent this person. so a conflict was declared. gogi faces a potential life sentence if he is convicted on all of the charges he is facing. he's expected to be back in court with his new attorneys on june 29th reporting in san jose. i'm mark sayer, ktvu fox two news. thank you, mark. alumni of a fraternity at stanford university have filed a lawsuit claiming the university unfairly punished the fraternity. following the overdose death of a fraternity member. now the university revoked its recognition of the data delta chi fraternity for six years and required them to vacate their on campus house. in the lawsuit. the fraternity alumni say the punishment is unprecedented and meant to shift

the blame onto the fraternity for the overdose. death. 19 year old eight and winner was found dead in the fraternity house on january 2020. from a fentanyl overdose. parents and community members say they are occupying an elementary school in oakland to protest the school district's decision to close it. the oakland unified school district officially closed parker elementary last week as part of a plan to consolidate several schools because of declining enrollment and a budget deficit. but parents and community members are now camping out at the school and offering what they call summer school classes . organizers say classes are being taught by volunteers and parents, ranging from math and chess to double dutch and roller skating. this way too important to shut down way too important. that's why we're here. that's what we're doing everything in our power to keep our buildings open because they're needed. in response, the oakland unified school district sent us a statement saying, quote we recognize that some individuals

are upset at the closure of parker. we would ask that they choose a different means of protest, one that doesn't disrupt the normal year and procedures of staff and the need to close out the year. as we celebrate pride during the month of june, we want to focus on the history of advocacy for the lgbt community. pride month takes place in june in remembrance of the stonewall uprising in new york city in 1969. police officers raided the stonewall inn because bars catering to gay customers were illegal. at the time, hundreds of people fought with the officers for the next several days. the uprising is considered a turning point in the fight for lgbt equality. even before stonewall. other uprisings took place across the country for years. before that, there was a riot at compton's cafeteria in san francisco, when trans people fought back against violent harassment from police. san francisco police chief bill scott apologized on behalf of the department nearly three

years ago on the anniversary of the event. san francisco sheriff's deputies rose the pride flag at the county jail in san bruno. the annual flag raising. is to celebrate the sheriff's lgbt q staff members and the community. but this year san francisco police and firefighters were also invited to the ceremony. it was a show of solidarity after pride parade organizers banned law enforcement officials from wearing their uniforms if they choose to walk in this year's parade. i'm a proud member of the lgbtq community and to be able to stand here. and be out and open and proud of who i am. when we think about the stories of their private originated from those are stories where i would be inside this jail. not out here wearing a uniform. some lgbtq advocates are calling on

demagogues. ktvu fox two news. this month marks the beginning of a chapter for the oakland police department. it's taken the first step toward coming out from under federal oversight that's lasted 20 years. the federal oversight was part of the settlement from a 2003 class action lawsuit that claims for oakland police officers called the writers racially profiled and beat citizens and falsified police reports. john burress was one of the attorneys who represented the citizens. we're on the right track now, and i'm very hopeful that we will get through this next year. and more important, as i've said last generation of more apologize that it took so long, but there was so much change that needed to occur in this department. the settlement included 51 separate reform measures, and the department says it is not complying with 50 of those and has six months to meet the last one, creating equal disciplinary measures for all officers. if it can do that. and maintain its current record that's building trust in the community. the

in january at the home of a former boyfriend at antioch. her car was found abandoned and with the keys inside the following day. a reward fund for information in the case stands at $100,000 police chief is expected to have an update at 11 o'clock this morning. fire crews are gaining ground on that fire burning in napa county, and it's now 30% contained. firefighters have kept it from growing after 570 acres burned, and that made it possible for the people who had been evacuated to return to their homes. many of the people who live in the area remember the atlas fire burning in the same general area just five years ago. john corner sat lost his home in that fire. he has retired. he's a napa city firefighter retired, and he and his wife decided to rebuild, but they took every precaution possible in case another fire threatened their homes, so their new home as internal sprinklers at 2500 gallon water, take cement board siding and the fire

long, but there was so much change that needed to occur in this department. the settlement included 51 separate reform measures, and the department says it is not complying with 50 of those and has six months to meet the last one, which is creating equal disciplinary measure for all officers if it can do that. and maintain its current record that's building trust in the community. the federal oversight will end and the city's police commission will take over on may 31st of next year. the san jose city council has been directed to take a look at how police investigate alleged misconduct by officers or any city employee during a joint meeting of rules and open government committee yesterday, members voted to send the item to the san jose city council for session. the council meets june 21st to discuss the measure. mayor sam liccardo believes there needs to be changed following two high profile incidents involving misconduct by city employees. police arrested a 16 year old who they say tried to recruit

other people to participate in an attack at an east based school. investigators say the target was berkeley high school police searched the boys home. after receiving a tip last month , they found parts to build assault rifles, several knives, explosives and electronic items that could be used to create more weapons. the teenager surrendered to police. earlier this week, berklee school officials talked about the incident at last night's school board meeting. supporting our students has never been more important as we collectively try to make sense of senseless murders in gun violence, become the school every day to make sure our students have a foundation of stability and support and at the same time we worry about our own family safety. we keep showing up because we are needed, but what is actually needed is for all of us to collectively stand up and say no to gun violence. the teenager could face charges of possessing destructive device materials and threatening to commit a crime, which would result in death or great bodily

injury. the school district says it is also conducting its own investigation into the threats. the man charged with starting that massive fire to home depot in the south bay could face a potential life sentence. 27 year old dylan gogi made a court appearance yesterday. he's facing at least 30 charges, including multiple counts of arson for the massive fire to home depot store on blossom hill road in south san jose. prosecutors say he intentionally set that fire to cover up the theft of tools and in the process. created a great danger to the public. it was a saturday afternoon with family and employees and people working, so i think my office is very much dedicated to prosecuting this case to the fullest extent. the fire ultimately went to five alarms. the loss in inventory alone was estimated by investigators at about $17 million gogi scheduled to be back in court. june 29th. the golden state warriors are faced the boston celtics tonight in

more funerals today for victims of the school shooting, and you've all the texas that killed 21 people. last week. mourners came together yesterday for the funeral of rob elementary school teacher irma garcia and her husband, joe. garcia's has been died two days after the shooting from an apparent heart attack after visiting the memorial for the 21 victims. fourth grader jose flores was also laid to rest. one of the young survivors of the massacre spoke out about what she witnessed and she said mrs garcia pleaded with the gunmen trying to protect her students. she started guarding us. and my friend, a memory. she's it started. turn to call the police with her friends, phone and. did that he started saying. you'll die. the valley school police chief says he is working with texas law enforcement in the investigation , but he is facing criticism for

what the motive the gunman may have had for the attack. associated press reports that have been 12 shootings in the country where four or more people have died since the beginning. of january. today the house judiciary committee plans to vote on a gun control measure. it's called the protecting our kids act. the legislation would raise the buying age for semi automatic rifles from 18 to 21. ban the sale of new high capacity ammunition magazines. it would also establish a national red flag law allowing authorities to temporarily confiscate guns. from those who are deemed a danger, and it would create a grant program to buy back large capacity magazines. most of those house bills have almost no chance of clearing the senate. had we had a red flag law plus a ban on those types of weapons being sold to men under the age of 21. i don't think you the chances of us having to give all the shooting our way diminished. we have a second amendment to

from the classroom yesterday after it was holed up for several hours. they say the male cat is just about 6 to 8 months old underweight and has a badly fractured tooth. zoo officials say he's too young to be able to survive on his own since mountain lions spend the first two years of their lives with their mothers. now, as you might imagine, having a mountain lion on campus with something students and teachers won't soon forget. greed this all has to happen on a regular wednesday, which is like pretty amazing, but also not at the same time. so it was not a regular wednesday after all, and teacher spotted the mountain lion cub at 8 20 yesterday morning on a pathway near the school and started yelling to alert others . the mountain lion was spooked by the noise and ran into the building. i. put my stuff down. went in. moved this. like what floor sign out of the way just closed the door. with the mountain lion trapped california fish and wildlife officers arrived and sedated the cubs so

it could be removed. well pride month is underway in the bay area, with the first celebrations wrapping up last night, but there is also some political division leaders from the castro transgender and leather lgbtq. cultural districts say they won't attend today's ceremony to raise the pride flag in san francisco, and that's after mayor london breed said. she would not attend the pride parade unless police are allowed to wear their uniforms while they walk in the parade, transgender activists honey mahogany is one of the city's official pride celebration hosts and hopes the tension won't throw cold water on the celebration. it needs to be much more coming together in francisco. i think we have been so fraught so politically divided lately. the sf pride board will meet next week and see if members can resolve some of the issues so everyone can work together on the biggest issues they face. organizers of the san francisco pride festival

to the north. oakland police are a big step closer to lifting some federal oversight. andre senior joins us now live talking about the department now in a one year probation period after being under some close scrutiny by the federal government for the past 20 years, andre good morning to you, pam. the fighter will oversight was part of a settlement reached back in 2000 and three after a class action lawsuit was filed by 119 people. in oakland, they said four oakland officers who became known as the riders beat them falsified police reports racially profiled them and planted drugs on them. one woman says she was a victim 20 years ago when she was pulled over by police. she says she has never been involved in drugs, but an officer planted a bag of white substance on her and that change your life. does he have any if against the car at the back and then you suck his hands in my pockets? look what i found. so then i went to jail. for the first time in my whole life. and i didn't understand. why?

will cast ballots for measure be. that measure will allow voters in san jose to choose a mayor at the same time they vote for us president. if passed, the mayor would serve a four year term starting in 2024 voters on tuesday, will also choose a new district attorney, a new sheriff and a new mayor. so far fewer than 10% of voters statewide have returned ballots for the primary, according to the chronicle, just about two million ballots have been returned out of nearly 22 million sent to registered voters. people can drop off those ballots in the mail or return them to any voting center, but they must be postmarked and signed by june 7th. parents and community members say they're occupying an elementary school in oakland to protest the school districts decision to close it. the oakland unified school district officially closed parker elementary last week. as part of a plan to consolidate several schools because of declining enrollment and the budget deficit. but parents and community members are now camping out at the school and

about the traffic at the bay bridge here. i want to show you that it is going to be a little bit slow. which is typical for this time of the morning. that's not unusual. there is also some congestion on the span. this is a look at interstate 80 that looks good past the coliseum and on 5 80 as well. south bay is beginning to get a little bit of slowing on 101 and 87. but for the most part, we're still off to a pretty nice start when it comes to the commute. into that west valley at 6 50 to today's weather is going to be warmer or cooler, steve cooler sound, we'll start with the, uh, possibility, though, of rain moving in. when would that be? that would be on sundays when we're looking for that to happen. eventually i'll get to it here. and when you do so many hits, right salvation. sometimes you don't load the show. tell me about it. i'm telling you about it. alright rain is on the way and that won't be until sunday, though. thursday and friday. today and tomorrow it will be about cooler weather, maybe a little drizzle more likely
