6:13 am
some nearby grass. it has now burned more than one square mile near the south fork of the yuba river, where there are several small communities that have been evacuated. fire fighting aircraft were called in because of the rugged terrain and that did help the crews get about 10% containment. so far, property owners say it has been a relief to see those helicopters dropping water where the crews on the ground can't reach. pretty big but stayed on the other side of the mountain. and. firefighters are doing a good job. shores of aerial bombers. they're all doing good work. the tankers dropping fire retardant are expected to be back again today. now that's powerful winds from early yesterday appeared to be dying down. there are also fire crews from oakland and san francisco, now heading to nevada county to help a national hiring effort is underway to help the u . s. forest service. west coast recruiters say they are starting

experts are taking what they learn from covid to plan for fighting monkey pox. as the covid pandemic eases monkeypox is coming into sharper focus, infectious disease specialist dr peter chen hong says the fact that monkey pox is seldom deadly and with vaccines already developed. it is a disease that needs to be addressed. not feared, i think and monkey pox, we should be wary of it, but definitely not fearful of it, not alarmed by it and not lose sleep over it, although most of the current monkeypox cases have been gay men medical experts say that's just happenstance. previous outbreaks have spread in different communities when you look at the arc of monkeypox outbreaks, historically actually , men and women are equal opportunity. it's just said this particular outbreak seems to be pried up predominantly in men who have sex with men. but you know, the last outbreak we had in the u. s was in pet owners. san francisco's department of public health says they've tracked 16 cases of monkeypox so far to rolling out plans to
6:16 am
combat the disease. san francisco has already received 360 vaccine doses with another 200 expected this week. we know the importance now of circumventing this before it gets wider, so we've reached out to all of our patients. we've made sure that their them and their contacts are being treated or reached out to for conversations. the san francisco aids foundation is also mobilizing, recalling how gay men were stigmatized during the hiv aids crisis of the 19 eighties. the foundation is raising concerns about testing and vaccinations to address the current monkeypox outbreak and we're taking every chance we can to ensure that the population that we serve through san francisco aids foundation is aware and that we're advocating for enough vaccine so that all those who feel like they may be at risk will have access. department of public health says it's working with the state to source and distribute vaccine as it becomes available. they are urging anyone who suspects they may have been exposed to monkey pox to contact their doctor or

other therapeutic options. we even have immune globulin. so in the event that some people get severely ill, where very poised to treat them. dr chen hong also says the vaccine is fast working and effective because the incubation period for the virus is long, almost three weeks time is 6 18 new precautions taken by santa clara county vector control after mosquitoes with west nile virus were found they were found in traps near milpitas. later on tonight, vector control crews will be out in that area, spraying insecticide in the flying zone of the mosquitoes. no vector control says it's common for mosquitoes to be active during summertime because they thrive in hot weather and in pockets of water. treatment involves using truck mounted equipment that releases and insecticide at what we call ultra low volume, which is sort of a missed um and we

drive around the area. um it takes about three hours to cover the entire area. and this insecticide space, um, and the flange zone of the mosquito. officials say you can lower your infection raised by removing standing water from off your property and limit any outdoor activities between dusk and dawn . that's when mosquitoes are most active. all right. there's a problem in castro valley. right, sal you've been following so unfortunately, we need to let people know about that. yeah, and one of the problems is that the tow truck has not arrived, so they thought that they were going to have this out. but i guess the tow truck maybe stuck in traffic. now the backup is to the dublin energy into the crashes. westbound 5 80 at eden kenyon road. it's at the top of the hill eventually. and traffic is going to be on the wealth. it's going to be slow all the way through until you get to the top of the hill. what happened
6:20 am
was that a car flipped over several times. and ended up in the two left lanes here on 5 80. now they have that car. you can't drive it away, so they have to wait for the flatbed tow truck to get it out. and that's the rub here. the rest of the community. east bay seems okay. i've been looking at highway for the other slow traffic spot in the east bay. the rest that used a loss. alright. little bit of slowing developing now at the toll plaza, which is typical for this time of the morning. at 6 20. bring steve back in here, steve, you shall pablo cruz at the winter land long time ago. so winterland, a lot of people are saying, winterland. what is that? what steiner. there are now i think condos there. okay? i think so. alright. used to be. everyone plays someone will know right? they'll they'll tweet us. i guarantee you somebody out there was saying i was at that show. you mean the one where they opened for journey and robin trower? yeah, that one. alright and plan pablo cruz will
