area? yeah we should. we sure do. and it's been downgraded to a category three. so that's good news for canada. but here's the thing that part of canada and newfoundland they actually may see category one low category to force winds that will come up there and that will be historic. it's just not common. i mean, they sometimes get get the residue so to speak of the storms, but they usually do not see those hurricane force gusts up there and to think actually, greenland may get some of fiona they make it out on the action. it just goes to show you how wide this storm is 600 miles, and it continues to expand out and you know the energy in the system over the atlantic. just tremendous. i guess. you know the silver lining here where i'm standing in bermuda is that there's no fatalities and injuries to report like. unfortunately the caribbean just experienced nine people losing their lives up. robert ray

8:19 am
bart is asking people to take alternate forms of transportation. so if people show up at those stations and see the mess there, they may decide to drive instead. and so we could see continued traffic at the bay bridge toll plaza well beyond what we usually expect during the morning commute. it is 8 18. now let's turn things over to steve paulson. ali first of all, andre is correct. it is still a category four. it went down to a intensified. believe it or not to a category four. this is the highest northern latitude hurricane cat four. ah, since 1982 so i mean, this is a powerhouse system. now, as it moves north, it's going to interact with the system that has dropped into newfoundland. halifax also nova scotia, and it will become a hybrid system so it will not maintain. it'll be extra tropical that will not be hurricane status. it'll be extra travel over, but it did come out hybrid superstorm as it merges in with that system to the

north, so that will happen over the weekend looks like by saturday night overnight in the money, that's when it will plow into eastern canada there, especially nova scotia. so it is a as we say, it's a bomb of a system. really quiet here. just a teeny bit of fog point raised around half moon bay, and that's all i can find everything saying warm to hot for the weekend, although not as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago, that's for sure. but santa rosa up to 88 conquered will go. 90 san francisco 76 85 in san jose. all quiet here, maybe next weekend. there are some signs that forecast models might try and bring some rain in early october, but until we get there we have mother nature giving us lots of sunshine and warmer temps started a little bit yesterday. more so today it will be warmer than yesterday and temperatures and then peek out of it isn't saturday. it'll be sunday. it'll still be pretty mild to warm as we go into, even probably monday, but there are signs that will start to ease off a little bit early next week, probably late monday into tuesday, you guys thank you,

steve. we continue to follow the developing story we've been telling you about about problems on bart and the transbay tube. ktvu is amended. quintana joins us with an update. amanda, you are at the walnut creek park station. what are you seeing there? yes so it is pretty slow here. there's not a lot of people. there's not a lot of people even waiting for a train. so what we've been looking for primarily as you talked about some of those service alerts earlier, there are two service alerts. the major delays between embarcadero west and west oakland in both directions because of an equipment issue on the track. we're hearing this could be because of a power issue on the transbay tube that connects the east bay to san francisco. so what we've been looking for is to see if there are any trains going towards san francisco from this walnut creek bart station, and the sign says that there should be a train going towards san francisco in about two minutes, so it should be coming. and we will see if that train goes on as planned.
8:22 am
but right now bart is using a single track to get through that tube. so that is what's causing delays. bart's asking people to seek other forms of transportation. as i mentioned there's two service alerts. this is the second big issue that we are seeing this morning. the first is the red line that's between richmond and millbrae that they are having a problem. they're saying that some people are going to have to get off bart and transfer to another train to get between millbrae and richmond. their so it's both the red line and the transbay tube that are seen issues this morning. we're also hearing on the loudspeaker continued messages from to tell people to be aware. ready for that major delay. but again, it's friday, so maybe just not a lot of people riding bart here this morning, but we will keep an eye. see if those bart trains end up coming and going towards san francisco without issue or if there is an issue as they go through that single track and

things look ok this morning. 8 32 and let's get back to that story. we just mentioned about barton. you can expect delays throughout the system this morning, especially for those passengers who usually take those trains but from the east bay into san francisco and back , let's head out to american tana live at the bart station and one that creek with a look at what's happening right now, amanda yes, ali. there are two service alerts to be aware of right now with bart. that first one you mentioned the transbay tube there seeming to have some issues there in both directions between embarcadero west and west oakland because of an equipment issue on the track, we're hearing this could be because of a power issue on the transbay tube. that of course, connects the east bay to san francisco. so we're here at the walnut creek bart station. it is pretty quiet. i think it's because it's a friday, not a lot. people writing this morning , but we have been seen the san francisco train come through, so we just saw a san francisco train go through and then the
8:34 am
sign is saying about six minutes until the next train to see if it cisco that last train was pretty full with people and we are hearing the alerts continue to say expect major delays. although you should expect those delays, and they are saying that people should seek other forms of transportation, they are still getting through the tube, so they're using a single track to get through the tube. it's not like there's no service from the east bay to san francisco or in the other direction they are using that single track. now there is a second issue as well this morning. that's the red line between richmond and millbrae. we've been hearing them talk about that on the loudspeaker here as well, talking about how some writers might have to get off and transferred to another train if they're going between richmond and milbury. so two issues to think about this morning, just to be aware of you might see major delays. but here in walnut creek, we are seeing that san francisco train comes through.
8:35 am
it seems like it is busy. there's a lot of people on the train, but it's still coming through. so that is a good sign right now. live in walnut creek. amanda quintana ktvu fox two news. thank you. 8. 35 is your time now this morning we're learning the family of a 93 year old man who died, is suing a senior living facility for allegedly serving him dishwashing liquid instead of juice, court documents show the family of peter schroeder. schroeder has filed a wrongful death suit and elder abuse against atria park of san mateo to residents of the cemetery facility. guide earlier this year after the company says they were accidentally given that dish washing fluid. autopsies are scheduled today for the two men shot and killed monday night near the oakland islamic center. and the string of homicides in oakland is having a big impact at the alameda county coroner's office. the sheriff's office says there is a growing backlog of cases due mostly to the recent homicides that have happened in oakland at least four in the past week. they also report continuing staff problems. the shortage of forensic pathologist people
