change was part of a long, deliberate process, and it's committed to moving forward with the plan to rename the school too. you see college of the law san francisco 4 50 is our time in the middle of fleet week. let's check in with steve paulson for our fleet week forecast. that's been pretty quiet. pretty cool here will gradually warm up some of the inland temps coast and bay, though there's still some fog there that has not disappeared yesterday. monday no fog yesterday. big fog bank, so we had some pretty cool temperatures here. livermore the warmest on this panel, 84 gilroy 82. but for this time you're not too bad. napa santa rosa, san jose and redwood city, 70 to 79 oakland was only 68 in the city was only 63 degrees still fog, but the bases are a little lower the highest building in so i mean, it hasn't disappeared. it's just putting it closer to the deck here, so we're seeing some reduced visibility mile and a half now nevada airport, half mile sonoma county airport and that airports gone from about a mile to 2.5, so it's kind of
4:52 am
dancing around a little bit. and it's more patchy, but no doubt about it. watson ville salinas, monterey, the thickest fog reports are down south towards santa cruz highway one down towards monterey. lots of fog near the coast. not too much working inland, sunny and inland away if you will, and temperatures coming up, although again i'm kind of just easing into this 83 today for napa walnut creekm a cool 74 go 80 ts fifties and sixties on the temps . there are some low 50 san carlos. palo outdoor 51. peddling was 48 sarah santa rosa's 46. so there are some cool readings thirties in the mountains truck. he sounds like the uk is 53 degrees sixties down in southern california, monterey's at 55 so little cool here for some, the highest nosing in. we're in between these systems again, but it will be warmer inland coast in bay, probably not changing all that much. all the bayside will warm up a little bit compared to yesterday. so we'll go warmer inland, but maybe next wednesday next wednesday thursday, there
4:53 am
are some signs of a rather cold system dropping in. this would favor the sierra more than us, but something to watch for about a week away. sixties seventies eighties on the temps each day will bump up the highs a little bit, especially inland, but without a north northeast wind. i don't think the coast and big it all that much warmer, 60 seventies to eighties. otherwise temperatures pretty nice to the weekend when it cools down a little bit. alright sounds good, steve. thank you. a warning from health experts about getting your vaccines up next their predictions for the flu and covid this winter. plus the challenge now is to try to determine what what this person may have in mind in terms of what they want to where they want to strike next. there are new details from police and stockton about their investigation into a serial killer and a possible link to a deadly attack here in the bay area.

target the sub variant strains of covid-19. the us will likely see another surge of covid cases this fall in winter. that's according to scientists who spoke to nature magazine. they say the reasons include new coronavirus variants emerging around the world. more people gathering at indoor events and people not keeping up to date on the latest vaccine boosters. doctors have an additional message for vaccine weary americans. don't skip your annual flu shot this fall. for the first time seniors are urged to get a special extra strength dose. now in the u. s annual flu vaccinations are recommended, starting with six month olds because seniors don't respond as well to the traditional dose. the us now recommends they get one of three types made with higher doses or immune boosting ingredients. much of the population hasn't seen blue for the last two or three years. and if they haven't not many people , so that's the first thing so
4:58 am
we don't have a lot of population immunity. the second reason is that we're seeing the writing on the wall with what happened in australia, new zealand, brazil, argentina, south africa, which is a bigger flu season than even 2019. and we're just bracing ourselves. we're hoping for the best, but you know we're looking at these other countries gives us uh, sign of what might be coming in the u. s. now the companies that make the two most widely used covid vaccines are now testing flu shots made with the same technology. state and federal water officials are warning californians to brace for little or no water from the state's main reservoirs in the coming year. this comes as the u c. berkeley central sierra snow lab, says the data they used to predict future snowfall is becoming less reliable. researchers say that instead of consistent snow, we're starting to see weeks of no new snow between storms. so we're not getting that kind of average

because the highest building in so not the inland push on the fog we saw yesterday so fog near the coast sunny, little warmer. we'll go sixties now coasting by not changing all that much. i mean, they'll bump up a little bit, but inland temps starting to move into the eighties. now mid eighties to a few, maybe pushing operators. alright, so i was here. always optimistic. try to be just like you a glass half full kind of guy, steve. thank you. yes, sir. you know, on twitter? all you see is negativity, right? absolutely you're right. i mean, my goodness. breathe a little bit, people. all right. good morning, everyone. let's go out and see what we have. now, with the commute, you can see it's a nice looking commute. it's not hard to be optimistic about this one. if you're getting on the road early or soon, they should be a decent drive. we've had a couple of things going on out there that have not caused any major slow traffic. the only slow traffic we have right now is the ultimate past commute. a little bit slow coming in over two. oh, five and 5 87 tail bridge looks
5:02 am
pretty good. and the south big commute is off to a great start . it's 501. let's get right back to the headlines. thank you. sal investigators across northern california continue their search for a serial killer. authorities say there is a connection between six deadly shootings, including one in oakland, and now there's a new clue released by the police. look at this grainy surveillance video of a person of interest in the investigation. ktvu is brooks jarocz. tells us how long enforcement is piecing this case together. oh look at this surveillance video notice this man's upright posture and uneven stride. stockton police chief says investigators want to talk to him about a series of killings seen several times near several of the crimes. this person is a person of interest again. we have no evidence that connects this person as committing any of these crimes. seven crimes, leaving six dead. one woman survived. just in stockton. five deadly shootings in recent months, all men all

these kids around here. investigators say the motive is unclear, and so is the number of cases that could be connected or still submitting evidence at this time, which means so far as we've gotten some local hits, but as evidence you know, continues the process and examined it will alert us if there's a match outside of this county or other places now, a plea for clues in community help to find this person of interest . i hope you hurry up and get caught, you know, and, um because we need to be safe here. brooks jarocz ktvu fox two news brooks. thank you, former sheriff of sacramento county, john mcguinness says the release of ballistic information in this case is significant. the challenge now is to try to determine what what this person they have in mind in terms of what they want to where they want to strike. next who the next victim? maybe it sounds like there's some pretty good, uh, variety in terms of the
5:05 am
nature and demographic descriptions of the victims thus far, so it's not as though one particular group of people can be giving an admonishment as 22 courses of action they need to take to protect themselves. this is rather widespread. and here's another look at the image of the person of interest released by police if you know anything about the killings, and stockton or in oakland, call crime stoppers, the numbers right there on your tv screen, and a $125,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest in connection with these killings to make sure you stay right here with us for katie ktvu for more development in the search for this suspected serial killer will bring you the very latest on air and online. just go to ktvu .com. we have an update now on the disappearance of a family in merced county authorities are trying to confirm if a person of interest 48 year old jesus manuel salgado , is the same suspect seen on surveillance video from the original scene where the family

mask was due in court to face a lawsuit over trying to back out of that deal. some analysts question of mask has enough money to pay for the social media company. quite added up all the various sources of money that he has said he has been able to acquire and i think he's still like $15 billion short. the on again off again. deal began back in april with the initial buyout offer twitter accepted, but then weeks later must backed out of the agreement , claiming that he was concerned that twitter was misrepresenting the number of spam accounts. a mask may have a new plan for twitter and a short message he tweeted quote. buying twitter is an accelerant to creating x the everything app. he's gone. i guess a lot of extra attention a lot of folks who have who have talked about him and he was followed him and every single tweet i know we have as a team overseeing that have just followed every little bit of this drama. and so he hasn't
5:09 am
really got a lot. he ultimately the shareholders are the big winners here. they're getting the original deal, which was a big premium over that. the price that twitter was trading at before eli masters offer and so yeah, he's not. he's not getting a lot of this. chang says twitter will be likely insisting on guarantees that ensure musk won't try to back out of the current deal before it closes. time is not 509 happening. today president biden flies to florida he will see first hand the devastation caused by hurricane ian. the president and first lady will go to fort myers, florida to see the damage there. and they're going to meet with residents, small business owners, as well as florida governor ron de santis and other officials. hurricane ian killed more than 100. people in parts of florida's gulf coast is still unreachable. a week after the hurricane made landfall near fort myers, hundreds of thousands of people still have no electricity. utility crews hope to get the power back to

5:11 am
some changes on the way now again, it may you know, it may be a wind event or it may be some snow in the mountains. it's just too far to be a week from today, but until we get there until we get there, we have to deal with some fog. now we don't have the inland push on the fog. that we had yesterday. but there's still some pockets of reduced visibility, although it seems to be getting a little better. has gone up to 10 miles. visibility nevada to seven napa airport from about a mile 23 and santa roosevelt my half mile to two, so some of the thickest fog continues to favor monterey salinas and also watson, ville sofia around santa cruz. maybe down to monterey, and you're heading that way you live down. watch out! there's some thick fog down there. so coast fog more so than bay fog, even though there's patchy fog over there, baby, not the inland push. it will be sunny away today. temperatures bumping up a little bit napa 79 yesterday we'll go 83 today. wanna creek to 86 palo alto san jose. i wanted to go about 78 79, but there was too much information that said. probably 80. so i said, all right, let's go ahead. 82 while the creek yesterday.
5:12 am
that's nice. we'll go 86 today. now again, i'm cooler than many. so my forecast i goes 87 89 88. now again, it would not take much to get the 90 degrees here for some inland temp. so by friday that's for sure. forties fifties on the temps here, 46. i'm a county airport, petaluma at 48 from socal and aptos and watson will some of that fog fifties there to pg 57 caramel. at 53 in monterey at 54, the highest building in so we'll have that warmer inland temps bayside will bump up a little bit. i don't think the coast changes all that much so 60 seventies and eighties, but i draw your attention. there will be a low dropping down. from eastern oregon, idaho, maybe into the sierra, maybe even over us, depending on which forecast model you believe a week from today. now the end result is it will probably pick up the win for us, but it could be a cold system so we shall see 60 seventies eighties on the temps here. warmer weather will take us into friday saturday, then

inland, sonny away warmer temps . uh i'm not as warm as others. i saw some projections. i said no, i don't know they were very wrong. a lot of rejections. yesterday there was too much fog. now there's not as much fog today so napa to 83. walnut creek to 86 palo alto san jose only 74 yesterday i went to 80 today. forties fifties and sixties 46 santa rosa peddling was 47 50, now palo alto low fifties on the peninsula as well. napa airports at 51 degrees free months. 53 60 fairfield 61 lower like a lot of forties here, mill valley one at least that observation, fairfax and ensemble outside of sonoma 48 broader park sebastopol, windsor, healdsburg, leighton ville. all in their bodega bay down to 51 napa 53, the highest building in there's still a lot of fog there, but it's squashing the fall when the high builds in that compresses it so it sends it more down on the ground, so you don't have the inland surge like we did yesterday. 60 seventies coast in bay will go eighties inland. now the key is
5:22 am
going to be next wednesday. the forecast models are really wrestling with the pattern. one couple of projections bring a low in and they do this. they bring the low end right about like here. now that would be windy for us, but would also be cold, not hot and that could produce some activity in this year. so again a week away, lot can change probably will, but to forecast models do bring a low in a week from today in the northern california 60 seventies eighties on attempts, and until we get there, we'll have some warmer, inland temp 60 seventies eighties around the baby. i think everybody can finally sit down their seats and watch the ball game. all right, erin, the wait is over after an historic night in ma the new york yankees solidified his spot in the record books. and more headlines surrounding superstar quarterback tom brady , the latest of the nonstop reports that there are problems in this high profile marriage.

, only 70 redwood city to 79 in napa oakland because of the overcast lasting a long time 68 in the city was only 63 degrees. now we still have fog. there's a lot out there. but the push inland has been reduced dramatically. so it's also the bases are quite low. san martin zero visibility a quarter mile watson ville salinas to monterey. thick fog has been a little bit to the north. but by far and away the thickest has been down south. sunny away warmer temps inland. lots of fog near the coast, so forties fifties sixties on the temps there 47 santa rosa, petaluma as well as in there, the highest building in squashing the fun compressing it, but there's still a ton out there, so unless we get an offshore breeze, i don't think it's going anywhere. so we'll get some warmer attempts inland and temperatures morning clouds and favoring the coast 60 seventies their seventies bayside eighties inland it mainly mid eighties. a week from today could be a big change could be, he says. now there's signs that alone was going to drop in. if it stays on
6:21 am
the least side of this year will get an offshore event. however if it does, this comes in comes in, comes in and goes over here. that would be a cold and windy and maybe showery pattern, so stay tuned to be a week away, but there's already lots of chatter about it. i will say this the p and a, which is a tele connection. that we look at favors the low closer to the west, so we'll see. we'll see 60 seventies eighties. there will not be a quiz. i promise coast fog on the increase for maybe just the coast, but inland temps will bump up to friday. maybe saturday. then it looks cooler on sunday. all right. thank you, steve. another day, another local nobel prize winner, the bay area scientists who became the second one this week to win one of the top prizes in the world. and california's drought could be particularly damaging for certain communities up next, the new concerns from scientists about the future of areas like the central valley

driving slow, and it's good thing, too, because it was a pedestrian in the crosswalk wearing all black really right. and you know, here i am. this is where actions are pretty dark. yeah, this is where i'm glad i'm rolling like my dad. anyway good morning, everyone. let's go out and take be careful out. there is the moral of the story, especially when it's dark. this is the richmond bridge. not looking great. not great, bob. look at all this slow traffic heading across the span here. now it's slow, even just getting onto the bridge. there is report. of a new collision here just happened about 10 minutes ago, westbound bay bridge or restaurant, richmond bridge. a semi versus a toyota toyota vehicle here, blocking one of the lanes and you can see traffic is at a standstill highway four. also not looking great, westbound slow. there was an earlier crash. it's been clear but the damage is done. and you can see for yourself on the map so slow that is and if you're driving to the bay bridge toll plaza, it is backed up to
6:39 am
the maze. 6 38. let's go to steve. now, with a check of today's weather. there's that south castaneda. he's driving like an old man. well you know, when i was younger, i had the lead foot and now i'm glad i drive slow, because some you know these days is kind of tough. especially through neighborhoods. i always slow down going through the neighbor because you never know anymore are yesterday was a cooler day. we had two big big fog bank, and it made it well inland and didn't burn off for a while for some, so livermore on this panel, the warmest at an ice 84 gilroy is 82 napa 79 santa rosa in town, 78 san jose. it was only 74 redwood city. a cool 70 oakland only 68 in san francisco is 63 degrees. we still have fog on the coast. there's a little bit bayside and there's not much inland. what's inland has reduced the visibility. so santa rosa quarter of a mile petaluma three quarters, napa's was down to one another 3 5.5 moon bay after that inland, there's no issues but on the coast, especially down santa clara
6:40 am
valley, san martin, zero, sold out watson villa, quarter a mile salinas and monterey so thick, thick fog around santa cruz down the monterey. keep that in mind if you're in that direction or going that direction, coast fog, it'll be warmer inland due to the other hides building in compressing the fog. so napa 79 yesterday we got 83 today. wanna creek, the 86, palo alto and san jose 74 to 80 degrees forties fifties on most of the temps here, fremont's down to 52 49 palo alto. san carlos at 50 46, petaluma napa airports 50 so there are some cool owes. you can see. there's plenty of low clouds out there in the grave from seattle all the way down the bar. but again, the bases are coming down is that high builds in so we'll get a little bit warmer bump up in those temps today, probably into friday, 60 seventies eighties, most locations being the mid eighties, maybe near 90 by friday. big question will be next week, especially next wednesday. there are signs of a low now it depends on where it goes. if it comes in and stays on the lee side, we will have probably a wind event. however
6:41 am
if it does this and comes to the west, it'll be cold and maybe showery so something to watch for a week from today, 60 seventies eighties on the temps warmer, inland temps coast and but i don't think you're jumping up all that much, but it'll be the warmest day looks to be friday that a little clearer but still nice on the weekend. alright, steve. thank you time 6 41 tesla making a big change to the way it's autopilot works how it could affect drivers and the people around them. alright let's check in with gasia mikaelian in our newsroom. you have some good stories for us coming up here on morning sun, too. we do. there's something fishy going on pam and dave right off the shores of lake irian, ohio, a cheating scandal has rocked the world of competitive fishing coming up in the next hour of mornings on to how some contestants tried to cheat their way to the leaderboard. then we'll focus on what's happening here at home, a community fed up demanding action after a number of violent weeks in oakland. city leaders are working to come up with a plan to quell the spike in
