ktvu fox two. >> the co-owner of a restaurant in the east bay, hoping for drastic changes after a shooting at his business, sends multiple people to the hospital. >> we got to do something about this. this this can't keep happening, and we're not going to, you know, we're not just going to give up, but this can't keep happening. you know, we have to do something. >> chef pierre hill says two people were shot late last night at his restaurant in oakland. he tells us both victims are expected to recover. good evening. this saturday, i'm cristina rendon. pierre hill is the head chef at the upscale steakhouse pierre pierre on 13th street near the tribune tower in oakland. he posted video on instagram just before midnight of what appears to be blood on the floor of the restaurant. tables turned over following a shooting. hill says two people were shot around 9:00 last night. he tells us both victims

are currently in stable condition. ktvu zac sos joins us now live after speaking with hill. zach. >> yeah. cristina. the chef owner, telling me it was a chaotic scene friday night at his downtown oakland restaurant. pierre. pierre. gunfire erupting out of nowhere. chef pierre hill providing us with this cell phone. video of the aftermath. the san francisco born chef, who also goes by chef, says it happened in the middle of a packed service. so far, police have yet to provide any details on the shooting. but as you mentioned, according to him, a man and woman were shot. his restaurant, an upscale steakhouse located on 13th street inside the historic tribune tower. he is regarded as a celebrity chef who has catered for a number of san francisco 49ers players and area musicians. here's how he described some of what unfolded. >> i was just trying to figure out what was going on and get people down. you know, i'm not

used to situations like this. we've been open for a year. we've had five break ins. now we've had a shooting. we opened this business to try to give oakland something new, you know, to try to give oakland something that we don't have. you know, we don't have fine dining here in oakland. you know, oakland, oakland is sometimes forgot about. >> the chef says he's visited both victims in the hospital and that they are expected to recover. as for the restaurant, the shooting causing thousands of dollars in damage. it could be weeks until they're able to reopen. he set up a gofundme page, the oakland police officers association releasing a statement saturday saying in part, quote, the oakland police officers association is doing everything in its power to protect the public. but oakland is outmanned and outgunned and overwhelmed by criminal activity. we need a commitment from the new mayor and council to provide more police officers now to stem the tide of violence and crime and help turn around

oakland. in terms of what led up to all of this, how many suspects were involved? that's currently unclear. we're again awaiting details from oakland police. christina. >> you just got to feel for this owner because we had heard about this restaurant previously from rapper mistah fab, who said he was his friend. he knows how hard this man has worked in these owners have worked to kind of put this restaurant together. did the owner say anything else about whether or not police have reached out to him? >> no, he didn't talk to us about the ongoing investigation. he did say they are reviewing surveillance video. but as you mentioned, yes, incredibly difficult for him right now. these restaurants, they run on very thin margins. >> especially being a black owned restaurant in oakland, zac sos live in our studio. zach. thank you. the oakland police officers association, also addressing a burglary at a bar in oakland. video shows two people breaking into the nightclub on tuesday. this business is two blocks away from pierre. pierre. a safe and alcohol were taken from the club. reportedly, owners tell

ktvu. this is the 11th burglary at that business in the last four years. concord police sharing details of an unusual arrest of a food delivery driver. police say officers pulled over someone riding a motorcycle without plates that was allegedly stolen. the rider told officers he was a food delivery driver and was worried about getting his delivery done on time. police say he asked the officers if he could drop off the order to help preserve his five star rating. they obliged after taking the rider into custody, police in san jose seized 22 pounds of meth, cocaine and $25,000 in cash during a drug bust. two suspects were also arrested. investigators say the seizure was part of a long-term investigation. police found the drugs and cash after serving search warrants at three homes in san jose. a windy start to the weekend here in the bay area, and a live look for you here. out from half moon bay, this is miramar beach at night. a gale warning is in effect along the bay area coast. it did

expire or excuse me, it will expire at 9:00 m tomorrow. we'll bring in ktvu chief meteorologist mark tamayo with more on this. hi, mark. >> hi there. christina. yeah. the strongest winds out toward the coast, but still breezy to windy across a good portion of the bay area earlier today. we still have some wind advisories to talk about as well as we head into your sunday. so strong winds. as you can see these numbers adding up. you can see ocean beach over actually right around 56mph. bodega bay 49mph sfo, the airport 47 miles an hour and half moon bay 36 miles an hour. those amounts not as strong out toward vacaville or oakland, but still breezy to windy. all these areas in blue. these are wind advisories with different start and expiration times. so out toward the coast and out toward san francisco, it's in place right now until 5:00 tomorrow morning, out toward sacramento, out toward solano county. that begins tomorrow morning, 8 a.m, all the way until 8 p.m. monday, and then for the north and east bay hills. that begins tomorrow night, 9 p.m. until 2 p.m. monday. those advisories for sacramento and also for the north and east bay hills will be

linked up to a different wind direction, more out of the northeast. today we had more of an onshore breeze, but the winds will switch around as we do move into your sunday. here's our live camera looking out toward the golden gate bridge. it was windy, of course out toward the span itself earlier today. and this is interesting out, out near the coast for the offshore waters, we actually have what's called a storm warning. so the storm warning is in place until 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. winds could be around 50 to 60 miles an hour and some some dangerous wave heights as well. so just some hazardous conditions as you would expect with all that wind just offshore. as far as the current conditions out there right now, these numbers have backed off quite a bit. santa rosa gusting to 23 miles an hour out toward half moon bay. we have a wind gust to 31 in san jose, only in the single digits. what's happening with this pattern is a big trough, as you can see, that kind of settled in over the bay area. this responsible for more clouds and the gusty winds for today. still some breezy to windy conditions for tomorrow. we'll talk more about that with your full update in just a few minutes. mark.

>> we'll see you then. thank you. new at ten. a kayaker is missing after their canoe flipped in the american river. it happened yesterday under the no hands bridge near auburn. the placer county sheriff's department says two people were on board when, for unknown reasons, the canoe flipped. only one person was able to reach the nearby rocks and is safe tonight. a search is currently underway for that kayaker in portola valley. crews continue search and rescue operations for an elderly woman with dementia who has now been missing for 48 hours, as ktvu bailey ocarroll reports. authorities are telling neighbors how they can help. >> 79 year old margaret elaine mckinley became separated from her family while on a hike in the windy hill open space preserve on thursday. the fire on saturday, search and rescue crews beefed up efforts. 150 trained search and rescue volunteers joined the search to bring mckinley home. >> this is a significant addition to the search and rescue numbers of personnel that

we've had out here. searching for elaine over the last 48 hours. >> today, officials leading the search asked residents living nearby to check any camera footage they may have. >> we want to know if they saw a lane on their camera feed or even if they didn't, because this information is very helpful in allowing us to allocate resources and also to retrace elaine's steps. >> mckinley does have dementia and is considered at risk. rescuers, though feeling confident in their efforts right now, they are also getting help from additional canine units and air resources. >> we have additional horses who are out here today, additional canine units out here today. we continue to utilize our resources in terms of drones and planes to be able to assist us. so we really are able to cover more area within this expansive 1400 acre preserve. and ultimately, you know that that gives us great hope in finding elaine. >> ktvu spoke to ray, a trained search and rescuer, one of the

leads on this operation. he says the terrain is difficult. >> we do have to look in areas that the public normally doesn't see, so it gets really hairy and thick very quickly for searchers, so it's pretty difficult terrain. >> he added. the weather pattern in the area has had drastic swings. >> our searchers are telling us that they're actually getting almost soaking wet from having walked for hours through fog and that sort of mist. it's actually soaking. >> in all. everyone is hopeful that they will find mckinley safe in portola valley. i'm bailey o'carroll, ktvu, fox two news. >> in san francisco. a person is in the hospital tonight after being seriously hurt in a crash. officers were called to the crash near eighth and howard in the city south of market neighborhood just before 6:00 tonight. once on scene, they learned a truck and a motorcycle had collided. this is video here from the scene on the citizen app. the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with major injuries. the truck driver remained on scene for the investigation. it is unclear what led up to the collision.

wildlife officials in sonoma county say a large black bear was killed after it was hit by a truck. the press democrat reports the 430 pound bear was hit at about 4:30 a.m. on tuesday in forestville on river road. the chp says this crash triggered the airbags on the chevy truck. the condition of the driver was not released, and we are told a biologist picked up the animal a few hours later. >> i've never seen so many all together and all lined up and yeah, it's really nice. >> cinco de mayo is not until monday, but celebrations are already underway in the bay area. a look at some of the festivities happening this weekend. and new data out looking at unemployment in the united states. why me are

greg abel to be his replacement. able has been buffett's designated successor for years. during buffett's announcement, he also addressed tariffs, saying they can be an act of war and should not be used as a weapon. the city of palo alto is getting $581,000 to install new charging electric stations across the city. the money is coming from a grant from the metropolitan transportation commission, a city. officials say this plan is to install 24 ev charging stations near key public locations, such as cooley landing, city hall and the senior center. installation is expected to begin within two weeks. >> well, we'll still be tracking some winds for portions of the bay area in your sunday forecast, but lots of sunshine tomorrow and a bit of a warm up. that's in fact kind of the headline with temperatures will begin to warm things up for sunday into monday and tuesday, and lots of sunshine out there as well. here's our live camera looking above san francisco with mostly clear skies. we could have some patchy cloud cover

redevelop overnight, but the main driver behind the wind event today, you can see this deep area of low pressure moving into central and southern california. this also producing some rain and high elevation snowfall in the sierra, with snow levels primarily up above 8000 8500ft. but you can see some instability here with some lightning strikes detected earlier this evening across portions of northern california. so a bit of instability in the air as we come in closer. as i mentioned, we have clear to partly cloudy skies. and of course, the winds have been backing off in most areas, but still a bit of a breeze out towards santa rosa, gusting to 23mph out toward sfo. winds out of the west at 28, and half moon bay and northerly breeze at 29mph. here is a look at our current numbers out there. not incredibly cold temperatures right now in the 50s, around 53 to 50 4 to 55 degrees for the 10:00 hour overnight temperatures starting out the day in most neighborhoods in the 40s, with partly cloudy skies and some gusty winds, especially for the higher elevations of the bay area, especiay up in the

caught on camera. five plane crash victims are rescued after surviving two days in the amazon rainforest. the small plane crashed wednesday in a remote region of bolivia. authorities say the five managed to survive for more than 36 hours. perched atop the crashed plane in a swamp that was infested with alligators. the small aircraft was carrying three women, a child and the pilot. it made an emergency landing after the pilot reported technical issues. they were spotted by local fishermen who heard their cries for help. new data shows that people are moving out of san francisco yet again. the state department of finance says the city lost about 3300 people from january 2024 to january 2025.

that puts san francisco's population at around 842,000 people. meantime, the state as a whole saw a jump in population growing by an estimated 108,000 people from the start of 2024 to 2025. the increase marks the second consecutive year of population growth since the covid 19 pandemic. golden gate park is now home to a new breast cancer memorial garden. this space was officially dedicated today. organizers say this is the first memorial of its kind dedicated to the lives lost due to breast cancer. the garden is the result of ten years of planning between bay area young survivors and the city's recreation and parks department volunteers rolled up their sleeves in the east bay today to help build playhouses for deserving families. people lined up this morning at the kaiser walnut creek campus to help build five playhouses. the event was put together by habitat for humanity. the organization says kaiser has been key in helping it build homes for low income families.

controversy. one of the main concerns is over access to the popular boca chica beach. >> i think it's important to recognize that pretty much the boundaries of the city follow along state highway four, which is the only access point onto boca chica beach. people are concerned that with the new municipality, that there may be changes to how people can access the beach, whether it's during launch times or if there's other restrictions that are placed on the roadway. >> the beach brings in tens of thousands of visitors every year. any spacex rocket launch engine test, or even just moving equipment requires closing that local highway that gives access to the beach. and critics say the creation of starbase would be giving musk too much control. but on the other hand, election officials say the creation of a new city is an indication of growth. critics also say they're concerned about the environmental consequences, as starbase plans to do around 25

last year. the duke of sussex said he wants to reconnect with the royal family, but he also created speculation over his father's poor health. >> life is precious. i don't know how much longer my father has, you know, he he he won't speak to me because of this security stuff. but it would be nice to it would nice. it would be nice to reconcile. >> on friday, the court of appeal in london rejected harry's attempt to have his publicly funded security restored, saying a government committee was justified in deciding that security arrangements should be decided on a case by case basis. whenever harry visits the uk, which is the same process for other high profile visitors. buckingham palace released a statement saying in part, quote, all of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion. the duke of sussex's protection was downgraded back in february 2020, when he stepped down as a full time member of the royal family and moved to the u.s. with his wife, meghan. harry

donations will be returned. crews responded to a fire in san francisco's mission district. the one alarm fire broke out this morning in a residential building on folsom between 23rd and 24th streets. sf fire shared video of the scene on social media. crews say this fire was contained to one room. two victims were evacuated by fire department paramedics and the cause is under investigation. >> well, strong winds today across parts of the bay area. the wind advisory continues right now out toward the coast right around san francisco. it's going to shift around a bit in your sunday forecast, but at least for right now, the current wind advisory is out toward the coast. as you can see, including san francisco. the winds actually peaked earlier today, but that advisory is until 5:00 tomorrow morning. so more neighborhoods under a wind advisory that's out towards sacramento, solano county. that advisory begins 8:00 tomorrow morning until 8 p.m. monday. and then the north bay hills, the east bay hills. this advisory action begins sunday night into monday afternoon, and the winds

will be kind of moving around out of a different direction. and that will actually warm up those numbers as well. so in general, tomorrow winds will be around 15 to 25 miles an hour. not as strong as today, except the areas will have stronger winds up in the hills and also out towards solano county. so here's the breakdown for the coast. fair skies and breezy. more sunshine out there and some warming temperatures. bay area wide. the warmest locations tomorrow. back up into the mid to upper 70s. baseball weather in san francisco for the giants. the rockies. we're expecting lots of sunshine and temperatures on track to reach the low to mid 60s throughout the game. here's a look at the satellite. in fact, the big picture here you can see a big trough moving over california here in this producing the winds today. this in part producing the winds today. and also a bit of unsettled weather, especially out toward the sierra. they have the rain and the high elevation snow showers, with snow levels primarily up above 8500ft and some lightning strikes, as you can see earlier, closing in on portions of the lake county. so right now we have clear to partly cloudy skies, and there's not a lot to show you on the

radar right now, but we still have a bit of a breeze out there to show you. right now you can see some neighborhoods, santa rosa gusting to 23 miles an hour out toward sfo. you can see winds gusting to 28. compare that to mountain view. just a calm wind there in san jose in the single digits. here's our live camera looking out toward the golden gate bridge. current numbers out there in the 50s, around 52 to 53 to around 55 degrees. partly cloudy skies. first thing tomorrow morning for your sunday and some gusty winds out there, especially for the higher elevations and also out toward solano county. temperatures tomorrow morning in the 40s to right around 50 degrees. and here's the forecast model. as you can see as we run this, you can see a change in the wind flow, more less of an onshore breeze and more of an offshore breeze that will develop into monday. but here you can see the wind speed projections throughout the day on your sunday notice it's not a calm wind. you see winds around 15 to 20 2 to 26 miles an hour. and then into monday, we'll see more of a northeast wind here. that's that wind change that will usher in some warmer air

and still some breezy to windy conditions, especially in solano county and the north bay hills in the east bay hills. so here's a setup. there's that area of low pressure. we have this area of high pressure offshore here, and that will set the stage for more sunshine and warming temperatures for sunday. breezy to windy and the real warming is going to move in early next week for monday and tuesday. so take a look at the numbers for tomorrow. warmer than today. more 70s out there san francisco, mid 60s. and here's a look ahead. your five day. it's a warm forecast monday and into tuesday. the warmest locations back up into the lower 80s. partly sunny skies by wednesday and a nice forecast into thursday as well. so looking pretty good over the coming days. once those winds back off, we'll have a nice little warm pattern setting up across the bay area. >> sounds good mark. thank you. the de young museum in san francisco hosted its annual de youngsters day out for children. the event is free for bay area families and it's with art making activities, live performances and dance lessons. even 49ers football star george kittle made a surprise

appearance at this event. the youngsters day out was created to raise funds for arts education at the museum. proceeds also support free student field trips to the museum. we now have an update on the women's sports bar that we have been following set to open in san francisco. ricky's sharing today. it is now fully funded. they raised their $425,000 goal thanks to 225 investors. this bar hopes to open up soon at their new home at market and sanchez in the castro district. the owners hope to give women's sports fans a place to call their own here in the bay area, especially with so much recent buzz about the golden state valkyries and the oakland soul soccer team. for the fourth year in a row, the city of piedmont is hosting an event to introduce girls to all different types of sports they can play. play like a girl is designed to introduce and encourage girls of all ages to try new sports. this event is happening tomorrow featuring high school, college and even professional athletes representing 29 different sports. some of them are more

jj bleday with this solo homer, his fourth of the year. and just like that, a's lead two. nothing in the second. they're up six five in the bottom of the ninth. but marlins have bases loaded here kyle stowers hits it to deep left center field. this is a walk off grand slam. that is just about the worst way to lose a ball game. a's fall to the marlins 9 to 6. as for the warriors, their season is on the line tomorrow night in houston after the rockets force a game seven. stephen curry started to heat up to get the dubs back into this game last night in the third quarter, but fred vanvleet started the fourth quarter with this four point play right there. and the rockets just stole the momentum and never looked back. vanvleet had 29 points on the night. warriors didn't do themselves any favors. they missed 13 straight shots throughout the fourth quarter. curry, though, remains optimistic for game seven tomorrow. >> they're the two seed. they have home court advantage in the series because they had a really good team, and they've demonstrated that all season. we've been on a run since the
