>> well, good morning to you and thank you for joining us. welcome to mornings on two. i'm dave clark. >> good morning i'm pam cook. it is wednesday june 11th. let's check in with steve paulson for our forecast. >> i think you know it. there's not much changing here that's for sure. a roaring wind for some overnight 40mph out at cordelia, 40mph. also out of travis. and as this computer going to work, i don't know, maybe we'll see. maybe. maybe not. there it is, 50s on the temps, and it is cloudy to mostly cloudy for everyone. another big fog bank. temperatures 50s 60s coast and bay. today. there will not be much change. thunderstorms died down yesterday. that's the good news. but wind of change has been screaming for some here. another big fog. bank fog slowly burning back. no big changes. still chilly to warm. breezy to windy at times. and temperatures similar to yesterday. there's not going to be a lot of change. all right. james torres is here i think for sal. and he tells us hopefully it's all right out
5:01 am
there. >> yeah. not bad steve. good morning to you. not too much to worry about on the freeways this morning. i do want to point your attention down to the city of san jose this morning, san jose police department telling us that they are working on a deadly car crash on their city roads there. that's on eastbound toll road from galveston avenue to center road. that part of the stretch is closed right now. it will be closed for several hours as officers investigate that crash. again, eastbound toll road now closed from galveston avenue to center road. but for the most part, the rest of the bay area. green light conditions all the way around. i do want to let you know that bart is having a 20 minute delay on the san francisco line in all directions due to some what they call unscheduled maintenance between montgomery and 16th street. that's the mission street bart station. we'll let you know when that gets a little bit better. 501 we'll go back to dave on the desk. >> all right, james, thank you. well, police officers have been in downtown los angeles all night after mayor karen bass issued a curfew. the curfew is in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
5:02 am
it helped to keep things pretty calm during the night. the los angeles police says 25 people were arrested for violating the curfew about 9:00 last night, and it comes after five straight days of protests in los angeles over the trump administration's increased immigration enforcement and the deployment of the national guard, and protesters shut down highway 101 in downtown la, blocking all of the southbound lanes of traffic. they got onto the freeway through a gap in a chain link fence. the chp quickly moved those protesters off the freeway. >> california is in a legal battle with the trump administration over the president's decision to send military forces to los angeles. ktvu allie rasmus joining us now with the hearing. a judge has scheduled ali. >> yeah, that hearing scheduled for tomorrow. but before that, in an address to californians and really, the nation, governor gavin newsom called the president's actions unprecedented and illegal.
5:03 am
pardon me. he says president trump overstepped his authority with the decision to commandeer national guard troops against the governor's wishes and send about 700 active duty marines to los angeles in the wake of the protests that broke out during some of ice's immigration enforcement actions that began friday evening. now, los angeles police say the initial protests against those actions were peaceful. and even when things got out of hand with some graffiti and vandalism. l.a. county sheriffs and the police department say they had it under control. governor newsom said in his speech last night that the decision by the president to then send military force purposely escalated the situation and said the president doesn't have the authority to respond to vandalism, graffiti and protests with a military presence. >> the law upon which the president relies does not give him that authority. it requires the existence of a rebellion. there's none. >> if we didn't send out the national guard. and last night we gave them a little additional help. you would have. los
5:04 am
angeles would be burning right now. >> he's using his quote title ten power. and what does that allow? it allows the national guard to only function in a support role. you can't be the one executing warrants and executing search warrants, arrest warrants. but you can support federal agents and support federal property. >> california. california's attorney general, rob bonta, filed an emergency court order to block the president from using the military to respond to the situation in los angeles. a hearing on that lawsuit is scheduled for tomorrow. governor newsom says any criminal behavior during the protest will be prosecuted, but warned that if the trump administration is allowed to send the military to a protest and its aftermath, this type of response will become the norm, not just for these protests in los angeles, but for any type of demonstration across the country. the governor warned, quote, other states are next. end quote. back to you, dave. >> all right, ali, thank you. time now. 504 president trump still defending the decision to
5:05 am
send the national guard and hundreds of u.s. marines into los angeles. and he says they will stay there until there's peace on the streets. the president went to fort bragg, north carolina. that's where about 50,000 active soldiers are based. and he continued to attack the city of los angeles and governor newsom. in the span of a few decades, los angeles has gone from being one of the cleanest, safest, and most beautiful cities on earth to being a trash heap with entire neighborhoods under the control of transnational gangs and criminal networks. very simply, we will liberate los angeles and make it free, clean, and safe again. it's happening very quickly. >> now, president trump also plans a military parade in washington, d.c. weekend, marking the 250th anniversary of the u.s. army. meanwhile, other republican lawmakers, including the house speaker, are joining the attacks on governor newsom after president trump publicly
5:06 am
voiced his support for arresting governor newsom. >> i'm not going to give you legal analysis on whether gavin newsom should be arrested, but but he ought to be tarred and feathered, i'll say that. i mean, look, he's standing in the way of the administration and the carrying out of federal law. >> the governor newsom, responded to speaker johnson on social media. he wrote, quote, good to know we're skipping the arrest and going straight for the 1700 style form of punishment. a fitting threat given the gop wants to bring our country back to the 18th century. >> we're told at least four people were taken into custody by ice agents in concord as they were attending immigration court proceedings. a group of about 100 protesters tried to prevent a man from being loaded into a vehicle and taken away. we're told that he and others were in court to seek asylum in the u.s.
5:07 am
demonstrators say they came to make their voices heard. >> here because a lot of families are being ripped away by ice, and this is not acceptable. and we need to speak up. >> there were tense moments as the suv tried to make it through the crowd of protesters, with pushing and shoving between federal agents and demonstrators. legal advocates say they fear these scenes will impact other immigrants. >> everyone that comes to court is taken into custody. in fact, most people are not. we are still pursuing people's asylum cases and still winning cases. and what's important for the community to know is that if you don't come to court, then the immigration authorities will order you deported so that you cannot ever have your hearings. >> attorneys say they were able to give counsel to three of the people arrested. immigration hearings in concord and san francisco were canceled yesterday because of arrests and protests. >> time now. 507 the san mateo
5:08 am
county board of supervisors voted unanimously to renew almost $2 million in funding for support services for immigrants in the county, and that includes money for eight immigration lawyers. advocates say free public defenders are not a legal right in immigration court, which often leads to immigrants to rely on finding their own legal help. >> if you've been deported in the past and they're reinstating that prior removal order or prior deportation order, or if you've been in the country less than two years and they decide to institute expedited removal proceedings, they then you have to pass a credible fear interview in order to have your asylum case heard by the immigration judge. >> now, attorneys say almost everyone who's detained is legally entitled to a hearing with a judge. but there are exceptions in certain circumstances. >> san francisco police now say nearly 90 people were arrested following monday night's protests. the mayor says the vast majority of those who
5:09 am
gathered were peaceful throughout the rally and march. but there were smaller groups that clashed with police later in the night. so far, it seems things were mostly calm in the city last night. several san francisco supervisors are condemning the federal immigration push and defending the right to protest. they've proposed a resolution to reaffirm the san francisco's status as a sanctuary city and commend groups that support immigrant families. >> well, if you enjoyed yesterday, you'll like today another big fog bank out there. drizzle coast and bay. morning. clouds. sunny. breezy, clearing. windy and there have been gusts 40 miles an hour out. cordelia and also out to travis 5952. this would be the third day in a row the city does not get over 60. if this verifies 66, 53 is average below on both records. 9220, 1947 and 19 1150s on the temps 51. concord, livermore,
