showing up yet? it was on this day five months ago las vegas's dream of a professional sports franchise came true. tonight at 5:30pm, owner bill foley, general manager george mcphee and nhl commissioner gary bettman will unveil our team name & logo. foley has done a great job of keeping the am name secret but here are some of the names that have been circling around the internet. las vegas black knights las vegas golden knights las vegas silver knights las vegas desert knights or my favorite las vegas "fox5 news with dave, maria, cassandra, ken, mike, peter & alyssa" knights anything name is possible. it makes sense to me, silver and the silver state. it's just a guess, but that's my guess. a curveball is possible. i think it's one of the three. what does that

we'll just have to wait and see. foley and his team are expecting a huge crowd here at the toshiba plaza outside the t- mobile arena. live entertainment, activities for the kids, youth hockey players skating on an outdoor rink and appearances by former nhl players. and of course merchandise being sold at the official team store. hats, shirts, pucks everything except jerseys. apparently adidas is taking over as the official nhl supplier from reebok and jerseys won't be available until next year. but 5:30pm is when we'll know our team name and 5:31 is when hockey fans around the world will take to the internet to pledge their love or hatred of it.

reckless driving. the bus was mangled around a tree at the scene.. and the students riding onboard at the time of the crash ranged in grades kindergarten to 5-th grade. authorities have arrested the man accused of killing a texas police officer over the weekend.. police believe 31- year-old otis tyrone mckane shot and killed 50-year old detective benjamin marconi while he was writing a ticket in front of the san antonio police headquarters on su mckane says he was angry about a child-custody battle.. and "lashed out at somebody who didn't deserve it." in all...4 police officers were attacked in 3 different states over the weekend. law enforcement officials say there is an alarming spike in ambush style attacks.. the national law enforcement officers memorial fund reveals one-third of police officers shot to death on the job this year were purposely targeted by their assailant. henderson police officers are taught these statistics and

shooter training.. so they can be more aware and know what to look out for before its too late. jb: "this training isn't in place to make officers paranoid its in place to make officers focus on the right thing at the right time." henderson police train every 30-45 days on use of force and when and where to use it. the department had one deadly officer involved shooting last year... none this year. fox5 got a taste of what a night as a police officer is like.. by riding along with metro's convention center area command as they patrolled the strip. nat compilation "we heard an alert go out, we jumped in our car and responded... we got there in under 2 minutes" in the 6 hours we spent with them.. 3 arrests were made. and by the end of the night police

starbucks is sneaking in a price hike this holiday season.. it's starting to cost more for certain cold drinks and baked goods. the coffee chain says most of the menu -- including

tea -- did not go up.. but some cold beverages and bakery items were raised 10 to 30 cents. back in july, starbucks raised the price of some coffee drinks by as much as 20 cents.. while espresso and latte beverages saw prices rise from 10 to 30 cents. boeing is reorganizing its aerospace business.. narrowing it's focus on servicing aircraft. that makes it boeing's third premier division, joining commercial aircraft and its defense and space department. boeing's chief executive says the global services operation will be up and running in the summer or early fall of next year.. and will be based in dallas. travelers can breath a sigh of relief. about 500 workers at chicago's o'hare airport say they'll call off a strike.. at least until after thanksgiving. workers are seeking union rights and a 15- dollar an hour wage.. they work mainly for private contractors at the airport and include baggage handlers, cabin cleaners,

the president- elect for thanksgiving.. as donald trum will spend the holiday with his family at his mar- a-lago home in florida. trump backed out of a meeting he had with the new york times this morning.. but now his spokesperson says that's back on.. either way -- he is keep us all updated through a video he released himself. trump: "our transition team is working very smoothly, efficently and effectively.. truly great and talented men and women -- patriots indeed -- are being brought in and many will soon be a part our

great again." a top adviser to donald trump is suggesting that the president- elect is going to help hillary clinton "heal" and not pursue a probe of her private email server. kellyanne conway says that "he doesn't wish to pursue these charges." meantime.. anti- trump protests continue.. here's a look at one in portland on monday.. where about 100 students got together against trump. despite the demonstrations.. a new c-n-n and o-r-c po 53-percent of americans say trumo will do a good job as president.. and his favorability rating is now 47- percent. protesters against a proposed pipeline in north dakota are demanding the morton county sheriff resign.. at least 150 people where hurt when officers used water cannons, tear gas and rubber bullets against hundreds of people demonstrating earlier this week. some people were treated with hypothermia

sharing is caring. the kids over at "merryhill preschool" just learned a lesson about giving back to others. for weeks, the students had been collecting non-perishables for "nevada partnership for homeless youth." yesterday, they took a field trip to the food pantry to personally deliver their donations. this is the second year merryhill has held the drive. a valley tradition, 14 years in the making, returns to brighten the holidays for families in need. for over a decade, commissioner lawrence weekly has been holding an annual turkey giveaway. this year-- more than 300 families walked away with turkeys and thanksgiving side dishes. commissioner weekly partnered with three square for the event. our own holiday food drive continues at vons and albertsons.. fox5 and our take5 to care

welcome its first class of students for the new medical school. so what does this mean for the university and our community. fox 5's kevin bolinger joins us with a preview of a special report you'll see tonight at 4 and 10. kevin on cam: unlv has made no secret about the fact the school was pushing money, resourc efforts to becoming recognized as a tier one research university. one of the key elements to gaining that status is a medical school but it's also a big step forward for southern nevada. video nevada is in the bottom tier of states with primary care physicians per one hundred thousand population. the hope is...as the medical school evolves and add additional research arms on top of residency programs, students who graduate will stay in the area...not only helping the
