this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. >> well the transition of power is just a few hours away as donald trump becomes president anbar ac obama becomes a private citizen. we're in washington to find out who the local residents are going to the inauguration. >> and overnight, "eyewitness news" was there, as busloads of demonstrators left philadelphia for washington dc to protest the trump inauguration, but you don't have to go to the nation's capitol to find people taking to the street. >> fire destroys in juniata park. >> good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm january car bay o we're getting your day started on the right foot with a check on
weather and traffic with katie and meisha. >> you were so excited it is friday. i'm right there with you. so i can tell you also that the roads are looking really good. still really early, looking dry, but we do have some protests coming up later on blocking some roads, we'll talk about that. >> pack along the umbrella it won't be raining for your morning commute. but later into the day today rain will be coming down. so little foggy, little sad, if you forget your rain slicker today. but dry conditions right now. lit bit chilly. certainly damp as you step outside early this friday morning. 34 degrees right now in philadelphia. so we're off to colder start than yesterday. winds are calm. not so much after windchill impact. >> down to 30 degrees, sub freezing at the shore, actually more mild in the poconos, than along the coast, 31 degrees right now, with wind out of the south-southeast at around 5 miles per hour. storm scan3 showing us we do have high level cloud cover in place, philadelphia and point northward. but you do see that cloud deck, that is much more dense
off to the south and west. that will continue to move its way in across our skies, leaving us to mostly cloudy to cloudy conditions through the day today. >> then further off to the south and west on storm scan3, that area of precipitation, that is going to be moving into our backyard, as we head into the day today. so in your day planner do have rain in the forecast, bring along the umbrella for the 9:00 hour. mostly cloudy, chilly, 38 degrees by the lunch hour, rain likely arriving, some showers starting to move in, then more in the way of uniform rain as we head into the afternoon hours. meisha, it could linger around into our evening commute. we have to watch for slick roadways and some ponding but at least it is friday. so we have that. >> i was just going to say that, at least it is treatment for the morning commute it is dry right now. looking good right now. good morning, everyone, happy friday indeed. tgif to you. very early and dark out there. what we are dealing with some construction, route one oxford valley both directions closed but looks like that's now opening. it should be opening in the next few minutes, overall we should be looking okay there.
just a heads up, that project is out there. and clearing. then the vine was not closed overnight, for the construction project between the schuylkill and broad. looking good there on the vine as women. dow want to pull your attention to. >> this we do have planned protests going on today starting at noon. this is going to be around center city, city hall, independence mall, at 1:00 p.m. rally at temple. so heads up on that. more information also, women's march on philadelphia, that is on saturday. surrounding the inauguration, 7:00 a.m., when everyone will be gathering, 7:00 a.m. when they are gathering, 10:00 a.m. when it begins it, will go through 3:00 p.m. saturday. and primarily on the ben franklin parkway. so we will have some road closures through 4:00 p.m. on the ben, kelly, mlk drive, roads surrounding the area, heads up up that. back to you. >> in just a few hours, donald trump will take the oath that will make him america's 45th president. >> last night the president-elect and his wife, melania, attended cans the lyle dinner at washington junior square. vice president elect mike
pence and his wife joined them. few celebrities including caitlin jenner attended. the president-elect also gave a shout out to south jersey native, kelly ann conway who ran his campaign. nearly 1 million people will witness the inauguration today. our jessica dean is in washington dc where she talked to p.m. from the delaware vale for who who were there from the occasion. >> good morning from washington, d.c., today the us will inch august rate its 45th president donald j trump. mr. trump and his family arrived in the nation's capitol yesterdayment they went through many events, all in anticipation of the events today when the inauguration will take place. also here in washington, d.c., a lot of people from the delaware valley. >> ♪ i'm proud to be an american ♪ >> thursday night's concert and fireworks led to a celebration for president-elect donald trump and his supporters. >> i promise you that i will work so hard. we're going to get it turned around. we're going to bring our jobs
back. we're not going to let other countries take our jobs any longer. >> many have traveled to the nation's capitol for the inauguration. we caught up with people from the delaware valley, who made the trip. from bucks count. >> i here to see history in the making. here to experience it first-hand, see president trump and the office. we thought it important to see the important moment in history. >> he and his mother both supported trump in the election. they say they're looking forward to seeing him govern. >> i think if we really respect each other, love each other, and listen, to both sides, i think that people will grow to love him and really grow to see that he is going to evolve into a wonderful president. >> the president-elect and his family arrived in washington, around noon on thursday. mr. trump laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at arlington national cemetery. he also spoke at a congressional leadership luncheon, and members every his new administration. >> we have by far the highest

homeland security secretary. democrats say they want full rigorous debate on the president-elect's remaining nominees. republicans are accusing the democrat of grand standing. live coverage of the inauguration, our jessica dean will have live reports from the nation's capitol later today on "eyewitness news". well, while some folks are planning to protest throughout the city today, others are heading south to watch our president-elect take the oath of office. >> "eyewitness news" reporter tran dough live at 30th street station where hundreds are making their way to dc nor the inauguration, trang, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jim, january, yes, many of the trains to dc are already sold out. there is some limited availability. meanwhile, dozens every people from our area are headed down to the nation's capitol via bus. we caught up with people boarding bus frost center city at 2:00 a.m. this morning. the group plans to protest president-elect donald trump's inauguration, then return to the area by about 9:00 p.m.
tonight. they're just one of several groups that boarded buses early this morning to head down to dc to make sure their voices are heard. >> we have the power, the government doesn't have the power, and that we can hold the government accountable for what they do, especially in light of the inauguration, the appointments, the cabinet appointments, and just the general feeling that the country's going to be run by a group of billionaires. >> philadelphia police are also gearing up for protests here locally. coming up at 5:00 i'll tell when you people with expect those demonstrations. for now live from 30th street station, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". all right, trang, thank you. meanwhile new this morning, violence on the street of south philadelphia leaves a man dead overnight. police tell us the 31 year old victim was shot in the head-on the 2100 block of eagle street, just after 1:00 this morning. anyone information is asked to call philadelphia police.
also, new overnight, fire destroys a pizza shop in philadelphia's juniata park section. you can see firefighters blasting water from inside wyoming pizzeria at wyoming and whitaker avenues. we're told a fire also destroyed ants above the store. firefightersfire fight had the s under control in about a half hour. fortunately there were no injuries. >> well, police chase ends with a crash on i-95 and this morning the suspects are in custody. chopper three over the crash last night, southbound lanes near route 322 in chester, police say the driver of the suv lost control and crashed, while officers pursued him. police tell us that the suspect in the suv took off after robbing a mcdonald on edgemont avenue in brookhaven. >> there is much more to cover here on cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a reputed drug kingpin from mexico waits for justice on american soil. find out what charges he'll face when he heads to court. >> and when the baby just wouldn't wait. new jersey state troopers assist in a very special

>> welcome back everyone, the reputed drug kingpin known as el chapo waited you can in a jail cell. arrived in long island from mexico last night. today he's set to appear in federal courtroom in brooklyn where indictment accuses him from overseeing a trafficking operation that sent billions of dollars in profits back to mexico. if convicted guzman faces life in prison. >> hope is fading rescuers will find more survivors in italian luxury hotel burried by avalanch. two survivors called for help after the snow came crashing in. at least two dozen others remain missing. rescue crews, who had hard time reaching the hotel, discovered several bodies. avalanch follows several long earthquakes in the same area. a south jersey woman found
herself giving birth in an unusual place in cumberland county yesterday morning with a little help from the new jersey state police. she went into labor on the way to the hospital. so pulled into the port norris station, baby was almost out but needed little bit of help. that's when four state troopers sprang into action. >> you have a moment to digest what's happening, and then you have to react. and like i said, as group, as a station, everyone came together and pulled it out. >> just so funny because they were all just like okay, we're about to do this. they were midwives or something. >> now, both mom and baby are doing well. >> you got to do what you got to do. >> got to have a sense of humor about it, too. the baby is doing fine. and with a sense of humor, lauren casey. >> oh, thank you. hi, lauren. >> thanks, guys. i feel like i should make like

precipitation will be moving into the delaware valley. but first, it is going to be moving into the washington, d.c. area, those attending inauguration today will have to prepare for rain. rain arriving, 49 degrees, so mild temperatures, as far as seasonable averages, but yes, they will be contend withing rain coming down, and light to moderate in intensity, head into the upcoming weekend closer to home, mild saturday, up to 55 degrees. clouds around, and some sunshine. nice forgetting out and about. sunday rain returns to the forecast, high temperatures still in the 50's. meisha, on monday, whew, looks like rough day both for the morning and the evening commute. but, that's a few days away. >> quick. all right, welshing we will just focus on friday then, what do you say, tgif good morning. so what we're looking at right now, the schuylkill westbound, onramp girard avenue, heads up on that. you can see we have a lot of activity out there. a lot of fog, lights on, and on a friday morning it is not
