BUT it does not quite succeed..I appreciate rhe sincerity of the views expressed by ths video..However, I think it needs further editing . I am going to try by running the video in win xp movie maker..I will convert the farm scenes to SEPIA and leave military in b/white. I will try to delete the sound in the military scenes as I thinj rhat it would be more effective as silemt The director,s notes (below_are very informative and an excellent resource for editing and other techniques

In case anyone would like easier to work with source material, please let me know.
As well, I have come up with a relatively painless way to transcode the high res MPEG2 files that ARCHIVE.ORG makes available.
(((You will need the MPEG2 Plugin for Quicktime Player Pro. for Quicktime to recognize the MPEG2 format.)))
1. Open in Quicktime Player Pro (vers. 6 or higher).
2. Select an Export Option. I tend to use the 720x486 Quicktime (.mov) option. Make sure the settings are as follows:
First select:
1.) Movie to Quicktime Movie.
(or whatever codec that is consistent with the NLE you use (most windows based applications are .avi, most Macs are .mov)
Select "Options..."
Then, under "settings," choose:
2.) "Animation" Compression or whatever codec you like, animation tends to be the least compressed. Click okay.
3. Under Filter, use whatever you like.
4. Under Size, choose Custom and put in the following: Width:720 Height:486. (these are standard DV sizes, they will look normal in the NLE.)
Finally, choose a location to save to, give it a filename and click save.
Depending on the size of the file this may take some time. Once it is finished you will have the video portion capable of being imported into your NLE.
Then do the same with the Audio.
And there you go.
This works with AVid XPress DV and Pro.
Let me know if you have any questions.
