A soldier pleads to the folks to home to conserve scarce wartime resources.
Shotlist
In the jungles of Bataan, two American soldiers, unable to see enemy planes because of night blindness are hit by a Japanese bomb. Pete is killed outright, Johnny dies on the operating table, his last words, "I've got to write a letter." Johnny's "letter"- the one he was going to write- reaches home in America one morning as a neighbor is bragging of her hoard of groceries, as his kid brother skids his car around a corner on two wheels. Johnny's letter is a moving plea to the folks at home to see to it that other American soldiers have the things he and Pete lacked on Bataan, food so that they won't have night blindness and hunger cramps, guns and shells and planes so that they can fight.

Subject: Compelling short film!
Pretty good 40's acting with a good story line.
Our film first starts out over-seas WWII where solders are ambushed and badly wounded because shortages of supplies, the next scene is in the operating room where our boy "Johnny" dies of shortages of antithetic while doc attempting amputation.
The rest of the film shows the folks at home when they receive a letter from "Johnny" and a telegram informing them of his unfortunate death..

Subject: Effective film for W.W.II civilians.
Historically shows the suffering of our soldiers during World War II, and the sacrifices the civilians at home had to make.

Very similar to "Freedom Comes High", where a letter from a soldier on the front telling the folks back home that War Is Hell before of course, they get "That Telegram" provides an amusing loop with the 'twist' at the end and the Twilight Zone graphics. Does that make sense?
A soldier fighting writes a letter home, where Susan Hayaward (!) and folks are waiting for any news. As they read the letter, which bitches about how people should save up their rubber, steel, heck, even their bacon fat to fight the Japs, the soldier's image (kind of ghost like.. uh oh) shares in the narration). The letter says how a man who was fighting with him got night blindness, shot and who knows what else. Soon after they finish that letter and saying "thank goodness our son is safe!" they get "the telegram". The ending I won't spoil for you, but, it's a very Rod Serling moment. Cue the music!

Subject: a timely reminder
a well presented AND honest film. A tribute to the soldiers serving overseas during world war two. Telling patriots in their safe homes to change their bad habits
