Author's comments:
My friend who shall remain nameless was supposed to do this run near two years ago, but never went through with it. Seeing as how I was bored Thanksgiving, I took it upon myself to do it.
This X game is one of the most difficult. There are a lot of random factors (Scaravich's stage being one big one) and some tough bosses. This game can be beaten without all 8 bosses much like X5, but it's not as easy as getting a cannon to work. Therefore, I didn't do it and beat the game Capcom wanted me to do it.
You don't start off with Zero in this game. You have to find him first. The way to do that is to go into one of the 8 stages "secondary" areas and get to the end of it. If you already have Zero, you'll fight High Max, which'll let you go to the final stages. He's almost impossible to beat naked and the stages are hard anyway you play them.
Intro Quarry - not much going on here. It basically serves as an intro to X using the Z-Saber. I was a little sloppy, but it only cost me less than a second in the long run. High Max's fighting pattern could be manipulated, but it doesn't always work as seen here.
Nightmare Zero - I picked Sheldon's area for this because its easily accessible. The way to do this is to use the mirrors and lasers to unlock a series of doors. A very tedious task. I picked up the capsule on the way for later. The secondary is no problem at all. Oddly enough, Zero is weak against his own weapon. And using jump slashes prevents him from going "DUUUUUUUU!!!!" and warping away. And yes, I expected to take a beating.
Ground Scaravich - the bane of my existence. As I said before, this place is one giant random factor. There are 8 different rooms you can warp to. The first two I don't care about. The second two are key. The vertical slant room has the Reploid with Speedster and a Heart Tank. I want that. The other room has a capsule part. I want the part, but I don't like the room, as you'll see. I nearly die, but tried to get some health and keep going. Thank god the dung beetle himself is no problem at all.
Commander Yammark - as stated by darkmoogle in Mega Man Network's fiber archives, "There's my bitch." No real problems in this stage. Picked up the E-Tank and the Reploid next to it which contains Life Recover, which is a full E-Tank you can use once per level. And yes, the Z-Buster is that useful.
Rainy Turtloid - a stage with acid rain that constantly hurts you until you shut it down. Eww. A couple of the orbs used to shut it down weren't cooperating, but overall this was just fine. On a related note, you can't use the supposed weakness on Turtloid. The Hyoroga requires you to jump to the ceiling, but it's too high. Gay.
Metal Shark Player - what kind of a name is that? This stage has frustrated many a player to no end. Those blocks that are occasionally in my way are from Scaravich. (I could go over the Nightmare system, but I'll leave that to an FAQ.) I was pretty cautious not to die. Not bad.
Infinity Mijinion - and the award for Most Likely to Make You Rip your Hair Out is....this guy. His stage is no problem. He is. A giant random factor and so many things going on at once. His weakness is a piece of crap too. I settled on this.
Shield Sheldon - shortest. Stage. Ever. Finally X gets more use. Charged Metal Anchor is your friend. The dragonflies fro Yammark fudged me up a little.
Blaze Heatnix - like I said, charged Metal Anchor is your friend. Heatnix is another problem. He's stunned by absolutely everything, so the best option is to hit him with his weakness. With X this isn't that bad (I just missed to many times.) Zero gets gipped.
Blizzard Wolfang - nothing really bad here. The Reploid dog I got has a life up, so I got it.
Dynamo - after all 8 bosses or High max, Dynamo shows up in the secondaries. This isn't completely necessary, but the final capsule was here, so I got it. It was also an opportunity to level up X.
Gate's Lab 1 - X cannot get through this stage without an improved jump and Ice Burst. I chose the Blade Armor because Jumper is really out of the way. I'll let this speak for itself.
Gate's Lab 2 - a two part stage with no break. Kill me now. The actual way to kill High Max is to first stun him with a special weapon, then hit him again. Ensuizan does that job very well. Gate can only be hurt by his own projectiles. Because I take damage to hurt him, it's a matter of who kills who first. Luckily I have some health items. Again, this speaks for itself.
The Boss Repeats - ugh. I redid this part and still can't get it the way I want it. This is okay though. Hyroga is not my friend. I fudged on Sheldon in the beginning. MSP dived into the junk, which he never does. Heatnix was a problem as always. I wanted to limit how many times I heal to two, but I needed it.
Sigma - it's so sad to see this one time monstrosity now become a vegetable. His mind is so out of the park he can't even say Zero's name right. No problems here at all.
Will there be bonus material? Will I make an ass of myself again? Watch and find out.
This will get an improvement, I promise it. A little closer to 30 minutes maybe. I only spent three days on this. Next time, I'll invest more time. Christmas looks like a possibility. Until then, good night, good luck, and good bowling.
