The year 2017 brought considerable disturbance to planet Earth; most of which was caused by naughty human beings. Noel Porter's Holiday Collection reflects this disturbance with its various treatments of traditional Christmas Carols. Listeners are encouraged to approach these recordings with an open mind.

Mixman DM2, Newcomb AVT-20 Phonograph, Midisoft MIDI Composing Tool, Korg R3 Vocoder/Synthesizer, Voice, Various Vinyl Record Albums Modified With A Laundry Iron
1 "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Good King Wenceslas" are dedicated to The Residents.
2 "Silent Night" is dedicated to Conlon Nancarrow.
3 "Above The Sad And Lowly Plain" and "Name That Christmas Tune" are dedicated to John Cage, Pierre Schaeffer, and Christian Marclay.
4 The original version of "Please Come Home For Christmas" was written by Charles Brown and Gene Redd in 1960. It and "Snow Bird Over The Moon" are dedicated to Diamanda Galas, Robert Johnson, and Brian Eno.
In 1983, Charles Goff III produced a collection of collaged tape loop improvisations based on traditional Christmas Carols. This collection, entitled: "Noel Porter's Holiday Collection," was distributed on cassette tapes to a small number of individuals and radio broadcasters. No cover art nor album notes were provided with these tapes. Over the years, this collection has endured as an artifact of the 1980's underground homerecording cassette culture and has been reproduced in various forms.
Goff has released several recordings and other artistic productions related to Christmas and New Years since 1983. Each of these productions exhibits unique qualities which distinguish them as individual works of art. Listeners should keep in mind that any connections between Goff himself and organized religion (specifically Christianity) are academic rather than devotional.
