This is a fine documentary done in the early days of WWII. Spencer Tracy, who was a veteran of WWI, narrated the film in his usual effective manner. The short was done in February, 1942 just after Tracy filmed Woman of the Year and Tortilla Flat.

Made around 1941, this short begins with the spoken words, "I am a soldier" said by Spencer Tracy, Odd, I thought he was in Hollywood making Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde at the time. If you can get past the "I am this, I am that!" speech, the actual speech and visuals are actually quite strong. Made to promote unity in Americans during war. This amazing tribute to the sildier focuses from 1776 to WWII (but oddly glances over WWI, odd) Very stirring and moving, but I think they shouldve picked a more suitable narrator.

Spencer Tracy is an "army of one", as he narrates this Army recruitment film (?) in the first person, representing the American soldier down through the years. It's way over the top, but hey, this was WWII...
