it's not just one industry. its not just one we're seeing board based growth in every sector that's beating the u.s. growth rate. it's not by pure luck over the past 2 1/2 years with we've build and stregd the economic infrastructure of the city. a key part of that economic infrastructure is how the city's engaged in our growth. as part of creating expensive area plans we asked residents labor and community and businesses to come together and envisions the future of the city and our neighborhood. those plans did more than determined where that would occur but examined how existing communities would grow.
area plans laid the great work for new housing for san francisco families and spaces. they identified transportation infrastructure and strapping and open space in order to demonstrate to thrive. the success of those plans can be seen in a number of places coming online and the vibrancy of our san francisco neighborhoods. this morning i'm going to take the opportunity to 34 show you how we're royal our cities vision of carefully planned development. the market and obamacare staff plan took on the change of connecting the neighborhood by the railroad it has a walkable community that met a board range

grand central station of the west thank you making sure maria thank you for your leadership and sharing your progress. i want to recognize this project to our transit center. this will connect san francisco to the downtown expansion and to the rest of the state as high rail is connected. this project is a huge job creator 2 thousand 4 hundred construction jobs will already been created and this project will have created 8 thousand 3 hundred construction jobs and generate over 2 seven hundred thousand jobs. surrounding the trans bay is the
district. more than any other area of the city this downtown area is expanding to provide sacrifice so far businesses inform grow in san francisco. we need this space because 201123.6 mile square feet has been leased that's = have an opportunity of 4 pyramids. of the businesses that are choosing to relocate in our city we've got construction around the area and this incredible building will be the tallest on the west coast. the amen of new office space under the construction is simply unbelievable. one 81 fremont will be the

before i include with the discussion of the cranes for tomorrow i want to pause. first, as you know san francisco in san francisco we don't undertake development for the sake of development we welcome development careful planned sustainable and in the right places because of the benefits it brings to our city and our entire region. we welcome new places to live by insuring we can attract the most people we can grow our economy and create the resources to make that an even reinforce city. we grow our reservoirs for beautiful parked and public health and all the other needs of our residents. of course, development also puts the buildings back to work. policies including local higher

realtor we should look at the developments to come. we've got plans that will reshape downtown with the central corridor plan. this plan seeks to include growth along the subway to this new important transit line. two transformational projects are already fitting so what this vision. the first is 5 m at the fifth and a mission streets it had been a high tech canvas with a focus on arts and it will - the intersections for the arts and tech shop and yahoo. next, of course, is the expansion of moscone center it's the key place for our tourism
economy. the city has taken on this project with creating more space and more thanizing the building it will address much need public safety. did i mention we're keeping moscone in continues operation during the construction. well, the city is engaged in creating a new violation for our waterfront. 3 partnerships are focusing this discussion each looking at to recognize the project. pier 70 this is a 69 acre property in the dog patch neighborhood. it's operated a shipyard since the spanish american war.
we have the preservation of 8 historic buildings. the plan incorporated o incorporates new planning space to encourage the entrepreneurs to become markers. their ref worldwide claim that make sure they have a product worldwide market. the plan provides 15 acres of open space 2 and one half a million open space. and just up 3 street the promise is striking a similar balance providing public amenities including an 8 acre park while phil in the empty lot with

that's there now walls off behind a fence. we're providing a new home for the san francisco fire boats and creating imply infrastructure for taxis and crews ships. i can't wait to welcome the warriors back home to san francisco. each of those plans in our downtown or waterfront builds on the know how of early effort. in san francisco we're growing the right way. we're looking at to build our neighborhood and a economy and with our help we'll continue this track of success. i'll close with those final thoughts mayor is our economy the envy of most cities how can we make other cities part of the
success. it's by each of you in this room to keep invest in our city in businesses and innovative ideas. but also investing in our schools and in our community and in our neighborhoods and most importantly most importantly in our people. in particularly our young people. san francisco is the greater city in the world because we're deprives and innovative but we cannot be successful unless we work together on our critical challenges so i ask you to work with me help save city college. help us rebuild and reanything else our public housing no more poverty housing. help us invest in our schools with better education for our
children and continue to help our young people. for those of you who helped in our summer programs just two days ago we had a goal of 6 thousand not only did we get it done but we created and gave out and established 6 thousand 2 hundred jobs for our kids that's reach. now let me give you fair warning now that we've met our goal public-private partnerships like summer jobs plus is the way that our city succeeds. and in fact, we have a popcorn in the audience who can help us
with the bike sharing program. so i know that supervisor wiener is probably out here in the crowd somewhere and thank you for your leadership in expanding this program but your cities great success would be incomplete if we didn't help folks on the streets. if we work together we can move forward on really progress on homelessness. we'll sustain this economic recovery and extend our prosperity and we'll continue to build the economic and social structure for the city of tomorrow. thank you very much for your time
>> 7 and a half million renovation is part of the clean and safe neighbor's park fund which was on the ballot four years ago and look at how that public investment has transformed our neighborhood. >> the playground is unique in that it serves a number of age groups, unlike many of the other properties, it serves small children with the children's play grounds and clubhouses that has basketball courts, it has an outdoor soccer field and so there were a lot of people that came to the table that had their wish list and we did our best to make sure that we kind of divided up spaces and made sure that we kept the old features of the playground but we were able to enhance all of those features.
>> the playground and the soccer field and the tennis fields and it is such a key part of this neighborhood. >> we want kids to be here. we want families to be here and we want people to have athletic opportunities. >> we are given a real responsibility to insure that the public's money is used appropriately and that something really special comes of these projects. we generally have about an opportunity every 50 years to redo these spaces. and it is really, really rewarding to see children and families benefit, you know, from the change of culture, at each one of these properties >> and as a result of, what you see behind us, more kids are playing on our soccer fields than ever before. we have more girls playing sports than we have ever had
