Here's a review I read on the
discogs.com
FROM dsyn2spin
I scooped this one up at the flea market a while back, mainly on the strength of the awesome
artwork on the sleeve which is very much in the style that was popular in the era when this
was made. (circa '69, '70) So basically heavily influenced by underground hippy comics
the likes of which R. Crumb is the inventor of. So I had this for a while before I dared to
actually throw it on the deck, to see what it was like. I knew it was some kind of political
satire / news parody type of thing, but I really was't expecting the sort of high caliber
avantgarde sound montage that lies within the grooves of this disc. The level of
audio wizardry that is achieved in this production is stunning, and way ahead of
the curve for 1970.. For the sake of comparison, I'll cite the recorded version of
"The Medium Is The Message" by Marshal McLuhan, but with treatments
by Negativeland, and with Gershon Kingsley on the Moog to round things
out.. I highly recommend grabbing this LP if any of what I have said
sounds interesting to you. But do it soon, because once the word gets out
how cool this record is, the price is going to go way up as it is quite rare.
