Newark Deputy Police Director Frank Padilla (right) takes the oath of office from Newark Deputy City Clerk Claude Wallace (left), in the City Hall Rotunda on July 6, 2004. Padilla became the first Latino Deputy Police Director in Newark's history. Holding the Bible is Padilla's fiance, Brunhilda Lorenzo. Behind her are two of his sons, Frank Jr. (an accountant) and Ivan (a business manager). Padilla's third son, Wes, is a U.S. Army Major, serving in the Pentagon.
