This is the first of three excerpts that I am posting from a multi-network 90 minute special performed for Greek War Relief on February 8, 1941. This one is a tour-de-force performance by Connie Boswell of Sunrise Serenade, published in 1939. The composer was band leader Frankie Carle. The lyricist was Jack Lawrence. The duration is (rounded off) 4 minutes, 16 seconds. . I transferred the material from a complete set of superbly mastered and pressed 16 inch vinyl pressings circa 1969. Some portions were seriously scratched, but none of the 6 sides had overall wear. I digitized the complete file circa 2000. I applied considerable time redrawing the loud zaps & thuds. Tools used were Sound Forge and Audition. This is NOT an aircheck, it was recorded off the line. The noise is meaningfully reduced but still audible. This is because I insist upon preventing undesirable digital side effects, which are caused by over-aggressive use of various tools, or poorly designed tools. Unfortunately this problem pervades many "audio restorations".
