Poor Vivian Vance! To be forever stuck as the 2nd banana to a talent-free hack like Lucille Ball. Lucy did more to perpetuate the myth that women are stupid, nosy, gossipy scatter-brained idiots than any other person on earth. If anyone wants to argue that "Lucy" was talented, please watch the truly hideous version of 'Mame' that she 'starred' in before you say a word. How Lucy managed to stay on the air for so long, in so many different versions is a wonder of the ages. Its so unfortunate that for one to enjoy a Vivian Vance perfomance one must sit through drek such as this. And, this episode is one of the wosrt of a string of tripe that I have ever had the misfortune to sit through. No doubt Lucy bullied CBS into allowing her production company to air garbage such as this for years. I guess if one has enough money and one's own studio, one can have anything--no matter how embarassing it is. Poor Viv, we love YOU, not Lucy!

One word: "MTV"
This is a fairly lousy episode of the show, but compared to what is on MTV lately, it's "Citizen Kane".
EDIT: Oh crap, I forgot I had already reviewed the item twice. Oh shit.

How Lucy ever kept a job with shows as bad as this is a mystery. There are some bad shows on TV today but nothing that's really worse then this.

Subject: The "bombing" of Laugh-In
Subject: The "bombing" of Laugh-In
Laugh-In ( the DVD sales and the syndicated reruns ) boobed because they were so dated. Kinda no brainer to think that a 30 year old of 2009 watching Dan Rowan from 1969 saying "..news of the future..20 years from now 1989.." to consider that NOT to be funny. Well between the dated humor and the bashing of Laugh-In's Dan Rowan in Peter "Hollywood Squares" Marshall's bio that was published some years back. Peter Marshall who otherwise seems to be a nice man had more/less called Rowan an "SOB" , those two factors will killed Laugh-In in recent years.
Always good to see Viv & Lucy again. I wonder if the very last show they did together in 1977 ( Lucy Calls The President ) is in public domain?
That show hasn't been seen in YEARS !!

A lot of these episodes have weak endings, as if the writers just handed in the scripts at five no matter what. Thankfully, this isn't one of them. Good fun, and a good ending. And you gotta love Mr. Mooney's "surprise" when he sees Viv.

"Laugh-In" was as entertaining being raped by a saiyan. This, on the other hand, is high quality 60's TV featuring the Queen of comedy...Lucille Ball! Ok, maybe it isn't "High Quality", but it sure beats the trash on CBS today!

Subject: A Rebuttal to "Laugh-In"?
Subject: A Rebuttal to "Laugh-In"?
Actaully, "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" deputed several months after this episode aired, But this episode of "The Lucy Show" gleefully mocks the hippy generation and it's hypocrisy. Even my liberal parents admit that hippies were hypocritical idiots. Plus it's not a half-bad episode, although revisionist historians will hate it.
Originally aired 9 January 1967 on the CBS Television Network.
BTW, "The Lucy Show" remains a popular TV series, With DVDs of it sold at all major DVD shops. "Laugh-In" is completely forgotten and the DVD release bombed.
And yes, It's public domain.
