There are experiences that come into our lives that are not fun, enjoyable or desired. These experiences can be painful and hurtful, and hard to understand. Life is full of the unexpected. Often we do not know how to deal with these unexpected, hurtful experiences. Disappointments come to the just, and the unjust alike. Jesus tells us that life will not be free of tribulation. It seems as if these tribulations will always come at the worst possible time. That is the Devilâs way.
In our text, Paul has survived a shipwreck and washed up on the island of Melita. While trying to help build a fire, he is attacked by a serpent. He knew what to do. He took the serpent where we all should take the serpents in our life: the fire.
