After saving himself from hanging, Laramie Nelson (Buster Crabbe) saves Tracks Williams (Raymond Hatton) from the same fate. They then travel to Lindsay's ranch where they get jobs. There they run into Adams (Grant Withers) who they learn is planning to rustle Lindsay's horses.

Crabbe & Hatton - Save the Herd, Crabbe Gets the Girl
A good western with an assertive Buster Crabbe and a crafty Raymond Hatton - better acting as they are given stronger, more interesting characters. Marsha Hunt is the beauty whose horse ranch Crabbe saves and whose love he gains. IMDb says between 1935-2008 she appeared in 115 films/TV shows - unfortunately her career was held up by McCarthy era black-listing. Betty Jane Rhodes played Hunt's younger sister. She had been a vocalist since her childhood and continued singing after her brief film career - in this film she offers a nice rendition of "Come To Me My Melancholy Baby." IMDb says between 1936-44 she appeared in 22 films. Johnny Downs, an acquired taste as far as I'm concerned, plays the wimpy boyfriend of Rhodes, for comedy relief. Grant Withers has a nice turn as a deceitful lawyer. Lots of action and some romance in this fast-paced film - and both couples get married at the end.

Great old western
Buster Crabbe and Raymond Hatton have one of their best acting roles. Very well done.
