Subject: Needs An Alternate Ending...My Student Wrote One!

This book is always a hit with my ELA8 students. Each year, we read this book at the end of the year before presenting our Utopia projects and watching The Giver movie together.

A student, Lujane, wrote and recorded this alternate ending, which seems to nicely wrap up every possible ending in a nice, pretty bow!

She recorded her reading of Chapter 24. The text is included in the comment section.

I enjoyed the book, but when it ended I was left with a great sense of longing and millions of questions, Where did they go? Did they starve? Did they find civilization? Did the communities all learn from their mistakes? Are Jonas and Gabriel happy?
