One of the best
of the 1950s, with an above-average cast and shot in color much like another good one from the era, "Forbidden Planet." The effects are state-of-the-art for 1953. The cast includes Gene Barry as Dr. Clayton Forrester (if that name rings a bell: think MST3K lead mad), Anne Robinson, Les Tremayne, the great Paul Frees as radio reporter/Introduction narrator, Sir Cedric Hardwicke as narrator, and more. Won the Academy Award for Best Effects (George Pal), and in 2011 was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress.
