federal prosecutors say burfoot received almost half-a-million dollars in cash, meals, travel and other gifts, in exchange for votes in the city. rico bush is live at the norfolk federal courthouse this morning with more on the man at the center of the federal court case. second appearence in court today - he is facing eight felony counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and perjury charges. according to a 30-page indictment released two weeks ago, federal prosecutors alledge the norfolk city treasurer was part of a scheme to defraud the city. it says dating back to 2-thousand-5, burfoot used his political office for personal gain when he on city council, while also helping private companies at the same time. prosecutors say he promised city votes in exchange for gifts and cash from private companies, including now-defunct tivest development and construction.

happening today - a norfolk city leader accused of using his political office for personal gain is scheduled to head back to court. norfolk city treasurer and former vice-mayor anthony burfoot has a scheduled arraignment on several felony charges in a federal courtroom this afternoon. earlier this month, a grand jury indicted burfoot on public corruption and perjury charges, alleging he used his office to solicit favors and gifts. rico bush has been following this story since it broke. he's live at the norfolk federal courthouse this morning with more on what's ahead for burfoot. rico - don, katie, sources tell us burfoot is expected to plead not guilty to the felony charges in court

the future of a local smokehouse is uncertain this morning after a fire destoyed the building. only chopper 10 was above the scene in surry county. firefighters used water from hydrants and a nearby creek to control the fire at the edwards virginia smokehouse. most of the employees out to lunch when the fire broke out. no one got hurt, but the fire is a tough loss for the workers. janda mueller edwards smokehouse employee (32) 46:42 i don't know what the future holds right now. from the looks of it, it's not looking good. :52 edwards ham says it will be closed until further notice. investigators are still

what caused the fire. a day after rescuing a driver from truck, actor jamie foxx said he did not consider himself to be a hero. the california highway patrol says foxx and another person helped free the driver after the driver rolled his truck into a ditch outside the actor's home outside l-a on monday. troopers say the 32-year-old driver was drunk and speeding. kyle's father met the actor yesterday to thank foxx for saving his heroic. i just look at like you just had to do something. it all just
