we're trying to learn more about an accident in hampton. police say two cars were involved in this crash on east mercury boulevard near fox hill road around 9:45 last night. we first told you about this as breaking news at 11. police say three people went to the hospital, and one of them had life threatening injuries. we are working to find out what caused the crash and if anyone will be charged. as soon as we get that information, we will bring it to you on air, and on wavy dot com now to a bizarre water rescue in hampton. a man ran from police ....only to have rescue crews pick him up in a river. this happened saturday morning. police say a blue nissan going far above the speed limit crashed, when police approached the driver he ran, eventually jumping into the hampton creek. it took firefighters around 20 minutes to get to him. as you can see a fire fighter had to jump in to bring the suspect in. a wtiness says the cold water seemed to keep the

and the water was just gushing out of the roads and there was a flood." traffic is back open in both areas. the city says paving crews will fix the affected stretch of tidewater drive today. we're following developing news from the western part of virginia. a 24-year-old man is in jail because staunton police say he killed his 6-year-old son. this is steven decker. police started to investigate after the 6-year-old died on wednesday. decker is facing several charges including 2nd degree murder and felony child neglec. decker's 19-year-old girlfriend, brianna connolly is also in jail. she faces a felony child neglect and drug charge, republicans got one last chance to discuss the issues. the final debate going into the new hampshire primary was last night. abc news hosted the debate. donald trump made his way back to the stage. he had skipped the previous debate before the iowa caucus.

that's because a panel of federal judges says two congressional districts need to be changed - this includes the 1st congressional district that covers parts of elizabeth city. judges say the two districts need to be changed because of the race of people living in those areas. lawmakers have two weeks to change the lines. north carolina voters go to the polls march 15. republican congressman randy forbes from chesapeake is still considering whether he will jump districts and run in the second congressional district in virginia beach. on monday morning forbes is holding a meeting on national defense, and the military's economic impact in hampton roads. defense contractor ben loyola who ran unsuccessfully for congress and state senate has sent a mass invite to come and meet forbes. loyola has been actively involved in republican politics. it appears this gathering is another opportunity for congressman forbes to meet republicans from the second congressional district. a scary case of road rage caught on camera. wait until you hear why a
rescuers are in a race against time in taiwan. from friday's earthquake is still going on. people are still trapped in the rubble from collapsed buildings. there were some dramatic rescues in the city of tainan, including several involving small children. officials say 18 people are dead and 132 more are still in a destroyed apartment building. more than 500 people are injured. crews in new york city are working to clear the crane collapse. we first told you about this friday. one person died and several others were hurt after the crane came crashing down to the street below.
a few weeks before they know what exactly caused the crane to come down. workers are combing through the debris to find the crane's computer. they are hoping that will provide more answers as to what went wrong. young women accused of scamming the elderly. the unusual way residents of a nursing home say they did it. and -- another city is dealing with toxic water and officials say it is making people very sick. what politicians say needs to be done. again! again! again! again! again? again! again!
orlando redd in a bar. after he got away, he went to his mini van. you can see, he then crashed the van into several vehicles before backing up along the sidewalk where he ran over a woman. officials say the woman was seriously hurt, but she should survive. police caught redd a few blocks from the scene. the witness who recorded what happened didn't want to be identified, but said what he saw was terrifying. s/witness :06 "and then he hit the building, like, directly dept. :19 "it appears that the victim has unfortunate that she had to suffer that simply walking out of a bar assault." redd is facing several traffic charges. but the police department is working with the state attorney's criminal charges against
the president of a fraternity at an ivy league school is in jail. he is accused of sexual assault. wolfgang ballinger is facing several charges, including attempted rape. the 21-year-old is the preisdent of the psi upsilon chapter at cornell university. ballinger's lawyer entered a not guilty plea. ballinger is being held in jail on a 50- thousand dollar bond. he is scheduled to appear in court on tuesday. the governor of new york says the public is not at risk after radioactive water spilled into a well from a nuclear power plant. officials at a facility north of manhattan says tainted water got into the groundwater under the plant. they say the contamination is contained to the site and wold not affect the hudson river. that is a water source for 15 million people. it is not clear how much toxic water spilled, but officials continue to stress the water is safe to drink there. we have been telling you about the water crisis in flint for weeks. but, other parts of the country are dealing with problems in their water too. the water in a subdivision in houston is being blamed for giving residents cancer.

pretending to be students at a nearby high school. they ask elderly residents for a donation. one of the residents saw what was going on, and reported what was happening to security. the girls have allegedly done this at five other nursing homes around the houston area. at other homes, they pretend to be grandchildren of the residents to get in the doors. the scam is prompting nursing homes all over houston to change their secuirty policies. a terror plot stopped. what the f-b-i says a man in michigan was planning to do to a in suffolk, a family is searching for answers. andy fox

and what charges he'll face. police would only say its an open investigation federal agents in michigan have arrested a man they say planned an isis style attack. the f-b-i says 21-year-old khalil abu- rayvan told an undercover agent he quote "tried to shoot up a church one day." abu-rayvan told the agent that he was targeting one of the biggest churches in detroit. he claims he had an ak-47 and practiced reloading and unloading. an affidavit says abu-rayvan's father found the gun, bullets, and mask in his car. neighbors are stunned. mos 1 says: (is that a bit unnerving?) "yea, very much so." mos 2 says: "our koran says if somebody kills one person, it's like he killed all the humans." mos 2 says: "so if somebody says he wants to kill people just to kill
with his brain." abu-rayvan will be in court monday for a detention hearing. he is also facing weapons and drug charges not related to the f-b-i-'s case. a police officer in ohio is in the hospital after a suspect shot him. two bullets hit skyler newfer last night. it all started when police got a call about a man standing outside a home with a gun. when officers got there, they saw stephen davis holding a rifle. davis allegedly fired his gun and then got into his car and drove away. at one point during the chase, davis got out of his car and started shooting at the officers again. that's when officer newfer was hit. police say there were even more gunshots as the chase went on. it eventually ended when davis crashed into a ditch. he was found dead in the car. police are trying to figure out if he killed himself or if one of the officers shot him. the officer should recover from his injuries. a suffolk family called 10 on your side because they have unanswered questions about the shooting death of their son. they're pointing
