county council for 16 years. so has his opponent, joe bartenfelder. he appeared last night in woodlawn to talk to voters to there. he is endorsed by county police and fire unions. kamenetz has an endorsement from "the baltimore sun." >> i think i have the right combination of experience and vision to move the county forward. >> keeping our neighborhood safe and having an efficient government that delivers a basic services. >> i do not think you need to be a lawyer to be a ceo. we have been successful. i have been in the legislature before this, nine years on the appropriations committee. >> the winner will face kenneth

with an oncoming train. we saw these pictures as breaking news around 5:30 yesterday. this happened at north point boulevard. a small amount of fuel was released but it was later contain. nobody was injured in this accident. in underwater mystery is playing out. a car was pulled out near lansdowne high school. it is not clear how long the car had been in the pond or if anyone was inside when it went into the water. >> congress is back in session. republicans beganort publica sparring about the economy. >> the gop wants to extend the bush-era tax cuts for everybody. democrats say america cannot
afford it and are offering up a plan of their own. president obama trying to extent tax cuts to all but america's top earners, in gauging in the wrestling match with republicans. >> we cannot give away $700 billion to folks who do not needed and think we will balance the budget. >> republicans say this plan would stifle job creation. >> now they want to drive another nail in the coffin, a massive tax hike, by expanding their businesses and creating jobs. >> democrats say they can get businesses to start hiring. the measure is designed to spark growth and capital. >> small businesses are holding off on hiring and they will be waiting for us to act.

there is no precipitation in the cloud deck. the nearest rain is in new england. this may give a some rain by the end of the week, late thursday and into friday morning. we have this cold front that will come through this afternoon. you will hardly notice it. we do not expect any rain as this front comes through. let me give a quick update on the tropics. this is hurricane igor with sustained winds of 135 miles per hour. it is a category four hurricane. it looks like the storm is very well organized. lookout compact the swirl is -- look how compact the swirl is. most of the computer models keep it off shore. it will be close that we need to watch it going into the weekend. a mixed of clouds and sunshine.
high temperatures will be in the upper 70's and low 80's. overnight, mostly clear and turning cooler. temperatures will drop back into the 50's. seven-day forecast looks like this. a nice day on wednesday. clouds will thicken up on thursday. a chance for rain late thursday and into friday morning. it looks like a decent weekend with high temperatures around 80 degrees. that is the seven-day forecast. >> not a whole lot happening at all, which is good news. let's check some of our speed sensors. we see some of volume-related delays falling into place. traveling on southbound 95, 49 miles per hour. still looking good on the north side around delay any valid. the jfx is in great shape.
the harrisburg expressway checking in at 56 miles per hour at shawan road. here's a quick live look outside at 29. north and southbound through howard county look great. we switch over to 95. this is southbound traffic. a nice ride in that area. we should see some delays there is surely. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. >> new video shows the moment it california suburb winds up in a massive fireball. the images were taken from a gas station security camera about 500 yards from the explosion. the california utility that operates the gas line is establishing a $100 million fund for victims affected by the blast. four people were killed.
four others are still missing. the blowout preventer has been taken to a nasa facility in new orleans. it will be analyzed to determine why it failed. the explosion killed 11 workers. after months of delay, the senate appears to vote on "don't ask, don't tell -- this is not the right video. the funding bill is scheduled for a vote on monday. it has led to the exclusion of several service members. republicans have threatened to filibuster that bill. >> there are some new developments in the life insurance scandal. hotels are giving up freebies this fall. jane king has more in the

gregg bernstein at the polls today. the baptist ministers are backing jessamy. bernstein picked up the endorsement of a well-known attorney and former judge. both spent part of the last day before the primary campaigning. both picked up endorsements. billy murphy publicly declared his support for bernstein. >> considering the platforms of both candidates, i think gregg's platform is superior to hers. she has had a failed tenure as state's attorney. >> religious leaders announced they are backing patricia jessamy. >> she understands we cannot arrest and convict our way out of our current predicament. this persistent violence that has plagued every neighborhood.

devastating experience. monica foreman robinson was in the car with ken harris when he was shot and killed. she could not identify the suitor, saying he was wearing a white halloween mask. >> no one can identify these three individuals. this is a high-profile case. my suspicion is the police department had to make a quick arrest to calm the fears of the community. >> charles mcganey, garry collins, and jerome williams are charged with harris' murder. prosecutors told the jury new witness was going to say i saw who did the shooting. they are relying on dna evidence. they believe williams shot harris. robinson said she met harris
five months before the shooting and that they were good friends. she remained in the car while harris went into the lounge. she could see motion inside the door and she saw harris walking fast towards the car. she said someone with a mask on and a gun was screaming at harris. she did not hear a shot. "i do not remember hearing a sound. i was terrified. i was screaming and yelling and telling can get to drive." she said he was silent the whole time. the car crash. the defense tried to show her testimony was different from her statement to police. >> she gave a statement the night of the murder. her testimony seems to be at odds with what she said. that will be brought under cross
examination. >> gary sims, wbal-tv 11 news. >> police are expanded their search for an escaped inmate. police are looking for paul palmer and his pregnant girlfriend. palmer was being held on an attempted murder charge may be in a kia spectra with maryland tags. suspect or either sp the car, you are asked to call 911. >> intruders pulled out an air conditioning unit from a winds up to forced their way into a church in manchester. anyone with information is asked to call the carroll county police office. >> someone fired several shots at a home in catonsville. witnesses say someone inside a
car started shooting randomly throughout the neighborhood. four bullet holes were found inside the home. nobody was hurt fortunately. >> now traffic pulse 11 and insta-weather plus together. >> good morning. sarah caldwell checking on your morning commute. there are several new problems. northbound 95, some heavy delays are formed because of an accident just pass the beltway. those delays cropping up quickly. in rice attack, watch for a new accident at dover and boggler road. we still have some closures in effect in woodbine because of a downed pole and wires. use extra caution there. 22 miles per hour through the stretch approaching 795 down towards liberty. southbound 95, a bit slow spot approaching the beltway
northeast. delays are building in the outer loop at old court. northbound 95 almost at a standstill because the two lanes being closed on the southwest side, an accident being cleared there. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. sandra shaw is talking about a race on sunday. >> what makes this unique is it is a run for the fort mchenry tunnel. it is like up and down. it is a challenging race. the cause is the special olympics of maryland. i'm joined by a chief of the maryland transportation authority. tell us what this event is so unique. >> it will have over 1000 runners. there is no chance anyone gets to run through a tunnel. it is unique.
