unfolded at about 4-30 tuesday afternoon in this part of north weldon place.police were called for what they say was a family dispute... while inside one officer called for help... and another officer fired... after seeing a knife near the suspect. (guglielmi) "the officer who was being attacked did summons the other officer to assist him. that other officer fired at least one round to the suspect and he died as a result of those injuries."(ms. littles/neighbor) "i'm sure they could have handled it differently. they could have shot him somewhere else. he only had a knife, not a gun. it could have been a different " result."the suspect was killed. the officers were not hurt. anthony barksdale wakes up as the new baltimore city police commissioner, this morning. morning.fred bealefeld was officially retired as of midnight.the mayor has appointed barksdale as the city's acting top cop. a national search began earlier this summer for a permanent replacement. a tech savvy farm wants to turn it's harvest into a smartphone app. app. joel d. smith is live

3 children and chalk drawings are often a regular summer sight.but for one mother in virginia... her daughter's creativity means a court conviction and sentence. sentence.susan mortensen has to complete áfiftyá hours of community service for letting her 4-year-old daughter use chalk to draw on rocks at belle isle park in richmond virginia.youtube video shows the incident back in march when officer stacy rogers gave mortensen a 3-hundred and 25- dollar ticket for the chalk drawings.here's what officer rogers said at the time. "the next time i catch you, i'm just going to kick you of out the parks, and you can't come back to any city park. so you don't want that, ok." ok."mortensen is now banned from all city parks... at least until her community

starting today... all new health insurance plans must provide eight preventive health benefits to women for free.as mary ellen hopkins explains... for women already in plans with copays or deductibles for those services... they will also be free, starting at their plan's next renewal date. date. the department of health and human services estimates 47 million women are in health plans that must offer the new benefits.it's a requirement of the health care reform law congress passed in 2010. the supreme court upheld most of the law in june.the secretary of health celebrated wednesday's milestone a day early.we're here to mark a new day for women's health in america. starting tomorrow, thanks to the new health care law, all insurance policies will be required to cover new vital care that women need to

"tag-reader" cameras, which are usually mounted on patrol cars, scan every license plate on passing or parked vehicles and run the numbers through police data bases. baltimore county police call the "tag-readers" a very useful law enforcement tool that can, among other things, help find stolen cars. but the a-c-l-u says the data gathered is stored indefinitely.. .and could potentially be an invasion of privacy. (rocah/aclu) "and the biggest problem here is that there has been no public discussion about this technology, no public discussion about its use in this way to compile vast data bases about our movem" movements." according to the a-c-l-u, the state has

3 children and chalk drawings are often a regular summer sight.but for one mother in virginia... her daughter's creativity means a court conviction and sentence. sentence.susan mortensen has to complete áfiftyá hours of community service for letting her 4-year-old daughter use chalk to draw on rocks at belle isle park in richmond virginia.youtube video shows the incident back in march
