was driving. this is surveillance video of the parade moments before the accident on july 4th this year. the anne arundel county state's attorney's office says it has closed the case after annapolis police found the man coudln't have known what was happening. the float accidentally hit and killed 7 year old kyle aldridge of baltimore. the government is still shut down this morning... but today house republicans are scheduled to vote on a measure that would give furloughed federal workers back pay once they return to work. meanwhile... lawmakers are also turning their attention to another looming deadline. with the debt ceiling just a couple weeks away... house speaker john boehner told republicans that he will not allow a default to happen... even if it means relying on votes from democrats. on thursday.. president obama said that defaulting on our loans would be much worse for the economy than a government shutdown... pressuring boehner to fund the government and drop obamacare

concessions. call a vote on t he floor and let members of congress make up their own minds they can show the american people are you for a shutdown or not? lawmakers have yet to reach a deal and many government services remain closed and unfunded this morning. a cheerleader with down syndrome is back on the sidelines... after what her school calls a "miscommunicatio n" that put her on the bench. cheering nats 16-year-old brittany davila is all smiles now that she's back with her team. the honorary cheerleader was sidelined after school leaders called her a "liability." now they say it was a misunderstandin g and met with brittany's mom to work out an arrangement that includes brittany cheering again. she was a little nervous when we were walking up here but now that she's down there. you can see her she's in her groove i guess.

brittany knows many of the cheers but does not participate in stunts. there is now a designated area for brittany while the other cheerleaders perform stunts, and if she needs a break. a widower shows how much he still loves his wife on what would have been their 50th anniversary. throughout their life together, joe was always big on surprising his wife marylou. she died just five months shy of their golden anniversary. joe had already bought the billboard a year earlier... and while he could have canceled it... he decided not to... even let her in on the secret about it just before the end. about a week before she died i told her what i was going to do and all she did was look at me and tell me i'm nuts. but she was worth it. i wanted her to have some sort of recognition. joe says he just wanted everyone to know he will love his wife forever.

incredible video of a police cruiser as it crashes. two officers were injured ... one had to be airlifted to the hospital. no officers were injured in the shooting that killed the suspect. we are also learning this morning that the officers involved in yesterday's chase were working without pay... because of the government shutdown. carey was from connecticut... and her mother says she has no idea why her daughter was in d-c. police swarmed carey's connecticut home after the incident... shocking neighbors who had no idea what was going on hundreds of miles away.. he said that it's a sensitive area, i have to run in, i have about 5-10 minutes to get all my stuff and get out for the next eight or so hours, white house mandate we have to evacuate the premises. carey's mother says her daughter was suffering from post-partum depression. the woman had her one-year-old daughter in the car with her. two firefighters are injured in a 3- alarm fire in cecil county. it happened at a

shopping center in north east. luckily there were only minor injureis. damage is estimated at 10 million dollars. the debate over the name of the washington redskins heats up. an indian tribe from new york says it will hold a public meeting about the issue on monday. the event is scheduled for the same day and the same hotel outside d-c where n-f-l owners start arriving for their annual fall meeting. the tribe is pushing for the skins to change their name. a girl is in trouble... for wearing a national rifle association t- shirt to school. haley bullwinkle was sent to the principal's office for violating the school's dress code which bans anything that is "divisive" or promotes violence. the high school sophomore says she was forced to ditch the shirt... which had a silhouette of a hunter on it... or face disciplinary action. i was not allowed to wear it because it promoted gun violence they were treating me like i was a criminal

and here's a hint... it's not just the elderly anymore. i'm megan gilliland, fox45 morning news. new information.. this morning.. about the woman police killed after leading them on a high-speed chase putting the capitol on lockdown. 34-year-old miriam carey's mother says she was suffering from post- partum depression. the woman had her one-year-old daughter in the car with her. carey's mother says she was depressed... and had no history of violence. carey was from stamford, connecticut... and her mom says she has no idea why her daughter was in d-c. her chase with police started at a barricade near the white house at about 2:20 yesterday afternoon. the black car is carey's nissan infiniti. you can see it stopped at the barricades near the white house. police thought they had her cornered... but she soon rams into one cruiser, then backs up and takes off down the street. the chase came to an end at constitution street and

second avenue just outside the hart senate office building. police shot the woman as she was getting out of her car. so the question now is... why? (nats) law enforcement continue to try and piece together what sparked carey to take off on busy d-c streets. this video shows some of the chaos during the incident. officials haven't been able to answer many questions yet about the suspect or her motives. officers arrived at her relative's home in brooklyn, new york,trying to gather information. "it's out of the ordinary, so of course they're shocked. it's a family member, as well, as how this whole thing occurred because no one knows exact circumstances of how this really occurred." as we mentioned before, carey did have her child with her.. but the child wasn't hurt. you're waking up to day four of the shutdown

adobe. hackers broke into the software giant's computer system, gaining access to personal information from 2-point-9- million customers. they also got copies of the source code of some adobe products. much of the stolen data was encrypted, but adobe reset customer passwords as a precaution. texas state senator wendy davis is running for governor of her state. the democratic candidate is best known for her filibuster in which she attempted to block legislation aimed toward restricting abortion-based freedoms. current governor rick perry has already announced he's not seeking another term in office. that means the republican davis is most likely to run against is greg abbott, texas' attorney general. twitter reveals its billion dollar i-p-o but the financial statement shows the social media network lost 79-million- dollars on almost 317- million in sales in 2012. the company is

exchange for food stamps. as laren zakalik explains.. that's an offer an artist posted on facebook that caught the eye of would-be patrons, and the law. --reporter pkg- as follows-- the whole thing started with a tip from a keen koat viewer. who saw this posted on facebook... by a los lunas tattoo artist. "who's getting tatted?" it says... "i'm open right now .... i'll be tattooing for grub stubs tomorrow only!

hit me up if interested." grub stubs are food stamps that we pay for and that trade... it's very illegal by the time we looked on facebook, the offer had been taken down-- but the buzz.... ...was just setting in. we just couldn't believe he was actually doing that. we went down to the los lunas tattoo parlor he lists on facebook as his employer to try and find him. we're not revealing his identity, because he hasn't been charged. he hasn't worked here in over a month but this woman who owns the parlor with her husband says... she heard about this tuesday night... and was horrified. a couple of people have come and said they've gone on our web site and they see he's posting that he's working here, and that he is tattooing for food stamps. that is not true, we are a professional business here and we do not do that at all. now even though the facebook post has since been taken down, just the offer itself is enough for the human services department to be concerned. legally, they say, food stamps are only be used for their

intended purposes-- tattoos are not one of them. we definitely look down upon people trading their ebt cards for anything other than food. and spokesman matt kennicott says the state will be investigating this case and any others like it. as for the tattoo artist himself... did you know when you made that offer on facebook that it was illegal to do something like that? yes i did. he called us late wednesday afternoon .... and said he did it, because times have been tough for him. i know it was wrong and i know it was a long shot, but like i said, i was just trying to put food on my table for my child i'm not trying to break any laws, that's why i didn't trade any work for it and i took the posting down. he says he's sorry... for trying to trade tattoos for taxpayer funded food stamps... but sorry, might not be enough for the state. state officials say they are considering changing its food stamp program.... so that the recipient's picture is on the actual e-b-t card... so they can't sell it, or give it to other people.

officers involved in yesterday's chase were working without pay... because of the government shutdown. we now know the names of the victims in the double shooting in middle river wednesday night. they are 66 year old charley jewell... and his son... brandon jewell the shooting happened just before five o'clock on southorn road near... grovethorn road. police say when officers arrived, they found the two men on the first floor of the home.. with several gunshot wounds. (mr. street/victim's best friend) "he's paralyzed but he's out here when the kids are out here playing. he's out here with the kids throwing balls with them. ice cream man comes by, he's got money, he buys the kids ice cream. he don't deserve what people did to him...i mean he's a good person." (vinson/pio) "we don't believe that this was a random crime. we think that the victims were targeted. we're going to continue to talk to family, talk to neighbors to try to determine exactly what happened in this crime." witnesses say the suspects sped away in a car. police are still looking for them police believe the victims were

state health officials say the child was briefly hospitalized and is now recovering. but the strand is obviously out there and health officials say it can be dangerous for everyone... young and old alike. her one-year-old daughter in the car with her. carey's mother says she was depressed... and had no history of violence. carey was from stamford, connecticut... and her mom says she has no idea why her daughter was in d-c. her chase with police started at a barricade near the white house at about 2:20 yesterday afternoon. the black car scene here is carey's nissan infiniti. you can see police stopped her at the barricades near the white house. police thought they had her cornered... but she soon rammed into one cruiser, then backed up and took off down pennsylvania avenue. the chase came to an end at constitution street and second avenue just outside the hart senate office building. police shot and killed the woman as she was getting out of her car. "nats police siren and then crash" that police officer was racing to the scene of the police chase and deadly shooting when he ended

up in a wreck himself. the officer slammed into a barricade and spun out. other nearby police raced to help him. he was one of two federal officers injured in yesterday's incident. both are said to be in good condition. today we also learned both were working yesterday without pay because of the government shutdown. speaking of that shutdown... we're in the fourth day... and there may be some first signs that house speaker john boehner is back down from the standoff with the president. boehner says he won't allow a default when the debt ceiling vote hits in fewer than two weeks... even if that means relying on votes from democrats. president obama is putting the pressure on boehner to fund the government and drop concessions about obamacare. "call a vote, put it on the floor and let every individual member of congress make up their own minds, and they can show the american people are you for a shutdown or not."

lawmakers could vote on legislation today that would authorize back pay for the 800-thousand government workers on furlough. the shutdown has expanded all the way across the pond. 24 overseas cemeteries and memorials... including this one in normand france... are shuttered due to the shutdown. any installations the american battle monuments commission are in charge of are closed as well. united airlines makes a generous offer on twitter... to the air force and naval academy for their rival game. the airlines is offering to fly them for free. we now know the game will go on because non- budgeted funds are being used, but there's no word from united on whether the offer still stands. though the game was sold out, the two sides had to wait for the defense department's greenlight. a weekend event that's perfect for couples... where you can find a craft show with a car twist... next in our hometown hotspot. you're watching fox 45 morning news.. all local..
