should be zero tolerance for hazing at c.b. west. lu ann cahn live tonight at c.b. west high school in doylestown. >> lu ann, the district superintendent is expected to talk more about the allegations at tonight's meeting, right? >> reporter: -- do not want to talk to us about the hazing scandal but the bucks county district attorney does want to talk about it. he is asking any parent who feels that their child might be a victim of hazing to step forward now. he is concerned that maybe they only know about a certain amount of what happened. he just wants to be sure. right now he doesn't believe there was any criminal activity but they're investigating, they're looking at it and they want to be sure that they have talked to all the parents, all children involved. he's inviting them to call the district attorney's office. >> i want to make sure that

we're not missing any conduct that would be worthy of criminal prosecution. >> reporter: the bucks county district attorney says even the most disturbing of the hazing incidents on the central bucks west football team don't rise to the level of a crime. the superintendent canceled the rest of the team's season after learning seniors forced rookie players to touch the private parts of others while clothed and there was a shower incident. >> for instance, the so-called waterboarding involved children having towels or wash cloths put over their faces and then being taken under the shower. if you do that long enough, if you hold the kid's head right under the shower and they start aspirating water, that could be very serious. doesn't appear from the investigation that has been done so far, that that degree of conduct occurred. >> reporter: but if parents believe their child's physical health or safety was involved or there was inappropriate mental stress or embarrassment, the

district attorney wants it to be reported. meanwhile, in cheltenham township today, school officials released a statement saying they investigated a hazing incident on september 23rd involving the boys soccer team. the investigation revealed a practice of players using a hazing technique known as ripping. which is forceful pulling and tearing of the victim's underwear to the point where it rips and allows the victim to be dangled by their underwear. there are certainly parents here at c.b. west tonight who believe -- or think that perhaps the incident here was blown out of proportion. they will have a chance to talk tonight. live in doylestown, lu ann cahn, nbc 10 news. >> thanks, lu ann. breaking news. an amber alert out of maryland with a tie to our area. state police are tellingç us a mother took her two young children and threatened to drive off the delaware memorial

bridge. her name is tia marie ve. the license play 4aw-5518 on that honda crv. a 2-year-old and 1-year-old child from anne arundel county are missing. they were last seen around 3:00. if you spot that vehicle or the mom and the children, of course, call police. we're following a developing story tonight out of philadelphia strawberry mansion section. police are on the scene of a deadly shooting on north 29th street. they tell us 39-year-old man was found shot once in the chest. this happened about an hour and awe half ago. he died at that scene there. no word yet on a suspect or a motive. >> all right. to the threat of a septa strike, it has thousands of commuters concerned already coming up with contingency plans for their commute. nbc 10's rosemary connors is

live tonight in old city where both sides just wrapped up a meeting. tell us what you learned. >> reporter: they did, jim. just 20 minutes ago i spoke to the union president who came out of the doors here at the hotel. he gave me two new pieces of information. one, the two sides are still very far apart as far as california and pennsylvania as he put it yesterday. and two, if there is a strike, it most likely would happen on monday. with that in mind, commuters are already making plans and thinking about other options. union president willie brown appeared to be in good spirits when we tracked him down at noon today as he arrived to meet with septa negotiators. commuters hope the discussions will be fruitful but are preparing for the possibility of a strike. >> well, i have a bike right over here. i usually bike and use bus and the train all the time. so i guess i'll just be biking more or not getting around as much. that will be difficult. >> reporter: glenn bergman of

mount airy is following the developments. the main point is pensions. do you typically see something like this, full pension reform on the table with these kind of negotiations? >> i've never seen full pension reform on the table before. i'm a little bit surprised. >> reporter: marina angel, an employment and labor law professor at temple law school, tells me it would be a lengthy process to change the system. >> but the discrepancy here may be greater than most. and the fact that the union took a strike vote means they're very serious about this. >> obviously it's inconvenient for everyone but if they're not going to stick up for their rights, then no one else will. >> reporter: for alanna gross who lives in center city, a strike would mean she'll have to drive to her job but she says she understands what's at stake. >> i grew up in a union household. this is something that the membership feels they need to do, then, you know, i would have to support that. >> reporter: to strike? >> yes. >> reporter: again, this would impact people who ride the

buses, trolleys, subways, they would all be shut down if there is a strike. the union president says he's giving it until friday to see if they can make any progress with septa. i did call just a few moments ago, the septa spokesperson to find out what their take is on what's happened today or rather lack thereof. they say they continue to negotiate and in terms of pensions, it's something that's not unique to these negotiations. it's an issue that other municipalities and organizations are dealing with. the septa spokesperson also told me that in terms of pensions, it's something that needs to be looked at carefully and with fiscal responsibility. reporting live in old city, i'm rosemary connors, nbc 10 news. a lot of people would say that today was just a beautiful day. a lot of sunshine. we've got some clouds around the area now. but it certainly didn't stop the temperature from going up. it got up to 76 degrees in philadelphia. 79 in reading. 71 in philadelphia now, 72 in reading. 71 in allentown, 73 in northeast philly.

georgetown, delaware got up to 80 degrees. they're now at 73. and some other areas have dropped into the 60s. now, the weather issue!çovernigt tonight is likely to be fog. not necessarily by later this evening but toward morning and our future cast shows that most of the fog is in interior sections of delaware and south jersey and also some in the northern and western suburbs. you can see by 7:00 a.m., this two-mile visibility in allentown and in dover, even less in interior sections of south jersey, just inland from the jersey shore. could be dense fog in some of those areas. of course it improves very quickly as we go through the morning hours tomorrow. no issues for this evening. it's going to be a warm one with temperatures only dropping into the mid-60s by 10:00. that's in philadelphia. it will be cooler in the suburbs. but it's going to be way colder everywhere as we head toward the

weekend. we'll have the timing on that, coming up with the seven-day in just a few minutes. >> see you shortly. thanks, glenn. an unexpected discovery in a burlington county backyard, a contractor digging to build a swimming pool found human bones some six feet underground. take a look. these remains were unearthed on bank avenue. cydney long has been at the scene all day long. what have you learned? >> reporter: renee, police don't suspect foul play but they do tell me this investigation is going to take some time as well as thorough and a delicate analysis. that's because it appears these skeletal emains hremains were h quite some time. we were not allowed on the property but we have photographs from the contractors who saw it first.

and renee, we also know from contractors and police out here at the site that the discovery was made yesterday afternoon. also these contractors tell us that dirt was to be hauled off for this swimming pool they were building is now staying at the site to be sifted through so they don't miss anything. we also know from the burlington county prosecutor's office. they had about nine investigators out here this afternoon. they will be joined by a forensic anthropologist. her name is donna fontana. she works for state police and she does this for a living, we're told she was out here on the site today but it is unclear if she's been able to make any preliminary clarification as to when this body was -- when this

person was deceased originally. or if she would have to take the bones to a state police lab in order to do that work. now, again, police will be out here again tomorrow along with those investigators, crime scene tape we can tell you is up as we speak along with this orange fencing. that is to make sure, renee, anyone out here in this community doesn't get hurt because there is now an eight-foot hole and a criminal investigation or what could amount to be a criminal investigation under way. live in riverton, i'm cydney long, nbc 10 news. now to the latest concerns over ebola. today the second dallas nurse infected with ebola was released from the hospital. we're talking about amber vinson. she was talking about her release from an atlanta hospital today. she said she thanked the doctors, hugged the doctors and nurses who had been caring for her for the past few weeks. also today president obama commented on the virus. he says the u.s. can't be seen

as shying away from the battle on ebola. nbc 10 learned that 105 people are being monitored in pennsylvania but the three pennsylvanians who were on vinson's flight have shown no signs of the virus. delaware governor jack markell is said to update the status in his state tomorrow. while we reached out for new jersey health officials for their numbers butç we haven't heard back yet. we'll be right back with glenn's look at the weather. stay with us.

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> we've had a warm stretch of weather lately but today that was really amazing, got up to 76 degrees. we have a warm night ahead but we also could see patchy dense fog forming by day break. we're tracking showers for tomorrow, not a whole lot. weekend cold blast will be a whole lot colder than it has been. we're going to have wind on top of that. it's going to be a really nasty weekend. we have some high clouds around now but not a whole lot of wind. 71 degrees. winds south at 5 miles an hour. we're 8 degrees warmer than we were at this time yesterday. yesterday wasn't all that cold. 71 philadelphia, 72 in reading.

we have the 79 and southern delaware up near 80, 71 in dover right now. see those patchy high clouds, no rain with that. some showers starting to come into western pennsylvania with the cold front. it weakens as it approaches. here we go as we go through the night, generally fair weather, except for the fog toward day break. showers we can see on the radar out to the west inr(q'tral pennsylvania. head of the cold front, at 9:00 a.m. and if we get any showers generally on the lighter side into the early afternoon and then the front comes through and then that's the end of the showers. now it doesn't cool off that much right away. we get kind of a second blast that will get us over the weekend. it's cold enough, yes, that's snow and a mixture of around the

great lakes. some of that could get to the poconos by saturday morning. the warm air, of course, that's on top of us. now it's going going to be relatively mild tomorrow. cooler air comes in thursday and friday. nothing too dramatic. the dramatic stuff comes over the weekend. saturday and into sunday and into monday morning. and then it starts warming up again. this is not a long lasting cold spell. look at that. by next tuesday we've got mild air on top of us. for the rest of the night, it's going to be warm. some patchy fog developing, 58 for the lay philadelphia, 52 north and west. tomorrow, a mild day, showers, mainly in the early afternoon hours and the seven-day forecast, it's colder weather on thursday but on friday, well, the sunshine starts and then the clouds increase during the afternoon but i think it's still

months. instead of fixing the damage they're trading them in for new models. happening tonight, the neshaminy school board is set to decide whether fifth graders will move on to middle school. they are meeting at 7:00. if the kids move the district could add more programs and hire more staff. not everyone believes these children are ready for middle school. the neshaminy federation of teachers says it echos the concerns of the community. more than 92% of the district's educators disagree or strongly disagree with the proposal. now to decision 2014. with seven days to go until election day, the gap in the race for pennsylvania governor is widening. that's according to one new poll that's out today. the latest ugov poll shows wolf with a 52% to 39% lead over incumbent governor tom corbett.

corbett was down just nine points in the last poll. tom wolf had several campaign stops in western pennsylvania today. corbett was in pittsburgh. tom waft's final stop was in dubois. now are there are questions about whether the federal government will be asked to help bail out businesses devastated by the almost daily police searches near the monroe/pike county border. the pocono chamber of commerce says the manhunt has scared away tourists and customers and many merchants are struggling. the federal aid will most likely come in the form of low interest disaster loans. >> cover gaps they may have. 2ç may help keeping full staff on. during these times we see some of the smaller businesses having to let employees go. >> merchants who suffered financial losses because of the manhunt are being asked to contact monroe county's office

of emergency management. tomorrow marks two years since superstorm sandy hit the east coast, leaving parts of the new jersey and new york coastlined ravaged. the storm killed 117 people in the u.s., 34 of them in new jersey and 12 in pennsylvania. some shoretowns were nearly wiped off the map. rebuilding efforts are still ongoing in many communities. nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg covered the storm and its aftermath. he'll have special reports marking the second anniversary, tomorrow, right here on nbc 10 news. i'm john clark. coming up, the eagles have another injury on the offensive line, plus, the flyers get set to face the stanley cup champions. can ron hextall build a winner here? we'll be right back. joined the marines. ryan costello went into politics. trivedi served as a battlefield surgeon in iraq.
