to rise. 55 degrees in philadelphia. 57 in wilmington. 57 degrees in millville. atlantic city, temperatures at 55 degrees. wildwood the foggy conditions show that philadelphia is seeing decreased visibility down to less than a mile half a mile in wilmington quarter mile in wilmington. quarter mile cape may, dover, dense fog advisory will stay in effect at least until 8:00 a.m. we have a few more hours left. again, be careful as you head to work. we're seeing the visibility go down quickly every 10 to 15 minutes. every time i check back in with you we're seeing decreased visibility. just be careful. over the next eight hours you'll see temperatures by 8:00 a.m. 63 degrees. 11:00 a.m. in the mid 70s. 2:00 p.m. 82 degrees. officially seeing a high in philadelphia 84. temperatures will range between 82 and 85 degrees. i'll have all the details on what you can expect for mother's day coming up.

we're covering several breaking stories this morning. north philadelphia. there's a house fire we showed you over the last half hour or so with at least two people there. "nbc 10's" matt delucia is live on the scene on west cayuga street. matt, what else can you tell us? >> reporter: vai, we just got out on the ground a few minutes ago. i'm going to step out of the way. this is the house affected by the fire. the bulk of the damage i'm told is in the rear of this. i spoke to chief cologne from the philadelphia fire department. chief, can you tell us an update on what happened out here this morning? >> okay. upon arrival crews were met with heavy fire. it quickly spread to the adjoining properties. two occupants were removed, transported to temple hospital with smoke inhalation and other injuries. bulk of the fire has been knocked down and it's under investigation by the fire marshall's office. >> you found one of the victims out here on the street? >> exterior face down.

>> the woman inside was panicking? >> we got her out of the building and she was transported. >> reporter: what's happening now? you're making sure that the fire is completely out? >> fire marshall is in there doing his investigation. the fire has been knocked out. >> reporter: thank you very much. i know you're very busy. we'll let you go. sky force 10 is also live over the scene as well. again, you just heard there two people injured. one person able to make it out of the house at the time. one person was still inside. both are at the hospital right now. we're still working to find out an exact condition. we had heard one was critical with the smoke inhalation but we're still working to get more details. as this unfolds we saw the mother here mother and a son out here that were injured as a result of this. the mother was on the stretcher. just within the past 5 to 10 minutes she was taken away in an ambulance. this is a very fluid situation. we have a lot of fire department activity. this is on gilman street next to

cayuga. you can see the fire department apparatus and activity out here. as soon as we get an update we'll bring it to you. live in hunting park. "nbc 10 news", matt delucia. breaking news out of burlington county. crews trying to get the upper hand on a fire spreading through wharton state forest. katy zachry has been live on the scene all morning. katy, are they making progress? >> reporter: hi, tracy. i just got an update. the fire is 50% contained at this time. we are inside wharton state park. it is not far from where the fire is burning. if you're looking at the tree line i'm told it's burning a quarter mile beyond that. speaking of the tree line you can see how dense the smoke is combined with the morning fog. now here's another look at the area. the area specifically that's burning. it was first reported around noon yesterday. the fire has so far grown to over 700 acres. that's 1 square mile. crews are making head way. they created a fire line late

yesterday and had it working into the overnight hours. that means they are fires intentionally set by the forest service to destroy brush and trees so there is no fuel to aid the growing fire. firefighters tell me they believe someone set this fire. they don't know if it was intentional or accidental. >> we have a good idea where it started. we have a good person as the fire towers were picking up the smoke, 911 calls from hikers in the area they were able to give us a visual of what was going on. >> reporter: that incident commander, tom gerber says they should have the fire fully contained by later this morning. reporting live in shamong township katy zachry "nbc 10 news." more breaking news in philadelphia. a teen that jumped out of a moving police car in handcuffs turned himself in overnight. hasheem singletary surrendered in west philadelphia.

that's where "nbc 10's" monique braxton filled us in. >> reporter: hasheem singletary is waking up as the sunrises in police custody. his fugitive status ended when he walked through the doors just after midnight last night. our camera was rolling when singletary turned himself in to southwest detectives. police tell us his family worked with him all day long to make this happen. making him turn himself in because they didn't want any risk of anything happening, manhunt or forceful arrest according to his attorney. the brother told us singletary was, and we're quoting here scared to death. the 16-year-old escaped from a moving rental car while in handcuffs. the car was being used by a private prisoner transport company. singletary was on his way back to philadelphia from florida where he's supposed to face three armed robbery charges. he took off not too far from the

detective division. >> i'm happy not because of the situation but this didn't turn out like a baltimore, this didn't turn out like a ferguson. the police department did exactly what they did best. they took him in. he'll now be charged here at southwest detectives with the warrants that we currently have for him. >> reporter: he's in good condition but he'll likely face escape charges as well. according to police he'll likely also appear before a judge here within the next 240 hours. monique, thank you. police are investigating a homicide in darby borough delaware county. "nbc 10" was along main street. someone shot and killed a man in an apartment building around 1:00 this morning. neighbors were forced outside as a precaution. as police search for the gunmen they are back inside but the gunman is still on the loose. now your "nbc 10" first

alert weather with meteorologist brittney shipp. >> temperatures this morning not too bad. starting off relatively mild in horsham in the mid 50s. 57 degrees in wilmington. at 52 degrees in washington township. cooler and 52 in oxford. 54 degrees in abbey lon. 55 in dover and 54 in swedesboro. big story is how foggy it is. we're seeing decreased visibility for philadelphia. less than a mile. we're down to half a mile of visibility for wilmington. quarter of a mile. want to be very careful heading out. dense fog is going to stick with us at least until 8:00 a.m. at least another two hours or so and this is affecting atlantic city stretching up to tom's river where visibility has been cut down to zero. all of these areas affected by the dense fog advisory at least until 8:00 a.m. here's a closer look at what it looks like in philadelphia.

at 6:15 we're following breaking news into the newsroom from nigeria where suspected extremists are attacking a school. boko haram is expected in the attack against a business school in the northeast part of this country. it happened about 2 hours ago. a suicide bomber in a car bomb set off outside the school and then gunmen detonated a bomb inside a student dorm. the students were in classes at the time. we'll stay on top of the story and bring you new information as soon as we get it. 6:15 another breaking story right now. sky force 10. this is a live picture from our camera atop sky force 10 over a house fire in north philadelphia. we know that two people have been hurt according to matt delucia live on the ground for us. apparently is a mother and a son. he saw the mother being taken away on the stretcher. the son was found face down. one of those two people are in critical condition. there may be a third person. we're trying to confirm this.

we'll bring you that information as soon as we get it. happening in burlington county, a judge will sentence a former pemberton town police officer for indang gerg an 11-year-old girl. he initially faced a child sex assault charge. craig admitted being alone with a girl in her bedroom and biting her lip after telling her he was going to kiss her. craig had to give up his career in law enforcement. jury deliberations resume in the federal corruption trial of these six former philadelphia police officers. the defendants are accused of abusing their authority and stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from drug suspects. dozens of drug convictions were overturned after the justice department handed up a racketeering indictment against the former officers last year. and we are following the fallout this morning after the releels of this dash cam video you're looking at here shows the controversial arrest that happened two years ago. >> get on the ground. >> video shows the 2013 arrest

of latif dickerson. watch it closely. it shows thomas webster kicking dickerson in the face after dickerson had clearly given himself up. the kick knocked him out cold broke his jaw. last year a grand jury cleared webster but this week a new grand jury brought assault charges against him. he is now on unpaid leave. >> i think this is an isolated incident. we did our due diligence as far as following up, investigating it, turning it over to the proper authorities to ensure that accountability was there. >> dover police released a dash cam video after webster's indictment this week. the naacp members are demanding a thorough review of police practices in the city. >> the start of the aberdeen dad vail regatta. college rowers are getting ready to skull the schuylkill river. the dad vail started in 1934. now the largest college regatta

teachers should have their contracts respected. they also should be held accountable. and it's wrong philadelphia gets less school funding than other parts of pennsylvania. i'll work with harrisburg to change that. but if they refuse i'll take them to federal court. as mayor i'll do what's right for them.

police officer killed in the line of duty. officer brian moore died monday a couple of days after he was shot in the head while on patrol. he was 25 years old. police from all over the country turned out for his viewing yesterday and thousands will be at his funeral on long island today. a judge ordered the accused gunman be held without bail. also happening today, the justice department could announce the start of a civil rights investigation of police practices in baltimore requested by the mayor. attorney general loretta lynch looked at a federal probe. baltimore erupted in protests and riots last week following the death of an african-american man injured while in police custody. six officers face charges in that case. and we are tracking a foggy start to the morning, especially down the shore. dense fog advisory staying in effect through 9:00 a.m. and also 10:00 a.m. take a look at this beautiful picture. you can see the sun coming up and you can also see how foggy

"nbc 10's" matt delucia is live. give us an update. >> reporter: yeah vai, two people are injured, a mother and a son. i spoke with the fire chief live here on "nbc 10 news" at 6:00 a.m., and the chief tells me that the son was found actually on the sidewalk here across the street from the home and the

mother was also rescued. she was rescued from inside the house. we have some video for you. we saw her on a stretcher here at the scene. firefighters say she was mostly panicked by the fire. the fire is out. i'm told it started in the back of the house here on gillman street off west cayuga. this was around 5:00 this morning. right now the fire marshall is on scene investigating the cause. those two victims, i'm told they were taken to temple hospital. initial reports indicate that the son is in critical condition. we're still working to get some updates for you. you can see as we come back live firefighters are still on the scene. neighbors are also out to see what happened. they, of course are concerned for the residents here who were injured as a result of this early morning house fire. live in north philadelphia, matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." at 6:33 following breaking news in burlington county new jersey's largest state forest is burning. what started as a small brush fire in wharton state forest has

exploded inside. crews are battling a fire that at last word covers a square mile. "nbc 10's" katy zachry is live on the scene in shamong township. katy, bring us up to speed. >> reporter: the fire is burning 1/4 mile from where we're standing at this rangers station just beyond this tree line, which is hard for you to see because of how dense the smoke and fog is together. firefighters say the moisture from this morning's fog is actually helping to fight the flames. here's a look at the area that's burning. it has grown to over 700 acres, which is about 1 square mile. crews say they are making head way though. they have half of the fire contained and they feel it will all be contained by later this morning. this is largely due to the fact that they have had a fire line in the works, small fires which are intentionally set by the forest service to destroy brush and trees so that there's no fuel to aid the growing fire. firefighters tell us they believe someone set this fire but they don't know if it was

intentional or accidental. we are also hearing from some people who live in the area that they were worried about going to bed last night for fear that the fire would spread to their homes. we asked a firefighter about that. he was here just about a half an hour ago. he said at no time were any homes or businesses in the area threatened by this forest fire. reporting live in shamong township katy zachry, "nbc 10 news." more breaking news in west philadelphia. a teen who jumped out of a moving trang portsport vehicle turned himself in. here he is. hasheem singletary turned himself in. he escaped wednesday while he was being brought back to face robbery and burglary charges. in bucks county police are looking for two armed robbers who carried out a home invasion there. this happened on south lime kiln pike in shalchalfont. he stole wallets, a small safe and cell phones. he beat a man with a pistol.

police tracked the phone and police are aiding in the search. the man accused of killing a girlfriend inside her millsville university dorm room will be arraigned. 19-year-old gregor beat and killed his girlfriend in her dorm room. he called 911 and was giving her cpr when the medics arrived. prosecutors say hall had been dead for hours. 6:36. a chester county man faces felony charges after police say he tried to meet a teenage boy for sex. police say alloo went to meet a 15-year-old boy he met online. the teen didn't exist. police arrested him on charges that include attempted sexual assault and luring gentleman happening today, the owners of manco and manco could find their

trial date. charles and mary bangle say they maintain their lavish lifestyle. the boardwalk and failed to pay tax on the income. ordering meals and skipping out on the checks over and over again. a woman accused of being a restaurant thief is now facing charges in philadelphia. police arrested janine thomas tuesday night after she dined at restaurants. we're told she ordered drinks and a full meal. she said she was going outside for a cigarette and took off. bartenders and waiters put out a warning be on social media. police tell us she's been arrested eight times in the last three months for doing that. >> i think she's extremely opportunistic. i think we live in an age when people can conscious whatever they want. >> her public deefender requested

philadelphia teenager who had a permit hit a student. he surrendered yesterday and he's charged with leaving the scene of an accident. he drove off after hitting i shall rale hall while she was riding her bike near temple's campus. roberts only had a learner's permit. he panicked after the crash and left. police say if he had stopped, he would most likely not have been charged because hall blew through a stop sign.

still, she's still in the hospital with serious head injuries. the 22-year-old would have attended graduation today. instead, her mother went to temple's commencement ceremonies yesterday and accepted hall's honors on rachel's behalf. the lacrosse player made the dean's list several times. her mom said the graduation items will give her daughter hope when she regains consciousness in her hospital room. the philadelphia woman accused of supporting isis pleaded not guilty to the charges. the lawers for key anna thomas say she is a mother of two girls and never provided support to isis. prosecutors disagree. they accuse her of buying a plane ticket to syria to join isis fighters and become a martyr. her trial is set for next month. there is new information about the attack at the antiislamic event. they sent a bulletin to local police warning them about one of the gunmen.

connection with the scandal. meanwhile, thousands of homeowners on the jersey shore could be in for more money for the damage caused by hurricane sandy. fema says it will begin mailing letters later this month asking flood insurance customers if they want to reopen their claims. customers accused their insurers of short changing them. if the homeowner decides to reopen a claim, he or she will be assigned a new adjuster. happening today, all sides in the deal to turn the show boat casino in atlantic city into a college campus will be up today. they bought it from caesar's in december. trump entertainment said a legal agreement bars the show boat from being used as anything but a casino. stockton agreed to 1e8sell the casino to straub but has 90 days to back out of it. yankees player alex rodriguez is closer to a milestone. he moved ahead of willie mace

we love them. >> very sweet. >> we'll see you in ten minutes. >> this was a real good one. >> we can't wait. >> all right guys. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather with meteorologist brittney shipp. >> good morning. it's a foggy start on this friday but we will see warm temperatures back to the 80s. we're staying there throughout the weekend even heading there throughout the week. i'm also tracking subtropical storm ana. i'll let you know exactly where it's heading. for philadelphia foggy conditions at the airport still in the mid 50s. wind speeds calm at this time. the dense fog is especially bad. closer to philadelphia and down the shore. you can see in reading plenty of sunshine here. 56 degrees. temperature wise pretty much the same across the board. it is the fog that's a main concern. big difference in the poconos and reading closer to south jersey and the shore. 52 in allentown. 57 in millville.

56 in atlantic city. 55 in wildwood. the foggy conditions show we have dropped down to 1/4 mile visibility for philadelphia down to 1/4 mile in wilmington. zero visibility for millville. down to zero in toms river. 1/4 mile in mount holly and the same thing in atlantic city. basically what this means is you have trouble seeing ahead of you. driving into work you want to allow extra time. take it easy and be extra careful as we head into the next few hours. dense fog advisory staying in effect until 11:00 all the way to 10:00 a.m. if you're closer to cape may. foggy conditions will stick around for another 2 to 3 hours. we also have an air quality alert for sensitive group like the elderly, children people who suffer from asthma lung diseases. here's subtropical storm anna. brewing off the south carolina coast. going to continue to chip towards us. as it does it will weaken. it will be a remnant low.

where about 700 acres of forest is burning behind me. the fire is just beyond this tree line which is hard to make out because of the dense smoke and fog in the area. state forest fighters have been battling it since yesterday afternoon. overnight they tell me they monitored it and are happy to report that it has not spread. it is half contained at this time. they do expect to have it fully contained by later this morning. at this time no homes or businesses near the fire have been threatened and no one has had to evacuate. reporting live in shamong township katy zachry, "nbc 10 news." >> reporter: now matt delucia live in north philadelphia. two people are injured in an early morning house fire. you see the house here on gilman street off of west cayuga. the son is suffering from smoke inhalation. the mother was rescued from inside the house. firefighters say she was mostly panicked from the fire.

we can see herr being wheeled away out of the scene. the fire has been out for quite a while now. it started in the back of the house here around 5:00 this morning and at the moment the fire marshall is on the scene investigating the cause. the two victims were taken to temple hospital. initial reports say the son with smoke inhalation is in critical condition. fire marshals are on the scene and neighbors as well. they're very concerned for the residents who were injured as a result of this early morning house fire. live in north philadelphia, matt delucia, "nbc 10 news." >> reporter: i'm monique braxton live outside southeast detective where hasheem singletary's fugitive status ended. he walked in here overnight. police tell us they had been in touch with singletary's family
