aquarium. that is one of the warm spots but look at the suburbs. 40s for pottstown, trenton and wilmington. now 50 degrees in millville. 55 in cape may. chillier in the mountains. 40 degrees for the pocono mountains. temperatures will climb. up to 67 degrees by 11:00 and into the 70s at 2:00. the wind will really be picking up though. it will be a blustery day. winds at 18 miles an hour. gusts could be as high as 30 miles an hour. go through it neighborhood by neighborhood with the forecast when i'm back in ten minutes and take a sneak peek at the weekend. check in with first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. >> not a lot to report which i love to say around the 6:00 hour especially friday ahead of a holiday weekend. a lot of people over the next hour should be trying to get out the doorp and headed to their destination. fewer cars on the road as evidenced by this shot at 76. drive times between the blue route and the vine are about 11 12 minutes. that's great for this time.

"nbc 10's" matt delucia is live for us in atlantic city. resort town trying to keep it sparkling. matt? >> reporter: vai, can atlantic city come back? that is the big question out here. i've been talking to people on the boardwalk. the feelings are mixed. you have eight casinos. this time last year there were 11. the city is trying to do more in terms of non-gaming activity. entertainment. you have the former casino properties trying to come back in some form. revel is trying to reopen and stockton college is wrapped up in an effort to reopen the show boat as a college campus. according to one of the guys who studied this a lot of money can be made out here the question

is will that money be spent here or somewhere else? >> this season will be a tale of two seasons. there are many events to bring people into atlantic city. there are many programs whether it's the air show the great summer events that happened at the beach last summer, they'll be replicated. >> reporter: you just heard a few minutes ago about wildwood events to unlock the ocean. the same thing will happen here in atlantic city. there's a lot happening out here. well maybe not right now but later on today and throughout the weekend there will be a lot going on in atlantic city and the shore points in south jersey. 6:30 we'll hear from some of the folks who are out here out and about at this early hour and also some of the free things that you can do if you want to make the trip down the shore this holiday weekend. live along the atlantic city

"nbc 10's" monique braxton is live. tell us what happened. >> reporter: firefighters tell us they were called here just before 4:00 this morning for a fire. the fire marshall has just exited the scene. on the other side of this white vehicle here you see a meeting underway between the fire marshall, lni who just arrived,

as well as two members of the atf squad. i asked him at this point what are you looking at and they said we really can't comment but all of us were summoned here because of a kitchen fire on the first floor. then i asked, was someone cooking breakfast at this time of the morning? they said we don't know but we can tell you at no point this morning were any patients in danger. we're also told there are 100 or so patients being treated here at the cancer treatment centers of america. this is known as the eastern regional medical facility. we've also seen some patients being taken away by family members. certainly not by ambulance. this was a very active scene when we first arrived. there were a couple ladder trucks here. also battalion chief was here. then the fire marshall arrived. so this is a very active investigation. we've asked a lot of questions but they're not willing to share information as to why lni was called as well as the atf.

it may be standard operating procedures and that's something we're going to definitely be following as the morning progresses. live for now from juniata, monique braxton, "nbc 10 news." black lives matter. >> black lives matter. new from overnight, police arrested 20 people at this protest in north philadelphia. people gathered at 17th and montgomery to remember murder victim london chenel who was stabbed to death in a row home during a fight this week. then officers arrested someone nearby who jumped the gate and tried to get on a septa train without paying. that's when the protests reportedly got out of hand and police arrested the protesters. this next story sounds like something out of a movie. a professor at temple university is aus kood of selling defense secrets to china. the defense department charged xiauxing xi. he was working for a company

new jersey's pension system is a mess but don't blame teachers and other school employees. over 20 years, teachers have paid more than 10 billion dollars into their pensions, but new jersey politicians have paid just three underfunding teacher pensions by billions. unless the state makes its pension payments the entire fund could disappear in twelve years- threatening over 200 thousand teachers with poverty in retirement. school employees have done their part. now, politicians need to do theirs. it's only fair.

it's 6:14. this morning all six baltimore police officers charged in the death of freddie gray are now indicted. a baltimore grand jury handed up that indictment yesterday. the indictment are similar to the charges announced. officers arrested gray last month and he died a week later of a broken neck suffered during the arrest. it sparked several days of protests and violence in baltimore.

one of the six indicted officers has ties to pennsylvania, officer nero was a firefighter in gloucester county. ray rice no long 49er faceer faces domestic violence charges. the judge dropped the charges after he completed 1 year of counseling. hats will fly at the u.s. naval academy in annapolis, maryland. more than 1,000 midshipmen will be commissioned in the navy or marine corps. they will toss their hats into the air as they graduate. vice president joe biden will speak. president obama will speak in honor of jewish american her heritage month.

watching the roads. >> vai, no jinx yet. tracy, what we're seeing is really less volume than we typically see this time of the morning. this is a live look at the lehigh valley. route 78. 22, 309, the pennsylvania turnpike all look great. if you're headed to the poconos or somewhere cooler then you are good to go right now. speaking of the northeast extension, you can see the drive times are great on the northeast extension between quaker town and pennsylvania turnpike. it will take 20u minutes in both directions to do that. we were following some debris in the roadway. in horsham along hyland avenue. it tends to be a busy stretch at this time. that has been cleared. finally we are speaking of the shore points. things are looking really good if you're headed to the new jersey shores. 42 freeway and 295, construction has cleared and no issues to report there. now your "nbc 10" first alert weather with meteorologist

bill henley. almost 18 minutes after 6:00. we're stuck in the low 50s in philadelphia. much of the area is running a little chillier. look at this. sunshine. look at that great view from the lowe's hotel in center city. nothing but sunshine. the humidity is already starting to come down 71%. that will go much lower during the day as winds pick up out of the northwest. the winds will deliver the dryer air at the shore. the beach beck cons with sunshine. a lot of sunshine over the weekend, too. if you're looking to stay cooler, the shore might be the place today and for saturday and sunday. calm in reading and pottstown. that will change dramatically. we're seeing some gusts at wildwood closer to 20 miles an hour. future gusts at 4:00 in the afternoon, winds gusting at 25 miles an hour in philadelphia. atlantic city close to 30-mile-an-hour winds. windy day. it will be a sunny one.

what's going on out there, katy? >> good morning, bill. if you find yourself in camden or you're in camden new jersey be aware there is a house fire. we understand that it's growing to other buildings along the block. kaighn avenue is closed. this is a pretty busy stretch. you can take haden avenue. we have a photographer feeding us information and we should have a live shot. moving onto the roadways 295 right at route 30 you can see we don't nearly have as much volume as we typically do. if you're traveling on 295, now is a great time to get out the door. 295, atlantic city expressway all points south looking good. route 1 and 9 looking good as well. the 42 freeway, 295, again, looking really good. i am hearing there is some congestion at 55 where it meets the 42 freeway. and 6:32. we have new information about the breaking news we're following in camden. this is a live scene from a

the holiday week end is here. it is the unofficial start of the summer season. atlantic city is struggling. they've lost three casinos since this time last year. this holiday weekend is a time when the businesses here especially those on the boardwalk, are seeing how the summer will go. here are some of the free things you can do. at noon it's the unlocking of the ocean at north carolina avenue and then a memorial day beach drop -- beach ball drop will happen at resorts at 5:00. 5,000 beach balls will be dropped from high above the boardwalk. i spoke with one of those rolling chair operators on the boardwalk. he said, there's still life in this place. >> people love atlantic city. you cannot -- i lived here all my life. to be able to walk a block and a half to the beach every day, best thing in the world. >> reporter: well here's something else. tonight for the first time here at the tropicana, a light and sound show. that's new this year.

more people headed out over the holiday weekend, but things are looking okay on the roads. we are certainly seeing an increase as we go through the next couple of days. aaa is predicting that 88% of the 37 million travelers that are expected to be out on the roads, 33 million people driving this holiday weekend. we are certainly looking at that as a concern mainly because the gas prices are down. $1 cheaper than they were this time last year. and also people are sick of this winter and they are ready to get their summer started. so we are just kind of hanging out here watching things. things are looking okay. the last couple of years we've tried to get up in the helicopter to give the showcase of what the roads look like heading into memorial day weekend and the weather hasn't been all that great. we've dealt with a lot of fog the past couple of fridays before memorial day weekend but i'm excited to be up in the sky right now. thank you for having me. yeah we'll see how this memorial day weekend goes. the weather for the most part

this happened around 4:00 this morning at 56th street and walton avenue. we have no word on the condition of the two victims, both of them men. one was stabbed in the arms and the other in the back and chest. and here's an update on the controversy over the standardized tests in new jersey. next year students in the garden state will spend less time taking the parcc test. it will be an hour nafr shorter and students will take them once a year instead of twice a year. it's designed to measure progress in math and english. new jersey governor chris christie says he wants an apology for the coverage of the new jersey bridgegate scandal. >> i do believe there is an absolute bias and rush to judgment. >> christie is still deciding whether he will run for the white house. he says he's being held to a higher standard than democrat hillary clinton. she's been under fire for her use of a private e-mail server.

we have new information about breaking news we're following for you in camden at kaighn and rose. two alarm fire. it is not under control. one firefighter as we've been telling you, was hurt. it was a minor leg injury. taken to cooper. the fire started in one home and spread to another home. those are the only two homes affected. firefighters don't know if anybody was inside at the time. we are hearing from our
