we continue to follow breaking news in southwest philadelphia. right now two police officers are injured after their pa central car crashed. check out these photos after an amtrak train derailed. how it happened and the train's connection to this area. >> it's a cool, crisp start to the day. we will warm into the mid 70s. good morning, this is nbc 10 news today, i'm tracy davidson. >> and i'm chris cato. bill, it looks like it's going to warm up nicely. >> yes, if you say the leaves are changing color, i'll go with it i can't see. it is chilly to start with. the temperatures have come down.

it's a degree cooler in philadelphia. most of the area is chillier than that. look at the 40s direction in pottstown. and 44 in allentown this morning. a cool start, but we will eventually get sun and then we will verify the leaf colors. just a light breeze at noontime with bright sunshine, it will warm up to 67, on our way to the 70s this afternoon. your neighborhood by neighborhood forecast coming up. >> we're looking at 422 right now. smooth sailing around trooper road. it wraps around eastbound where the taillights are going toward the schuylkill express way. that is typically where we see the delay. if you're heading out the door

in new jersey, a few things you need to know about. two lanes are being blocked until about 6:00 a.m. this is ongoing construction here between airport circle. and 492 freeway northbound off ramp 295 northbound, that ramp is closed for overnight construction. we'll have updates on these and more cameras in the philadelphia area when i come back in the next ten. a overnight crash sent two philadelphia police officers to the hospital, katy zachri is live on scene, what do you know? >> they're vehicle behind me is pretty badly damaged. we're not far from the philadelphia international airport. you see this is a single vehicle crash. the police suv was headed down on bartem avenue, and lost

control for some reason. accident investigators on scene are not sure yet, or at least not disclosing to us if there was a mechanical failure with the car or if it was driver error. we know a police officer assigned to the 12th district was driving the vehicle. he is in his late 30s and he suffered neck and back injuries. and his partner in the front seat was in her early 40s and suffered a broken leg. you can see front end damage is pretty extensive. the suv slammed into a tree. the windshield is broken in multiple places. both air bags are deployed. at this time there are no witnesses to this crash. accident investigators are out here. they're taking note of how fast the vehicle was going and they're looking at nearby

businesses in an industrial area to see if there are any surveillance cameras that can show what happened. initially when police got here, they were too shaken up and they could not relay what happened but police plan to get that information from them at the hospital sometime this morning. that's the latest live in southwest philadelphia. 4:35 now. finally home, passengers on an amtrak train that derailed in vermont yesterday arrived nifl last night. dozens finally got to the 30th street station. it derailed when it apparently hit rocks on the track in vermont. seven passengers were injured, one seriously. one passenger on board found the conductor after the accident. >> i put him on my back, and he

held on to my neck like this and i told him to just hold on and balance yourself, you know, stay in line so i can get us out of here. >> vermont's governor ruled out terrorism and speed. he said it was an act of nature. of course philadelphia all too familiar with amtrak derailments. investigators are still looking into the derailment in a happened in may. authorities say the train was going more than twice the legal speed limit on that curve when it crashed in richmond. a top lawyer in kathleen cane's office is filing a lawsuit. kane's office says the firing was part of a restructuring. barker wants his job back, damages, and legal costs paid.

a woman charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a girl has been sentenced. last year, a jury convicted her of abducting and sexually assaulting the child, kidnapping the girl. he is was found at a playground the next morning. he is apologized in court yesterday during her sentencing. the woman accused of keeping mentally di mentally disabled adults locked in her basement. they say he is wants a competency hearing to evaluate her mental health. he is agreed to accept a life term in a deal that would spare her from the death penalty. police found four adults chained in her basement in 2011.

a quarter to 5:00 right now. the white house says a series of investigations are under way after a deadly bombing in afghanistan. it killed at least 22 people including doctors and passions. they're helping afghans retake the city from the taliban. the pentagon first said that u.s. troops were in danger. then changed the story saying afghan forces were under fire. doctors without borders that runs the hospital calls it a war crime. >> hospitals and patients during war should be safe places care can be given and this has been violated. >> investigators are l try to answer did the u.s. military know they were firing on a hospital. a security camera captured a woman taling a four-day old baby in india. a woman asked to hold the baby,
