right now on nbc 10 news today, the hunt is on for a person who abducted and raped a woman in west philadelphia. we'll tell you how she escaped after a gruelling 12-hour ordeal. >> and let delaware show the world that it is prepared to go forward in a political revolution. the candidates are here as the decision 2016 spotlight focuses on our region just days before the pennsylvania and delaware primaries. if you stepped outside we're off to a chilly start.

the sun will be out and it will warm up for your sunday so good news ahead. good morning and welcome to nbc 10 news today, i'm katy zachry. let's get to meteorologist karen thomas with our new neighborhood weather. it's a detailed forecast on where you live and i know a lot of people want to know when the sun will start shining and for how long. >> we had a little taste of that yesterday afternoon for some areas later on in the evening yesterday and it really was glorious once the sun came out. we're looking for more sunshine today. there's the good news if you're waking up and joining this morning, good morning. 47 degrees in philadelphia. look at these 40s across the board no matter where you are, stepping outside, it's quite chilly. this time yesterday morning we were in the lower 60s across the board. this is what we're looking at

later on today, bright sunshine. it will warm us up to about 66 degrees in philadelphia. pretty much the same story in the pennsylvania' 'burbs. waiting for the sun to rise this morning but once the sun is up, we are looking for all sun mainly all sun afternoon hours. now we are tracking some rain on the way and we have an active seven-day forecast. i'll be back with a look at that and let you mow what you can expect for your primary election day on tuesday. katy? >> karen, we'll see you then. new this morning, philadelphia police are looking for the person who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy. it happened outside the emergency cafe lounge on east wyoming avenue in feltonville. police say the victim had an argument with another group of kids before the shooting. nbc 10's monique braxton is at

the scene and we will hear from her in our next half hour. this morning, police are searching for an attacker who abducted a woman, duct taped her and raped her in west philadelphia. she was kidnapped around 49th street and lancaster avenue nearly 12 hours yesterday. nearly four hours later she was able to free herself. police say she escaped from a black four door car with a garbage bag over a rear window, which is a good description if you're out looking for it. neighbors saw the 20-year-old woman walking on the 20-year-old sidewalk, they say she was in rough shape. one witness told us his mom got a closer look at the victim. >> she said she saw a girl with bloody face, duct tape on her ankles. >> i heard screaming and she was like "get off me, get off me."

>> the woman was treated at temple university and was released late last night. police say the man they're looking for is around 23 years old with dreadlocks and a long beard. new from overnight, three people are in the hospital after a car crash in philadelphia's bridesburg labor day. police say the car lost control and hit a light pole just before 12:30. we're told the passengers' injuries are minor, though. now to decision 2016. there are only two full days left of campaigning in our area before the pennsylvania and delaware primaries. now, the candidates are crisscrossing the state before voters go to the polls on tuesday. both democratic candidates for president visited our area yesterday. now, bill clinton stumped for his wife in the philadelphia area while bernie sanders pushed to get more voters to the polls in wilmington. >> we do not do well when the voter turnout is low.

let us have the highest voter turnout in delaware history on tuesday. [ cheers and applause ] >> sanders would have to win every remaining contest by 20 poi points. right now he trails in all five states where voting is taking place tuesday. today hillary clinton will be visiting two philadelphia churches. her husband was busy yesterday. the former president made four stops in pennsylvania. clinton started his day speaking to a crowd of about 600 people at the swarthmore rutledge school in delaware county where he called his wife the best change maker he's ever known. >> i think she's got the best plan. is tear down the barriers, build the opportunities. i think she's the only person who's had the experience to go in and do the foreign policy and national security part of the

job and the domestidomestic, to. the former president also surprised customers at the dining car diner in northeast philadelphia, even posing for pictures with lucky supporters. donald trump will be in our area tomorrow with a campaign visit to west chester university. >> being presidential is easy, much easier than what i have to do. >> in connecticut, trump poked fun at reports his advisors want him to act more presidential as he inches closer to securing the nomination. he also mocked hillary clinton and party rival ted cruz. now, cruz visited a high school outside of pittsburgh yesterday. he challenged donald trump's electability calling the front-runner a phony. cruz is spending the next few days campaigning in the midwest. he says the contest in indiana next month is his last stronghold in the fight against trump. john kasich will visit his hometown in western pennsylvania tomorrow for a rally.

note this morning so light jacket if you heading out. we are looking for bright sunshine this afternoon. high pressure in place so that will bring us some nice spring sun. i think we could all use that. and then how about this? turning warmer tomorrow. so we'll be right where we should be at about 66, 68 degrees for a high temperature but bumping up in the temperature department for tomorrow. here's your forecast for philadelphia, your sunday timeline as we move through. 50 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 60 by noontime and a high of 66 at about 4:00. and if you're noticing the seven-day forecast at the bottom of your screen, that is correct, keep watch, not just for philadelphia, either. the pennsylvania suburbs today, here's the timeline. at 8:00 a.m. 45 degrees. you'll see cooler in the 'burbs. the lehigh valley cooler still, 46 at 8:00 a.m. and warming up nicely to 64 degrees. but you see the sunshine, really

welcome back. from the nbc 10 delaware bureau, a town hall will be held tomorrow in wilmington to talk about the death of a 16-year-old girl who was killed in a school fight. >> we have no idea why this occurred. all we can do is come together and we have to begin to love one another. >> the wilmington peacekeepers offered prayers outside the high school. sophomore amy joyner frances died after a fight in the girl's bathroom. her friends tell us she was a peacemaker who always stepped in

to stop fights. >> this should not have brought us together to realize that we need to wake up and make a change. >> hear, hear. >> my heart hurts. >> the governor, attorney general, and mayor are all expected to attend the town hall meeting tomorrow night at stubbs elementary school. well, prince's most beloved family and friends say a final farewell to him. the small group celebrated his life in a private ceremony yesterday after his remains were cremated. prince's publicist says a musical celebration will be held at a later date. the cause of liz death hasn't been released yet. the 57-year-old was found unresponsive at an elevator in his estate in suburban minneapolis on thursday. the tributes to prince continue to pour in, including this one in our area. the delaware river port authority lit up the ben franklin bridge in prince ice signature color, purple. you can see it again tonight in

all its purple glory. and the sky-high tribute to the musician was over the new orleans jazz fest. a sky writer wrote "prince" in the air yesterday. several artists at jazz fest performed his music and his songs were played on loudspeakers around the festival grounds. ♪ i only want to see you laughing in the purple rain ♪ purple rain, purple rain >> the boss honored prince during a concert in brooklyn last night. bruce springsteen began his show with "purple rain" while he stood in a purple spotlight. he ended the song by saying "prince forever, god bless." >> couldn't take your eyes off him. he had his own color. who has their own color? he owns purple. you can't just pick a color and go "that's my thing." the guy was amazing.

time yesterday morning we had plenty to look at at doppler, we're sort of high and dry, we are watching precipitation way up here just moving into the great lakes. this system here is what we are going to be watching is as we move through time. we've got plenty of high pressure in play, nothing for us now but then future cast showing us all the way by tuesday morning, 6:00 a.m., election day in pennsylvania and delaware. here we go. we have a bit of a front with moisture to it. there will be a western pennsylvania setup poised ready to move in our direction for tuesday so tuesday the clouds push in and you want to have the umbrellas handy. futurecast has us by the p.m. rush hour anyway. we have potentially heavy rain moving into the area here. you see philadelphia. we have lakewood, atlantic city, look at these bright colors indicating heavy cells potentially embedded in that system that will be moving through late day on tuesday into tuesday evening. so that's what we want to focus

on for tuesday. we'll be high and dry until then but as that system moves through, a lot of the area getting rain, we see 7:00 tuesday night it's finally moving out of here. some clouds behind for wednesday morning. we could have some residual shower, we'll keep a close eye on that. but you see here it's looking dry, according to this model, anyway, north and east but rain moving in through philadelphia, parts of delaware, south jersey for tuesday into wednesday. so we'll keep an eye on that. right now, though, we are celebrating spring today for sure. check this out. in philadelphia for our sunday forecast we've gotten a update, fairmount no showers here, high pressure in play but we are looking for temperatures in the 60s with sun. in the 'burbs, cooler with plenty of sunshine. south jersey shore area we aren't looking for showers. all sunshine here but temperatures many the mid to
