driver who took off after slamming into two philadelphia police officers along broad street. taking stock after more wins for the presidential front-runners, donald trump and hillary clinton are adding to their delegate counts after wins in our region. good morning, i'm tracy davidson. this is "nbc 10 news today." it is 4:30. and it is much cooler this morning than it has been the last couple of days. let's check in with first alert meteorologist bill henley. bill? >> tracy, the temperatures are still falling at this hour. it's going to be a slow fall as we're looking at mostly cloudy skies. these are live pictures from around our area. this is what's happening right now. the lehigh valley, 51 degrees. you can see some of the lingering clouds in easton, 48 degrees, the temperature still cooling. by 7:00, 40s. then it's into the low 50s at 10:00. look at those cloudy skies. it will be a mostly cloudy day today. and a cool one, too. we're starting in the 40s and 50s and this afternoon, no sign of the 80s like yesterday. 60 degrees for new jersey at the

shore. a chance of a lingering shower, 55 degrees, especially to the south with mostly cloudy skies. breaks of sunshine this afternoon in the lehigh valley. and mostly cloudy day for philadelphia but we will see some breaks of sunshine. and this will not be the end of the clouds as you may have noticed by the seven-day forecast scrolling at the bottom of the screen. take a look at what they return and when you'll need your umbrella again when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington has your first alert traffic. >> we still are watching ongoing construction off of the ramp from 422 around route 23. it looks scarier than it really is. we do have a lot of lane restrictions around with construction crews on site. and some police officers there just to enforce the lane restrictions as well. this typically ends around 5:00 this morning and of course we'll keep you updated. we're watching, still out in north philadelphia, that accident scene where there was a hit and run, broad and parrish closed and 15th is closed between broad and parrish. in north philadelphia, hit

and run crash sent two police officers to the hospital. nbc 10's katy zachry is live on scene. there's several pieces to this story. story. katy >> reporter: there are a couple moving parts, tracy. it's hard to take everything in. we'll lay it out for you. the scene behind me just cleared. let's show you the video that's been out here, that happened a couple hours ago. the screen just wrapped up. so there's a pickup truck that was hit right at broad street and brown street. that pickup truck was being driven by two plain clothes police officers earlier this year. we were driving on broad near brown when a black sedan hit them and kept going. a witness to that crash stopped, got out of his car but his car kept moving forward. it's unclear if he didn't put it in park or there was a malfunction. that is when two men who were walking on the sidewalk jumped in the moving car and took off with it. they drove a few blocks away where they crashed that white

vehicle into another car. then the two men got out of that stolen car and ran to a nearby nightclub back on broad street where they went in and took off identified clothes they were wearing. police out here tell us one of the men was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. he seemed to be taking that off when he entered the nightclub. police are still looking for those two men. i'm told the two injured police officers were taken to a nearby hospital. they should be okay, suffering from minor injuries. they were mostly taken for observation. so what we're going to do since they just cleared this scene, is break down here, drive a couple blocks away to where we understand there may be another scene still active. i'll have an update for you coming up at the top of the hour. reporting live in north philadelphia, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. >> thanks for an update, katy. appreciate it. 4:33. more momentum for the front-runners. donald trump and hillary clinton both won the pennsylvania and delaware primaries and they continue to pull away from their republican and democratic challengers.

nbc 10's matt delucia is here tracking the presidential race and how close the candidates are to clinching a nomination. walk us through this. >> clinton and trump both picked up more delegates and got closer to their party's nomination. first up, we'll talkç about th big takeaways last night. bernie sanders vows to keep fighting in his race. he's looking ahead to the western states. he was in west virginia last night. they vote on may 10th. donald trump, he is calling himself the presumptive nominee. and then you also have ted cruz focusing on indiana. they vote next week. let's take a look at the delegate count right now for the democrats. hillary clinton she picked up 105 delegates from pennsylvania. 16 from delaware, all together now she's at 2,117. she's getting much closer to the 2,383 needed to win the democratic nomination. as we take a look also for the republicans but first we'll hear from both hillary clinton and bernie sanders.

take a listen. >> we will unify our party to win this election and build an america where we can all rise together. >> this campaign is not just about electing a president. it is about transforming our nation. >> all right. now for the republicans, donald trump, he picks up an estimated 20 delegates out of total 71 for pennsylvania because of the large amount of uncommitted delegates there. for delaware, he picks up about 16 delegates. all together, trump is at 954 delegates. so he is inching his way even closer to the republican nomination. let's take a listen to donald trump and ted cruz speaking after the primary last night. >> and i just want to tell you for the five states, i am so honored. this was, to me, our biggest

now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> it's a cooler start this morning. the rain has ended for these locations. the lehigh valley 51 degrees, 46 in the pennsylvania suburbs, hovering at 50 degrees for philadelphia and delaware. and in south jersey, 49 while the shore is at 49 degrees. we'll see these numbers come up during the day. but not to yesterday's levels. exton currently 49 degrees.ç a chilly start this morning and a cooler day overall. this time of year our temperatures should warm into the upper 60s. you may have noticed it will be cooler for much of the next week. that's the seven day scrolling at the bottom of the screen. one seven day for each part of the viewing area. here's why we break it down

neighborhood by neighborhood. the clouds thin out northwest. it's mostly cloudy and delaware and south jersey. indeed, there's still showers to the south. there's a possibility we'll see more showers during the day today as the futurecast shows they'll return to parts of delaware and south jersey. that's at 7:00 this morning. just an isolated shower is possible or sprinkle really north and west as the clouds linger. at 9:30 this morning, still needing your umbrella in cape may, dover and farther to the south. while it's dry in philadelphia, then we should get a break as we go into the afternoon hours. but there's still a chance we'll see scattered showers in the afternoon in south jersey and delaware. while the rest of the area is staying dry, it may even see breaks of sunshine. it will be a cloudy and cooler one day. here's your neighborhood forecast. south philadelphia, 63 degrees. clouds ling are for somerton. neshaminy, 64, malvern, 60 the high temperature today.

they usually pick it up around 5:00 this morning. out in north philadelphia, watching the scene of that hit and run, the southbound traffic on broad and brown is being detoured by the scene. there still is an active scene on 15th and parrish. delaware, we're watching an accident out in wilmington on route 202 northbound and the left lane is closed around foulk road. more updates when i come back. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> clouds are lingering in the area and that's keeping things cooler this morning. 40s and 50s right now. those clouds will stay with us as we go into the afternoon hours. the temperatures have been dropping, not significantly, though, it's 48 degrees in voorhees. look at -- lumberton 48 degrees. just shy of the 50s for much of the area in south jersey. no sign of the 80s we saw yesterday. you may have noticed what's

ahead on the bottom of the screen. that's a different seven day for each part of our viewing area. 7:00 today, 50 degrees in philadelphia, upper 50s for the pennsylvania suburbs and clouds should be thinning out in the lehigh valley. might not see much sunshine, if any, this morning.ç 48 degrees. as we go into the afternoon, we'll still see clouds around but the clouds will be thinning out. to the south, this is where we could see scattered showers at the jersey shore and in southern delaware. northern delaware mainly cloudy, 54 degrees at 11:00. new jersey starting off in the 40s heading to near 60 degrees this afternoon. just a bit cooler at the jersey shore and still a possibility of some scattered showers at the shore. you can see those showers have taken a break for most of the area right now. they are just to the south and this is streaming to the east. this shower activity that's in west virginia, virginia and into maryland is still a possibility for delaware and south jersey today.

but farther to the north, mainly dry conditions. there you see the futurecast showing by 2:00 this afternoon, lots of clouds, breaks in the clouds to the north. but not completely clearing during the day today. then the next round of showers lining up in the midwest and across kentucky and tennessee. that's part of what's going to be moving into our area for tomorrow. so you get a break from your umbrella for today but then showers return tomorrow as we go into the noontime hour, some scattered showers north and west. and the possibility of those showers coming into the philadelphia area by 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. for today, your ten-day outlook shows the cooldown, 63 degrees with mostly cloudy skies today. rain returns during the afternoon tomorrow, 58 degrees and staying into friday. a chance of some showers, 58 the high. then we'll get breaks of sunshine for saturday and the blue cross broad street run is on sunday. 61 degrees the high temperature.
