bill henley and the nbc 10 neighborhood weather forecast. good morning, bill. >> good morning, vai. we're running 5 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. these are the numbers. this is what's happening right now. live picks from across the area. 46 degrees in the pennsylvania suburbs. clouds and light fog in the suburbs. and with clouds lingering, not going to see much of a warmup this morning. 51 degrees, that's by 11:00 this morning. philadelphia, sunshine is on hold to start with. might see breaks this afternoon. but this morning, the clouds lingering and cool. 54 degrees. overall today it's going to be cooler. yesterday we're in the 80s. today it will be 60s with partly sunny skies this afternoon in the lehigh valley. mainly cloudy for philadelphia. clouds and some thinning of the clouds, maybe a little bit of sunshine later today. parts of the area, though, you'll still need an umbrella. we'll break it down neighborhood by neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. jessica boyington has a lack at your first alert traffic. >> we're watching construction on ç422.

typically this is cleared out of the way by 5:00 in the morning. as you con san see, we're a lit behind schedule. 422 around route 23. we have ramp restrictions there and construction crews active on the scene, moving things around. something to watch out for. over in wilmington, delaware, there's still an accident route 202 northbound on that side. also taking out part of the southbound left lane, that's closed around foulk road. some small detours and delays behind the scene. for the most part, everything moving along just fine. that hit and run accident scene in north philadelphia, the southbound traffic on broad and brown is being detoured. there's still an active scene around 15th and parrish. vai? >> jessica, thank you. we're following breaking news out of philadelphia this morning. two philadelphia police officers are in the hospital after being involved in a crash that led to a carjacking and another crash. nbc 10's katy zachry is live for us at one of the crash scenes

this morning in philadelphia's fairmount neighborhood. a lot happened after the officers were hit. just walk us through it. >> well, vai, what's taking place behind me is the second part of a pretty involved crime scene that took place earlier this morning. we're focusing in on this white suv. keep your eye on this car. this is key to the larger story. let's start from the beginning. we have video of the police involved crash that took place along broad street right near brown. so two plain clothes philadelphia police officers were in this pickup truck driving on broad street at brown when a black sedan hit them. that black sedan kept driving. so a witness to the crash stopped his car, got out. i'm just learning from police he didn't put it in park. he just got out of his moving car because he seemed to be frightened by the whole crash that had taken place in front of him. so he started running and his car kept moving forward. two men who were walking on the

sidewalk near all of this commotion, apparently, jumped into that moving vehicle. suv you're seeing in the video. they jumped in that white suv. they're in essence stealing a car from a crash scene, they drove several blocks away from that initial crash scene where they then crashed into two vehicles right near 15th and parrish street in the fairmount section of philadelphia. then witnesses to that second crash saw the two men run from that white suv into a nearby nightclub on broad street where they apparently went in and took off any identifying clothes they were wearing. one witness told police that one of the men running from this scene behind me was wearing a red hooded sweet shirt. took that off as he went into the nightclub so he wouldn't be able to be identified. please are still looking for the two men who stole this white suv behind me. they're also looking for the

person in that black sedan that initially struck the undercover officers' pickup truck on broad street. the undercover officers were taken to hahnemann hospital. one has a concussion, the other minor neck injuries. the chief just got on scene. he'll help sort us out and i'll have his comments on what unfolded here this morning at 5:30. katy zachry, nbc 10 news. last night's primary results signal defeat for long-time congressman chaka fattah. >> the loss comes as jury selection is set to start next week in his federal corruption trial. last night fattah and his family greeted somber supporters in east falls. he talked about his record of delivering for his district. but he seemed to acknowledge the indictment was too much to overcome in this election. >> yes, there were forces

against us tonight, a very powerful and influential people. they were on the other side. it is also clear that the majority will have its way and they've decidedç that someone else should take on the responsibility. >> and here's the man who defeated fattah. dwight evans walked into his election party to warm greetings from family, friends and supporters. the long-time pennsylvania statehouse member won this congressional race with 44% of the vote. >> first i want to thank the democratic voters of the 2nd congressional district. i am humbled by the trust that they have provided to me. >> also in his victory remarks, evans thanked fattah for serving the district for two decades. evans will take on republican james jones in the november general election. now to the presidential race. republican donald trump won all five of yesterday's primary contests. >> and democrat hillary clinton won four out of five, including pennsylvania and delaware.

she gave her victory speech here in philadelphia. take a listen. >> with your help, we're going to come back to philadelphia for the democratic national convention. with the most votes and the most pledged delegates. >> clinton is less than 250 delegates away from clenching the democratic nomination. meantime, republican front-runner donald trump said after his five victories last night that he considers himself the presumptive nominee. >> as far as i'm concerned it's over. these two guys cannot win. there's no path. why would i change? you know, if you have a football team and you're winning and then you get to the super bowl you don't change your quarterback. i'm not changing. >> today trump will deliver a speech on foreign policy in washington, d.c. before heading to indiana to campaign. right now we'll break down the presidential primary results in our area county by county. >> it will give you a detailed look at where voters in delaware

and pennsylvania stand. matt delucia is with us for that break down. >> it was fairly decisive victories for trump and clinton yesterday. according to the ap, clinton is 90% on the way to the democratic nomination. donald trump is about 77% on the way to the republican nomination. and now you have ted cruz and john kasich, they are still doing everything they caíç to stop donald trump. ted cruz has been focusing his efforts on the state of indiana. they vote on may 10th. let's take a look at the presidential race for the democrats here in our area. you had hillary clinton taking all of the counties in our area. very decisive victory there for her. and then also for the republicans, donald trump took all of this area as well. looking at the democrats for president in delaware, hillary clinton took all three of the counties here in the first state and then also for the republicans, donald trump took all of those as well.

on sweet briar drive where she lived with her mother and her mother's boyfriend. a judge denied the mother bail and sent her to bucks county pri prison. >> now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> the big storms are out of here but the clouds, they're still lingering in the area. you can see some thinning of the clouds, but also a few sprinkles. that's ocean county right now in new jersey. just some very light rain drops there. those are going to be a possibility laterç this mornin. there goes the steadier rain offshore, just clearing in southern delaware. that was falling in southern delaware when we went on the air at 4:00 this morning. there's still a chance that delaware and south jersey will see scattered showers during the day. the futurecast shows 7:30, look at the rain drops falling into south jersey, delaware, farther to the north it stays dry in philadelphia and allentown. though clouds will be lingering. the showers will be on the move. they will still be around at

10:00 in the morning. as we go into the afternoon, the clouds thin out and we'll see those showers taper off. dry in philadelphia with some sunshine possible late in the day. it's going to be a mostly cloudy one. instead of the 80s, the neighborhood forecast shows we'll be stuck in the 60s. somerton, 63 degrees. pennsylvania suburbs more likely to see some breaks in the clouds this afternoon, up to 63 for lansdale. even with those breaks it will not be much warmer for bethlehem, easton, 63 degrees today. for south jersey, still a chance of a sprinkle, a better chance really at the shore for wildwood and atlantic city and delaware could see some scattered showers this morning and finally tapering off this afternoon. that's today. at the bottom of the screen, the seven-day forecast. when i come back, your ten-day outlook. tracy, vai? >> thank you, bill. about 11 past 5:00 a.m. on a wednesday as people are hurrying out the door to work. >> let's check 42 to start there. nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington is

watching the cameras on 42. how's it looking. >> no problems into philadelphia, vai and trace tracy. speeds still into the 60s there. there's still also an active scene, an accident in wilmington, delaware on route 202 northbound. additionally, the southbound left lane is also closed right around foulk road. delays behind that. still, that construction if you're heading from new jersey into delaware this morning, that partial lane closure heading into delaware. it's only the left lane. we haven't seen backups since about a week ago when we had almost all lanes, only one lane getting by.ç it's much different this morning and we haven't seen the backups. something to watch out for heading into delaware into new jersey on the delaware memorial bridge. >> police are still investigating the death of music legend prince. now we're hearing from long-time friend and attorney. hear what he's saying about the

salah abdeslam was arrested in belgium last month after four months on the run. he is wand for his role in the november attacks in paris that killed 130 people. he'll face judges in paris within a few hours. new this morning, getting a second chance at life. april is national donate life month and one churn's hospital here in our area is the leader in pediatric organ transplant surgeries. 14 years dede togba has been treated for kidney failure. she spent years on daily dialysis which men the she missed school and couldn't play sports or go to sleepovers with her friends. thanks to an organ donation, dede has a new kidney. her organ donor was a young man from allentown. dede has been in touch with his family and plans to meet them in the future. >> i think it is very important and you should try to be an organ donor because you give kids a second chance to live a really good life an they can be >> well, while many donated

organs come from people who pass away, half the kidney transplants at c.h.o.p. came from living donors. today philadelphia school superintendent dr. william hite will join officials for the ground breaking of a new school yard. it will cost more than $100 to build a new school yard on east york street in kensington. here's an artist's rendering. it will feature new green spaces, outdoor classrooms an a playground accessible to people with disabilities. today marks 100 days until the rio olympics and nbc 10 your olympic station sent nbc 10's jacqueline london to rio to find out how the city is getting ready for the games. >> while she was there she checked out a local landmark you might associate with bond, as in -- ♪ there it is, a clip of "moon

still active.ç we typically clean up around 5:00 in the morning. we're a little behind. they may be letting cars through. you can see how the clonz are spl -- cones are split up there. we have crew on the scene and lane restrictions on 422 because of it as well. the schuylkill expressway is okay, especially through the conshohocken curve. no problems or big delays yet. eastbound into center city, the blue route to the vine street expressway still an 11-minute trip. no problems heading westbound. also in wilmington, route 202 northbound is still dealing with an accident scene and the southbound left lane is closed around foulk road. >> now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> big storms yesterday afternoon and evening have left us. now skies are mostly cloudy and the temperatures, they've gotten a bill cooler. 50 degrees now in philadelphia. it will stay cooler as clouds will be lingering during the day today. and philadelphia is not the only cool spot, south jersey 49

degrees, delaware is at 50. the pennsylvania suburbs are at the very low 50s right now. and some 40s, too, even in the city, west mount airy is 48 degrees, 50 in bustleton and fox chase. clouds linger through the day, 60 degrees this afternoon for philadelphia. the pen suburbs, dry but mostly cloudy. by lunch time, 54 degrees. the temperature and still climbing. not a lot warmer. the lehigh valley may see late-day sunshine but the clouds will still linger even into the late afternoon hours. 60 degrees there. for delaware, cloudy skies for new castle county. farther to the south, a chance of some lingering showers. and that chance will be at the shore, too, with 52 degrees at 8:00. just middle 50s for noontime and 4:00 p.m. could see breaks of sunshine this afternoon. mostly cloudy and interior new jersey and near 60 degrees this afternoon. there are the clouds. the showers have pushed to the south. but there are more showers ahead

as we head into tomorrow. they'll be coming in from the west. the futurecast shows lingering showers a possibility this morning. by 2:00 this afternoon, mostly cloudy skies. allentown, youç may break out into sunshine. that's at 2:00 this afternoon. then tomorrow, there are the showers that will be returning tomorrow afternoon. so your ten-day outlook has chances for more rain in the area. not so much today but tomorrow the rain returns and a few showers could linger into friday. just a chance of that. it will keep temperatures cooler for tomorrow and friday. for saturday, 66 degrees. nice warmup with sunshine and the broad street run, the blue cross broad street run will be dry. but showers in the afternoon and 61 degrees. those showers linger into monday and tuesday. by wednesday, thursday and friday, we're back in the 70s. vai? >> all right, thank you, bill. 21 minutes past 5:00 a.m. it is 50 degrees outside. an arrest 13 years in the making. we'll show you the man police

in the lehigh valley, easton 51 degrees, could see a sprinkle with these clouds but nothing more than that in the lehigh valley. 54 degrees with mostly cloudy skies at 11:00. those clouds will be hanging in there for most of the day today. that's really going to keep our temperatures down. yesterday we warmed into the 80s. it will be 60s with partly sunny skies this afternoon, later this afternoon in the lehigh valley. delaware, 60 the high temperature. central and southern delaware could see a sprinkle. the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen, it turns even cooler tomorrow with more rain. i'll take a look at that when i'm back with your neighborhood forecast. jessica boyington watching first alert for traffic. we are watching the schuylkill expressway. this is right around, our camera is right around montgomery drive. no problems in either direction, westbound or eastbound, all traffic is moving. and a 12-minute drive time eastbounom
