hurt after two police-involved shoot innings philadelphia. >> the first shooting happened on grays avenue in southwest philadelphia. the second shooting happened in the city's overbrook section. nbc 10's katy zachry is live in overbrook this morning where that shooting turned deadly. tell us what you know, katy. >> reporter: tracy and vai, we know from police here at the scene that the person who was shot, the man who was shot near overbrook and lancaster avenue was killed, as you said. within the hour they've cleared the scene for the most part. they've opened up the intersection but they are still holding this menny van that we're pushing in on, the door is open. you can see an air bag has been deployed. they're still holding this as evidence. the shooting here happened around 1:00 this morning near the intersection of 63rd and overbrook avenue or near lancaster avenue. we're being told from investigators that uniformed and nonuniformed officers, also plain clothes officers were part of the shooting and several shots were fired from police and the man was killed.

they have notç released his identity yet. let's go to video from another scene that happened a short time before this. we do know from an earlier police shooting, this one at 53rd and grays avenue in southwest philadelphia that an armed man fired at police from a back porch. here's how it happened. >> they approached the male, telling the male to drop the weapon. that male aims and fires one shot at police, fires and misses. one of the officers fires two times back and shoots the male in the leg. >> that man, again, his identity has not been released. he's listed in stable condition at a local hospital with a bullet wound to both his l'eggs. there was also another individual, a man, inside that home who has been taken to southwest detectives for questioning and police are holding that scene in grays ferry. as soon as they get a search warrant, they will go inside the home, search for the weapon and other evidence associated with

but the voters chose another path. we are suspending our campaign. >> meantime, trump praised cruz for taking that step. >> what ted did is really a very brave thing to do and a great thing to do. we want to bring unity to the republican party. >> reporter: as trump celebrated his win, democrat bernie sanders acknowledged his upset victory in indiana. >> i understand that secretary clinton thinks that this campaign is over. i've got some bad news for her. >> sanders acknowledged his path to victory is narrow but says the win in indiana gives him a burst of momentum. overnight sanders pulled the associated press there will be more victories in the weeks to come. hillary clinton used the indiana results to appeal to donors. she tweeted, donald trump is the

presumptive gop nominee. chip in now if we agree we can't let him become president. trump and clinton are zeroing in on their party's nominations. both candidates have commanding delegate leeds. sanders' win added to his delegate total but the vermont 4zm5áznton.close to 800 behind trump's victory in indiana cat pulled his delegate count north of 1,000 and has him less than 200 delegates from the nomination. and they can this out from last night in indiana. ted cruz accidentally hit his wife in the head. here it is again in slow motion. it happens after cruz told supporters he was dropping out of the race, adding insult to injury. candidates on both sides will compete next in the west virginia primary next tuesday. and contests in oregon the following tuesday. five more states will have their say june 7th including the delegate rich states of california and new jersey.

i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. meantime with less than three months to go until the democratic national convention in philadelphia, organizers realize that you might have questions. today they want you to have answers. convention officials are holing a community forum this evening at 5:30 at philadelphia high school for creative and performing arts. they will answer questions for businesses like how you can make sure your business gets found on google. organizers also want to tell you about the meetings they've been having with cell phone companies to make sure your phone works when 50,000 people converge on the city for the convention. an inmate is on the run this morning after he escaped a prison in atlantic county, just 19 days before he was scheduled to be paroled. arthur buck was missing at bed check yesterday morning at the ancora psychiatric hospital at bayside state prison in

hammington. police officers in three communities canvassed wooded areas, camps and rural neighborhoods near the prison but found no sign of buckle. it's second time an inmate escaped the same psychiatric unit in the past six months. philadelphia police released surveillance video of a woman who was able to save herself from being raped. this man in a hoodie stalked and tried to rape a woman on april 20th around 1:30 in the morning around 13th and warden. when he attacked, the woman hit him in the threat and pepper sprayed him. the struggle woke up neighbors who tried to help. >> wasn't sure what was going on until i heard the woman scream yell fire which i know to be code for sexual assault. i raised my windows, tried to find out where she was. >> since the attack, police passed out bulletins to warn the neighbors. complete commend the woman for

today and for the next few days it's all about suds in philadelphia. the city is welcoming thousands of beer brewing professionals for the craft brewers conference. nbc 10's matt delucia drew the short straw. he's live at the pennsylvania convention center. matt, philly's craft beer scene

will be well represented at this conference. >> my mouth is watering, even at this hour. 12,500 people are in town for this craft brewers conference. it doesn't seem like a lot of people but that makes it the largest craft brewers conference of all time in america. last time it was held here, only 1,500 people showed up.ç when the expo itself opens today, it's not open to the public. it's only for those in the beer brewing industry. we wanted to know how much business craft beer brings, especially to our area. the brewers association tells me some 4,400 jobs in pennsylvania are directly from the breuer riz. a lot of them are at yards brewing company here in philadelphia. he said ten years ago they were just trying to survive. now they're on track to expand. >> it's amazing. when we started, we were like one of two.

of saint katharine drexel is up for sale. the 44-acre property is tucked away in bensalem, bucks county and houses the remains of the saint. she was born to the wealthy drexel family. she became a missionary to native american and black communities during the era of segregation in america. for decades her shrine has served local catholics seeking lately the pews have been empty. they say it's become too expensive to maintain the sprawling campus. next year, the body will be transferred to the cathedral basilica of saints peter and paul in philadelphia. an entire city in northern alberta has been evacuated because of a wildfire. unseasonably hot temperatures combined with dry conditions fueled the fire. ft. mccurry is the capital of the third largest reserve of oil

in the world. the wildfire destroyed several homes but no serious injuries have been reported. it is 5:19 on a wednesday morning. boy, it seems like it's been wet all week on the roads out there. not changing. >> windshield wipers just continue, jessica boyington. >> that's true. we're seeing a lot of windshield wipers, slippery spots, getting on and off of the highways and through intersections. there will be tricky spots for you. we've seen a few of those accidents since monday, since the beginning of the week for sure. even one that just cleared on the schuylkill expressway as well. we're also dealing with construction. here's 95 around the blue route. actually this construction just lifted a few moments ago. it was scheduled until about 5:00 this morning. a little bit behind schedule, which@5m understandable, of course. headed from 95 northbound to the blue route northbound ramp. that was closed for most of the morning. it just re-opened to traffic. for the most part, no big delays there. there's also an accident out in

upper moreland on davisville road and east county line road. that might set you back this morning. the schuylkill expressway, looks okay right through the conshohocken curve. we're also in the green. 13 minutes at the most if you're heading into center city eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway with speeds down into the 50s, still the high 50s. we're still moving along nicely. vai? >> now your nbc 10 first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> a cool, dreary weather continues. it is unseasonably cool. the temperatures are well below average. the normal high temperature is 70 degrees this time of year. look how cool it's been. we're going to stay cool today and right on through the end of the workweek. and it looks like we will be seeing rain for most of that time or at least a chance of some rain with some areas of fog, too, for philadelphia, the pennsylvania suburbs, lehigh valley, what you don't see here is any sunshine breaking through the clouds. the temperatures parked in the 50s for the most part.

delaware tomorrow could hit 60 degrees. that's not much warmer than what we will see this afternoon. so a dreary start and a cooler morning. we're at 51 degrees in philadelphia. the temperatures running 6 degrees to 7 degrees cooler in the area this morning. a little bit chillier. the clouds, the rain, that will be a factor as we go through the day. the steadier rain showers have been in the pennsylvania suburbs. light rain moving through philadelphia. we've seen just a few scattered showers in south jersey and delaware, looking at cloudy skies right now. we'll be watching to the southwest. this is where the weather is coming from, the rain showers will be moving back in this afternoon. that's when we could see some scattered thunderstorms. futurecast showing at 10:30 this morning, more light showers into lancaster and berks county. dry in philadelphia, wilmington and trenton. most of south jersey is dry with just a few sprinkles in delaware. go into the afternoon, here comes steadier rainfall. that's early in the afternoon. the heavier showers are in

central pennsylvania. we could see downpours during the late afternoon and early evening hours. that's at 5:30 today. doesn't look too bad there. this computer model showing maybe the same quiet as we head into the later evening hours. more possibilities for wet weather. 57 degrees today with occasional showers. some fog to start with. then showers and clouds hang in there, 59 degrees. steadier rainfall. this is one we could see gustier winds on friday. but you can't help but to notice we're back to normal over the weekend. a nice warmup on saturday. sunshine on sunday. mother's day, morning showers could roll through the area and then a nice break from the rain. the temperatures taking off. tuesday, wednesday and thursday, afternoon temperatures in the 80s. i can hear it now. what happened to spring? we didn't have a spring. well, we're going to get a summer preview, that's for sure. it will be cooling down as we head towards the end of the week. back to spring on friday.

the largest auto safety recall in u.s. history is about to get even bigger. landon dowdy is here with details in the cnbc business news. >> takata is expected as soon as today to announce it's recalling an additional 35 million to 40 million air bags. the expanded recall would be more than double what's already the biggest action in u.s. hr(t&háhp &hc history. to date, they have recall ed 25 million vehicles. over on wall street could add to tuesday's losses. stocks falling giving back all of monday's gains, following data showing a decline in china's manufacturing sector and that is raising fresh concerns about the world's second largest economy. the dow up 140 points to 17,750, the nasdaq losing 54 to 4,763.
