5:31 am
quickly been spinning out. in fact when i drove in which is only a couple hours ago we were still seeing dense fog even through philadelphia. all we needed was a little boost in temperatures to start thinning the fog and now we're right back to where we should be. ten miles is the max you'll see on the visibility map and that's where we are at philadelphia airport. look at northeast philly, same deal. but as we go into trenton, allentown, mount pocono and reading, right around a quarter of a mile to a half mile which indicates very dense fog still lingering in some parts of our viewing area. notice pottstown and lancaster, they've just recently started to see thinning fog. if you will be getting out this morning that fog is continuing to thin out from south to north. why? the warmer air is continuing to pump on in just as we were telling you yesterday. so, now we're really starting to see those temperatures boost, as well. overnight we were expecting some very light showers to move through and that did happen. since then those have moved on out. pockets of heavier rain, as well. and the next round will be coming. the next round is going to last
5:32 am
awhile. in fact this is a whole line of rain that's going to start to move in. so sunday is going to be a wet one. taking farther outlook and that's where you can see it starting right through central parts of pa and stretching through pittsburgh and even into cleveland we see some of the lingering of a cold front. that's going to start to move in. it's also going to drop our temperatures as we start moving through the afternoon. these temperatures are going to be warmer than later in the day. 51 in philadelphia and 48 in lancaster. 44 degrees for allentown. these temperatures are going to climb before noon before they start to slip. we'll track those numbers. than. you can see the thick fog blanketing our region. the fog moved in last night. holiday shoppers walked out of the king of prush yeah mall into this soupy mess. in fairmont park you could barely see just a few feet in front of your car it's all clear

5:44 am
rebel held areas of aleppo. those evacuations came to a hat on friday. nbc's matt bradley has more in london. >> reporter: well it's very tough to say exactly when we're going to see these evacuations beginning. reuters is quoting a rebel leader who's blaming an iran backed militia group for holding up the evacuations even after this agreement was reached. according to this leader the militia groups are demanding that injured people in two pro-government towns west of aleppo be evacuated at the same time. that was part of the original agreement but it's not clear that evacuations of these pro-government towns is anywhere near beginning. but this kind of holdup is consistent with how this cease-fire deal has gone in aleppo all week long. it was on, and then off, and then on and then off again. >> they broke it. they did not fulfill it. that's why you know the process has been delayed or stopped. >> will the evacuation be back on? >> i don't know. >> now it's on pending some
5:45 am
agreement. obviously very little reason for optimism but for civilians trapped in the hold-out rebel-held neighborhoods of aleppo this is still their best hope for escape and ultimately for survival. all of this is so delicate it just takes one errant shot or misunderstanding to send negotiators back to square one. even as this 4 year long battle for aleppo comes to an end the fate of tens of thousands of people hang in a very tenuous balance. back to you. in china, authorities say they will return a u.s. navy research drone that the country snatched from international waters last week. this all started when a navy survey ship recovered two of the unmanned gliders near the philippines. a chinese ship took one saying it was in a part of the south china sea that they claim as their own. the pentagon has reached a deal to get the drone back. but donald trump tweeted yesterday, quote, we should tell china that we don't want the drone they stole back, let them keep it. president-elect trump has had a

contentious relationship with china. first he angered beijing by speaking to the leader of taiwan. and ter criticized china for building military outposts in the south china sea. a rebel in the box office, plus a really big lottery. those are the headlines for the week ahead in business news. cnbc's dominic chu gives us a preview. is the newest star wars movie living up to expectations? disney predicts "rogue one" will bring in $ is 50 million in the u.s. alone over the weekend. watch for box office figures on monday. there's no slowdown in earnings reports going into the long holiday weekend. federal express, nike and carnival cruise lines all report on tuesday. other well-known names include bed, bath,&beyond on wednesday and conagra on thursday. plenty of information in the week's economic report. november existing home sales are out on wednesday. new home sales will be released on friday. and finally, spain gets to see

who wins its multibillion dollar lottery. it's known as el gordo or the fat one and this year's prizes total $2.4 billion. the drawing will be held on thursday. i'm dominic chu. get all your business news on cnbc. now your nbc 10 first alert weather. and we're starting off with temperatures, but not in the same fashion we did yesterday morning. yesterday morning was all about was it cold enough for freezing precipitation. today, it's all about how warm they are out there. take a look at your jersey shore neighborhoods. we have 50s on the map to start out with. we're in december. 51 degrees right now at cape may courthouse. 54 for woodbine. 53 in mays landing and atlantic city, at 50 degrees. not a bad start. the thing is these temperatures are going to climb a bit through your morning hours. then they're going to start to drop off. because in the afternoon, a cold front is going to move through. now the cold front is coming west to east so jersey shore neighborhoods see the front last. meaning, these temperatures have
5:48 am
the longest time to warm and may make it into the 60s a bit later on. now we're looking at your temperatures for the lehigh valley. the first area to see the cold front and the last area for that warm air to filter in from the south. meaning temperatures haven't warmed merely as much. so we're looking at lehigh valley temperatures, allentown, 34 degrees, 32 in mertztown. bath at 34 and bethlehem at 35 degrees. still chilly there. not seeing rain yet but for the most part even if we did see precip the numbers are just above freezing. meaning it would fall as rain. that's going to continue the case as we move throughout the morning and this starts to move in. looking at our radar and satellite, nice wide view. look at this cold front. so the warm front, warmer air started to surge in yesterday from the south. that's why we saw the changeover from snow to icing conditions to rain, and then finally breaking apart. now we're tracking the actual front itself starting to move in. ahead of it will be the rain. behind it will be much colder
5:49 am
air. notice there is some of that freezing precipitation and snow again. i don't think much of that is going to make it our direction. temperatures will be a little too warm for us to see that. at this point, we'll see pockets of rain move through overnight. there was a spot area of heavier showers that moved through. now it's mostly just clouds and wet roadways you're going to experience. now if you get out a little later this morning, into the afternoon, you're going to run into the rain. so you need the umbrella, you don't even have to do the hair this morning. we're looking at starting hour by hour. then we go through 8:30 there's that line of rain starting to move in. it's not going to be a constant rain the entire day. it will be periods of in/out rain but notice yellows and oranges indicate the pockets of heavier rain moving through. getting out for some shopping, we've got a week left, you're going to notice the rain is starting to move through all of our neighborhoods. by 3:30 it's starting to move out of philadelphia. i think by 4:00 to 5:00 the latest it starts to move out of new jersey and off the shore by
5:50 am
5:00 to 6:00 and then we'll just see some lingering clouds starting to break apart as well. we go overnight. some clearing but as we start your monday morning, those clouds start to return. and we are way cooler on your monday. we'll talk temperatures coming up. christmas certainly came early this year for philadelphia based nonprofit serving thousands of people across our region. it was a complete price when nrg presented a check for $100,000 to manna, a nonprofit that makes and delivers a million nutritious please a year to people battling life threatening illnesses. the donation kicks off the new charitable giving initiative called nrg gives. >> $100,000 is a huge amount of money for this organization. and it's going to really help so many people, and people that are fighting for their life. so this is a huge, happhappy da. >> manna was among three nonprofits nominated by nrg
