66 degrees in philadelphia. 59 in the suburbs, and 63 in new jersey. that 64 will warm into the upper 70s in the lehigh valley. a little bit warmer in delaware this afternoon. mostly cloudy skies. in fact, you may not see any sunshine today for most of the neighborhood. 67 now. 68 in wilmington by 6:00. 71. you see the clouds limiting the warmup. that's at 9:00 this morning. north afric this afternoon, scattered showers and thunderstorms for the suburbs and lehigh valley. there's a chance you'll run into in showers in the -- the interior sections of new jersey. while at the shore, we'll see breaks of sunshine and possibly temperatures climbing into the low 70s. i'll break it down hour by hour, look at the futurecast to show when the showers are most likely in your neighborhood when i'm back in ten minutes. first, jessica boyington watching traffic. we're watching the lehigh valley. here's 78 around lehigh street.
both directions look good. westbound, eastbound, everything's moving just fine. also watching a crash, new into the system here. upper gwennid. watch for lane restrictions in both sides. watching for the complete expressway. usually closed from broad to the schuylkill. we saw the ramps, closures get lifted. right now we're waiting for some of the last finishing touches. police activity moving out of the way. updates on that when i come back in ten minutes. more of your drive times. back to you. developing this morning, crews will be back out searching for two teens missing in the ocean off the jersey shore. overnight, we have learned it's being called a recovery effort. katy zachry joins us from where the teens were last seen swimming off martin luther king boulevard.
any word what happened to them? >> reporter: at this time, officially no. witnesses described seeing the teenagers in the water and then going under. we were here throughout the night for the search effort. we're told by witnesses that the currents were extremely strong. family of the two missing swimmers stood on the beach distraught. some were unable to stand. they watched as crews searched the water from above. the teenagers were seen in the water off of martin luther king beach. it was around 6:30 when they went under. within minutes, rescuers were in the water but never caught sight of them. the search continued until well after dark. people who watched tell us the currents were strong. >> the currents pull you in. and you're stuck. >> it's just tragic, scary. >> reporter: so far there has been activity on the beach
behind us. this is the area where the two teenagers were last seen and the search was underway. i've reached out to the coast guard. one of the agencies involved, as well as the atlantic city beach patrol to find out details about when the recovery effort will resume this morning. sunrise around 5:30. we'll be here throughout the morning. reporting live, katy zachry, nbc10 news. >> thank you. deadlocked and digging in. the jury in the bill cosby sexual assault trial under judge's orders will try for a fifth day to decide his fate. they've completed 40 hours of deliberation. yesterday they told the judge they were deadlocked. the judge ordered them to keep working. cosby denies that he drugged and molested a temple university employee in 2004. we'll have a live report from the courthouse coming up at 5:30. yesterday, motions ran high outside the trial. spectators both supporting and
opposing bill cosby clashed. the war of words came after the judge told jurors to keep deliberating. we have breaking news from overseas. russia says one of its air strikes in syria killed the leader of isis, ibrahim abu backar al back dadghdadibaghdad. the russian defense ministry posted on facebook that that its fighter jets took out the leader, his military council, and more than 300 fighters during a meeting in raqqah last month. so far, no confirmation from u.s. officials. the trump administration says the pentagon wil4,000 more afghanistan. the official announcement could come as early as next week. the troop deployment will be the largest yet under president trump. u.s. commanders have been calling for more forces to fight the taliban resurgence in afghanistan. and a bipartisan --

scalise, and where he was standing wednesday during practice when a bullet ripped through his hip. he i are mains in critical condition. >> this is america. and as i've told people before, america doesn't give in, america doesn't give out. and when we get punched, we punch back. >> reporter: the colors of the night, purple and gold. a nod to the wounded congressman's beloved alma mater, lsu. >> i think it may be a distraction that a lot of people on capitol hill need right now. >> reporter: the final four, 11-2. a win for democrats who gave the trophy to republicans to go in congressman scalise's office. nbc news, washington. new from overnight, philadelphia police looking for a shooter who opened fire on a man outside a restaurant with a group of people nearby. this was around midnight at germantown and seymour. the victim is in critical condition. police said the shooting was captured very clearly on security camera from a chinese takeout that was open at the time. also new, one person in the
hospital suffering burns after fire ripped through a home in delaware county. nbc10 was on the scene in ardmore on east gulf view road. the fire broke out before 2:00. it is under control. checking our other top story that we're following -- a man previously arrested for showing up with guns at a property owned by president trump is back in custody. >> the u.s. attorney's office in d.c. says brian moles violated the condition of his release and returned to the capitol. a judge now says he must be held until trial and undergo psychological testing to see if he's competent to stand crime. moles is a doctor from erie county, p.a. authorities arrested him at the end of may after getting a tip of him making threats and traveling to washington to see the president. a judge will announce a verdict in the case of a massachusetts woman accused of sending her boyfriend dozens of texts urging him to kill himself. michelle carter is charged with manslaughter in the 2014 death of 18-year-old conrad roy. carter was 17 at the time.
prosecutors say that roy got scared while trying to kill himself, and carter sent a text urging him to follow through with it. you are looking at part of a new $300 million addition to penn station. it's in stark contrast to the older depot across the street. crews will soon begin replacing tracks and signals that run beneath the old facility. it's pride weekend in philadelphia. >> yeah. the festival is the largest celebration of lgbt pride in the region. it attracts more than 25,000 people every year. it all kicks off with a block party at 12th and locust in center city tonight. wristbands will be on sale at a $5 discount. the festival concludes with the philly pride parade at 11:30 through center city. the parade ends at the great plaza at penn's landing where the pride festival will be going on all day.
5:09. clouds this morning. we're waiting, a waiting game, for the showers to move in this morning. not widespread rainfall, but you see scattered showers now moving in from the west through central pennsylvan pennsylvania. this is light activity. there's a chance we'll see thunderstorms. from the west, some coming up from the south, too. 5:00 this morning, quiet to start. a slight chance of some scattered, light showers this morning at 8:00. we're seeing heavier downpours in central pennsylvania. this will go into the late morning hours. here comes the chance of rain for chester into berks county and lehigh and new castle county in delaware. the line moves into philadelphia at 1:00 this afternoon. then we'll see some breaks of sunshine in new jersey. clouds linger at 5:00. even a possibility of thunderstorms. that's at 5:00. becomes more likely with the next line from the west. later this evening, that's 9:00

from this point around 29, moving to the schuylkill expressway. average speeds there are into the 60s. smooth sailing on 202. the bridges are doing okay for the most part. at least there's no openings now over the tacony palmyra or the burlington bristol bridge. watch for construction on the westbound side of the ben franklin bridge. that means traffic that's moving into philadelphia, two lanes are closed now for that construction project. if that sticks around, that could be sticky once we get into the beginnings of the rush. also watching the blue route for this construction, northbound between st. david's and conshohocken. two lanes still closed. not seeing any delays because of it. back to you. 5:11. followed and attacked. what a thief was after and how it ended with an 82-year-old woman on the ground. daring rescue. a new jersey man pulled from a burning car with moments to spare. and it's caught on camera. and not monkeying around. why a race at a fair is now being called cruel and abusive by animal advocates.
you might recall the story of a car crash in florida and the police officers who pulled the driver to safety. >> now we have new video and information on the dramatic rescue. take a look. i got you. >> this police body camera video from february shows the officers rushing toward danger to get to the man trapped by flames. the officers worked quickly to rescue the man before the flames ignited. in several explosions, we've learned the driver is from new jersey. medics treated him for serious injuries. and animal rights groups are trying to stop this. monkeys dressed as jockeys riding dogs at fairs. the banana derby is making its latest appearance on long island. it features monkeys in jockey silks tethered to dogs with velcro. the ringmaster is a federally licensed animal exhibitor. he says he's taken care of the monkeys for years with no problems. opponents write the fair call --
