search for a motive. the man accused of a shooting spree across two states is now in custody. and communities are asking why he shot six people killing three of them. the deadline has arrived. cities across the country are battling it out to host amazon's next headquarters. the final push from leaders in oour area hoping for a win. and playing for free. one eagles player generosity soars above the rest and now he is talking about why he is giving it all away. >> you and i have been talking about this since yesterday. >> what great story that is. >> welcome to nbc 10 news today.

i'm tracy davidson. >> i'm vai sikahema. cool start yesterday but it warmed up. today much better. hey, glenn. >> the temperature is going up each morning allowing it to go up a little bit more each afternoon. we have the wind coming in from the southwest. the flag's blowing a little bit out there right now. that is going to push temperatures a little higher over the next couple of days. temperatures going up through the 60s in p.a. suburbs to near 70 degrees during the afternoon. 52 in philadelphia now. only 43 in mt. holly and 52 in coatsville. already starting to warm up there. the ocean temperature is 64 degrees, which is pretty warm for this time of the year. temperatures going into the 70s. nothing but sunshine. we'll see how long that lasts coming up. jess? >> glenn, we're watching 92 still and our cameras around the

p.a. turnpike just north of route 413 here. we have a crash involved and police activity on the scene. you can see a few vehicles here trying to get the situation under control. we're losing the left-hand shoulder. part of the left lane. so, again, this is the northbound side of 95 right around the bristol area. so, we'll see a little bit of a delay approaching the scene there. also watch agnew crash out in franconia on allentown road. and speaking of mass transit, well, we have a fire in west philly on kershaw street. that's partially blocking or at least blocking right now septa's route 10. new jersey transit all on or close to schedule. back to you guys. police describe the suspect as a person with no conscious. alleging he opened fire on his co-workers in maryland. nbc o10 was there last night as that suspect radee prince was taken into custody in newark, new castle county. prince shot six people.

five co-workers at his job in maryland. three of them died. he then drove to delaware and shot another man in a targeted attack. now, communities are asking why as we learn more about prince's criminal past. >> matt delucia is live for us at the wilmington police station. matt, tell us what is next for prince. >> well, radee prince should be facing a judge for his arraignment here in wilmington in the next few hours. but, let's walk you through the timeline here. we'll start with that first shooting that happened in edgewood, maryland. police there say the suspect, radee prince went into the granite warehouse where he worked and shot thrfive people, three were killed. some workers were only feet away when prince started shooting and here is the manager of that business talking about what happened. >> they were all family. we were working together for a long time and it's just it's just tragic. >> after that, an hour and a half later, the violence

continued here in wilmington at an auto sales shop. police say radee prince shot jason baul in the head and body. it wasn't until after 7:00 in the evening when the suspect was finally captured in newark. police say as he took off running from the agents, he tried to get rid of a handgun. once police got him in handcuffs, they took him right here to the wilmington police department. this morning folks in two states. maryland and delaware waking up relieved that this guy is off the streets and, as for that wilmington victim who was shot, we're told that he is in stable condition. expected to survive. we will be following this throughout the day. the big question a lot of people have is why did this happen. now live in wilmington, nbc 10 news. a tip led to radee prince's arrest in newark last night. officer s acted on the tip. one woman talked about what it was like to have police and

federal agents flood her neighborhood. >> i just pulled in to come home and then i look and i'm like, they're on our street. it happened here. they're right here. >> during the chase in delaware, police say prince tossed away a handgun which they did recover. police has a long rap sheet and he was arrested 42 times in delaware dating back to 2003. nbc 10 was the first to report his capture on the nbc 10 app and you can sign up now for that app and count on nbc 10 to continue to bring you continuing coverage of this story as we get new information. new this morning a shooting victim ran into a house where he collapsed and died. now police are looking for the shooter and the crime scene. investigators say the victim was shot in the chest, but they're not sure where it happened. officers are talking with neighbors to learn more. 5:35. happening today, the deadline has arrived. cities across the country and across our area are in an all-out fight to get amazon's

next headquarters and the 50,000 jobs that it will bring. those communities like philadelphia, delaware, mercer county, atlanta county and camden have to submit their pitches to the amazon giant. randy, philadelphia city leaders have been behind the huge push to bring hq2 here. >> and a number of experts have listed philadelphia as a top contender and today at 10:15 the mayor as well as other city leaders are holding a big event here at the barnes foundation after they officially submit their proposal to bring internet shopping giant here to philadelphia. amazon is looking to build headquarters number two somewhere with access to international flights with an educated talent pool. some are with good transportation and, obviously, looking for tax incentives, as well. now, philadelphia spent the past month or so putting together its proposal highlighting the city's diverse workforce. its affordable living in a

booming downtown and they sent out a video with local ceos who make the case that philadelphia's proximity to both new york and washington is a must-have. >> we're close to new york and close to washington. i spent a lot of time in d.c. on policy issues, so, let's just jump on the train and you're down there in less than two hours. >> i've been able to go to new york but why i chose philadelphia is because of value. >> seattle-based amazon is not going to make a decision until some time next year, but, again, we are seeing competing bids even in our area from places like camden and wilmington. coming up at 6:15, we'll talk about what delaware is announcing later this afternoon as it relates to their proposal. for now live in center city, i'm rand randy gyllenhaal. the candidates for district attorney between larry krazner

made his life as a civil rights and defense attorney. both are vying to replace disgraced d.a. seth williams who went from philadelphia's top prosecutor to prison inmate earlier this year after pleading guilty to bribery charges. on monday, prosecutors asked the judge to sentence williams to five years. he will learn his fate in a sentencing hearing next week. well, the process is entering a new phase in philadelphia. the sixers dropped their season opener to the wizards last night, but the philly faithful were out in mass on the road. ben simmons shined in his sixers debuted. markelle fultz made his debut. coach brown may restrict how much he plays and robert covington w covington who scored 27 points. the sixers go on to lose their

sunshine as soon as, of course, the sun rises. and we're going to be seeing that sun all day. 52 degrees in philadelphia. and 45 in lancaster, redding, allentown and 49 degrees in dover. 57 in atlantic city marinmarina. lehigh valley and burks county and 43 in allentown and 41 in white hall. that's pretty chilly. 43 in bethlehem and 42 degrees in easton. all of those places will warm up quickly within a couple hours. clear skies all up and down the east coast. all the way back to the middle of the country. no threat of any kind of significant changes coming. 72 in chestnut hill and 71 doylestown. and 70 cape may and 71 rehoboth beach. as we go through the weekend, we're going to be seeing a lot

of the same. except this is going to get a little bit warmer each day. little bit less cold in the morning. little bit warmer in the afternoon. by sunday, we're talking about upper 70s in much of the area and that is more than ten degrees above normal. we'll see how long that lasts. we have got a lot of sunshine over the weekend. we may very well stay dry on monday for the eagles game and that's another warm one. but we start to see the change next week. first with the rain and then with much cooler weather. >> all right, thank you, hurricane. about 19 minutes before 6:00 a.m. let's get a check of traffic right now. >> vine street expressway. jessica boyington is watching that for you. >> the vine looks good so far. right around 24th street is what i'm watching. westbound side moving towards the schuylkill expressway. so far so good moving through center city and schuylkill there and the westbound side looks good, too. we're still seeing light volume. a few crashes, though.

one out on allentown road and we've been watching another crash on lower merion right around rock creek road. route 10 right now is blocked due to a fire over in west philly. they're shuttle bussing passengers in both directions between lankcaster avenue and girard. the president denying claims he was disrespectful to a soldier's widow and now another gold star family is weighing in. the draft is moving on. philadelphia won't host the event again next year. the commissioner's reason for the move. sky high generosity. eagle player making a huge donation. why he told us he's giving up every paycheck this year.

it's 5:45 and following breaking news in west philadelphia. a row home is destroyed after a fire there. one woman is hurt. this is new video in to nbc 10 from the scene on kershaw street. we're working to find out that woman's condition. right now the route 10 trolley is blocked. septa is shuttle bussing and we'll keep you updated on the air and on our nbc 10 app. president trump is strongly rejecting claims that he was disrespectful to the grieving family of a fallen soldier. >> didn't say what that congresswoman said. she knows it. >> congresswoman frederica wilson fabricated the story and he has proof but wilson is standing by her account of the phone call. wilson claims the president said sergeant la david johnson "knew what he was signing up for when he joined the military." >> she was in tears.

and she said, he didn't even remember his name. >> meantime, the white house confirms president trump recently sent a check for $25,000 to another grieving military father after his son was killed in june, but that father says he has not received that payment. while dealing with that fallout, the president backed off support of a bipartisan deal to stabilize oobama care markets. earlier this week, president trump praised its approach and the deal includes subsidies to insurance companies to keep premiums low. the white house says the president will not support the deal now because of those payments. well, the nfl draft is not returning to philadelphia next year. instead, it's heading to dallas. however, roger goodell said philly raised the bar by holding it it outside near the art museum. when philadelphia broke attendance records during the first ever outdoor draft back in april. more than 250,000 people packed the area in front of the art museum steps. the estimated economic impact

for philadelphia was about $95 million. and this morning we're hearing from philadelphia eagles defensive end chris long about his decision to donate his entire salary to charity this year. long says it was a no-brainer. we caught up with long last night at the academy charter school in frankfort. he says his final ten game checks will go to making education more accessible for kids. long's base salary this year is $1 million. >> everybody needs resources and this means a lot and people get behind it. so, like i mentioned, i've already had an nfl player pledge $50,000 the rest of the season. >> a portion of the money will help kids in philadelphia and the rest will go to help young people in boston and st. louis. places where long had also played. long also gave six checks to scholarship initiatives in charlottesville where he grew up following the white supremacist riots. great thing to do. >> talk about putting your money where your mouth is.

glasgo marshalton 54 and middletown 48 degrees. farther to the south. 43 in lincoln and only 41 degrees in milton and look at the coast. 53 in at dewy beach. temperatures are all just about all going to be in the 70s today. even at the delaware beaches. it's 52 in philadelphia. 44 in pottstown and at atlantic city. clear skies up and down and extended the satellite picture out to the rockies, you'd still see very little in the way of clouds and certainly nothing in the way of rain. so, there is no threat as we go through the afternoon. 70 degrees by 3:00. low humidity. the wind not all that strong. so, it's kind of a picture perfect day all across the area, even at the jersey shore. temperatures getting up close to 70 degrees today. we have a massive area of high pressure to our west. keeping things dry.

overall, we've got warm weather from the rockies all the way to the east coast. this pattern is going to change next week. but we're seeing now not going to last indefinitely. it will last through the weekend, though. the temperature going up a little bit each day. for the afternoon, up a little bit. each morning and no rain. no real chance of rain until we get to early next week. and it looks right now like it may hold off until after the eagles game and wait until tuesday and into wednesday where we get the wet weather and use some rain and then the colder air comes in later next week. below normal temperatures then. >> glenn, thanks. let's get you to work on this thursday morning with a look at route 73 for starters. >> looking at south jersey. jessica, tell us what you see. >> so far so good. new jersey roads look great right now. you can see that behind me here on route 73.

he says it was a hard decision to leave the island, but he knew he had to do it. >> this journey was, is and will be for my daughter's sake. >> the superintendent there says teachers in the district are used to working with bilingual students. he anticipates the district will receive more evacuees in the months to come. right now new video of a carjacking in houston. a woman had to scramble to grab her 1 1-month-old niece when four man ran towards her minivan. one man threw, the other men shot at a car they had just run away from. one man died during the crime but the woman and the toddler, amazingly, not hurt. the new york city woman gave this warning to the thief who stole a pumpkin from the stairs outside her home. the woman decorated a replacement pumpkin with a message saying this home is

surveillanc surveillanced. we know you stole the other pumpkin. return it and we won't have you arrested. so far the stolen pumpkin hasn't been returned. good for her. >> good for her. >> maybe she will turn around that picture from the surveillance camera and take that. let's take you state by state and county by county. >> we begin in new castle county, want to find a thief recorded stealing packages. this surveillance video. earlier this month the man swiped two packages from the doorstep from an apartment of stanford drive and snatched more than $300,000 worth of items so far. the only thing that stands out is a thief is wearing a long sleeve shirt with a lawn care logo on the back. to atlantic county the owners say someone threw rocks at their shop, breaking some of the windows. the shop made a plea for help catching the vandal on social media. coffee shop plans to stay closed until those windows are repaired. in sussex county 2018 teacher of the year.
