he was released. he has now been rearrested and will be transferred to the police department. a man was relentless, grabbing on to a woman and refusing to let go this happened around 2:15 in the morning of sunday, august 2nd, and he follows the 24-year-old from mind, grabbing her, gagging her to the ground n front of an apartment building at 2508 west 132nd street near adam clayton boulevard, and you can see the man kicking and punching the woman, trying to steal her purse. the woman refusing to let go, but the suspect eventually gets her purse and iknown 5 and runs west to frederick douglas boulevard. the victim refused medical attention, but police are looking for the man in the surveillance video.
anyone who recognizes him is urged to call the nypd. janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. also new in morning, police in brooklyn are looking for the man who has been stealing jewelry the last few weeks. this man has struck six times since july 3rd. he coming up to the victim, rips their chain or bracelet off and takes off no one has been hurt during the robberies. >> john, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, chris and everybody. in the city, quiet. a few more clouds creeping in today, and that's hallmark of your city right now. a pair of 7s, and a southeast wind today, so humidity is high, but numbers will be down a bit in the mid-80s and above normal. north and west, you can seat green on the screen. not that much coverage.

reunited after she went missing for a week. >> valerie castro has exclusive her. >> reporter: rosie emerged from her estate to say her daughter was found on the jersey shore. she didn't want to talk an come are a but said 7 days she's been gone, and she's very memberrally ill. i asked if she was found with friends, and rosie replied, no, she doesn't have any friends. she's really not well. she was reported missing to police on sunday, and on tuesday, rosie tweeted pictures of her daughter and her therapy dog bear. what she suffers from has not been made public, but rosie said chelsea stopped taking her medication, and she's in danger. >> i can't divulge any further information.
>> reporter: one in five teens has a mental health disorder, and wandering away is not uncommon. later she tweeted chelsea has been found, and is safe in police custody. thank you all for the lying. she said it's not been easy for the mother of a child with a mental illness or for all her siblings. we have more video of a man wanted for raping a woman and knocking out two of her teeth. the suspect was caught on video in bed-stuy. he threatened to shoot the victim, and police say the suspect may have bite marks on his right arm. more on the story we told you about yesterday, the murder of a 79-year-old woman in her home.
her daughter is accused of killing her. susan grossman-kerner wore a hospital gown yesterday on her way to course. they were arguing over her bipolar medication, and she has battled mental illness for years. the judge ordered her held without bail. a massive fire destroys a building on property owned by the new york state freeway authority. flames came from a maintenance yesterday shed last night. there's no word on the cause. three people are missing after several landslides in alaska. the missing people are believed to workers at a residential construction site, and problems with the stability have hampered the search. there were several landslides in a coastal town which was hit by rain. the governor will tour the area
today to survey the damage. >> police in thailand believe the man in this surveillance image is responsible for the worst terror attack in the country's history. the man removes his backpack, and moments avenue he left, the bomb went off. 20 people were killed and more were hurt. the shrine was reopened today. another explosion happening today in bangkok. a man threw a bomb at pier, but it exploded in the water, and no one was hurt in the blast. mayor de blasio is promising to do something about the painted ladies of times square. they ask to get paid after posing for photos wearing nothing but a thong, body paint, and smile. times square visitors we spoke to said the painted ladies should leave. >> naked women should not be running around times square.

84 at lunchtime, feeling like 88, and you will see the heat index low to mid-90s around the area, and even with the temperature readings, it's the low 80s, and you can see green on the screen, and there's the front, and it's just now south of chicago, central illinois through texas, and early this morning, risk of severe weather. it's a slow mover, and we are anticipating thursday into friday and then it stalls in our area the isolated thunderstorm, buick we saw yesterday. one cell, brief flooding concerns, and then the steamy pattern. clouds are more of a feature tomorrow w wet weather, scattered showers here and there, and then, here it comes. there it is. thursday night into friday morning, and it will take its time pushing through the area.
we are concerned about the possibility of flooding, and remember, exiting low, it's going to sit and spin. we have to leave the chance of a shower into the forecast over the weekend. still a chance as late as sunday, even though the numbers are trending down. a lot to think about weatherwise, and plenty to think about trafficwise, too. >> on the road and rails, too, john. >> the fdr drive is in both directions blocking a lane, and unfortunately the northbound delays are the heaviest. no issues here on the interior streets. to the george washington bridge, inbound lower level, you're closed and not only here, but the lincoln and the holland tunnel as well. p.a.t.h. trains reported in the area, and service from the world trade center is reportedly suspended, and instead take the hoboken line to the new york city subways, and you should have a smoother commute.

janelle burrell is live in harlem with a shocking video. >> reporter: the confrontation was all caught on video tape you. can see the suspect follow the 24-year-old woman around 2:15 in the morning. the morning of sunday, august 2nd, drags her to the ground in front of the apartment building near adam clayton powell boulevard, and then you can see the man kicking and punching her, trying to steal her purse, but the woman refuses to let go. eventually the suspect makes off with her purse and iphone 5, and we have been talking to people who live nearby saying it's usually a quiet and relatively safe community. they were stunned by how brazen the suspect was. >> i walk out of my house all the time by myself at this time of the morning going to work. it's strange. >> now the victim did have minor injuries but refused

died after being run over by her own mother in an suv it happened around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, and police said the mother who reportedly thought her car was in park ended up backing over two children, and the second child a12-year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition, and the suv was removed last night. nearly naked and not exactly family friendly entertainment. >> the painted ladies of times square, and mayor de blasio says they have to go. diane macedo has more from times square now. >> reporter: chris and mary, good morning this early in the morning it's easy to get around times square, but if you come during the day, it's flooded with characters trying to get into photos and charging people for tips, and some say the painted ladies are taking it too far. >> reporter: they ask for money after posing for pictures with their thong, body paint, and a smile. >> naked women should not be running around times square.

answered my questions in a joint statement foxx, christie, booker, and menendez said "all of us are committed to working together on a path forward for this critical project." they said something has to be done now because of the aging infrastructure. >> reporter: how critical is this issue? >> i shown up today, right? >> reporter: so many commuters have been stuck in tunnels do, you think he should actually say something? >> he probably should, but he probably cares more about his presidential run than the constituents of new jersey. >> he seems indifferent. >> reporter: senator menendez instrumental to getting the money for the first project says the feds cannot the project alone. >> the fort authority has to
pony up from its revenues if it wants a new tunnel. obviously there's charges for people ultimately using the tunnel. >> governor cuomo was not at the meeting but said he supports the tunnel project but believes federal money is essential. the own ore a farm at old westbury long island, is accuse odd neglecting two animals. michael owns maran farms, and animals were malnourished with ribs visible. some were so hungry they were eating the wood from a fence. he was ordered to clean the farm and feed the animals, and he's due back in court next month. another democratic senator will be opposing the nuclear deal with iran. senator menendez says the obama administration could get a beter deal if congress rejects it. >> what we appear to have is a rollback of sanctions and iran

custody in east brunswick, and they said just before 3:00 a.m. on august 6th he entered the girl's home through a back door and assaulted her. he now faces extradition back to staten island. >> s and new this morning, police in harlem looking for the man caught on camera throwing a woman to the ground and robbing her. janelle burrell is live with the shocking video. >> reporter: chris, the man followed her, grabbed on, and would not let go until he got what he wanted, and all of it caught on this surveillance video. you see the man following the 24-year-old woman from behind, and then he makes the move. pouncing on her in front of an apartment building at 208 west 138th street, grabbing and kicking and punching her and trying to take her purse, and this happened around 2:15 on the morning of sunday, august 2nd, and you can see the woman does not give up easily, holding on until the suspect is
eventually able to pull the purse away, along with her iphone, running off west to frederick douglas boulevard, and police are searching for the man this morning, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, and as for the 24- year-old woman, she suffered minor injuries, but she refused medical attention here at the scene. anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance video is urged to contact the nypd. live from harlem, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. after a 1-week disappearance, the daughter of rosie o'donnell has been found and reunited with her mom. she later confirmed her 17-year- old daughter chelsea was found on the jersey shore, and she didn't want to talk on camera but told cbs 2 her daughter is mentally ill and previously posted the girl stopped taking her medication and was in need of medical attention. >> she does have a history of
mental disorders for which she takes medication for. beyond that, i can't divulge any further information. >> reporter: chelsea was last seen august 11th and was reported missing on sunday. a 10-year-old girl has died after being accidently run over by an suv driven by her own mother. investigators marked the scene on dark avenue yesterday. the mother reportedly thought the car was in park and ended up backing over two children. the second child, a 12-year-old boy is in serious season. the suv was removed last night. police in brooklyn are looking for the suspect who has stealing jewel friday people for weeks. this guy comes up to people on a bike, rips their chain or bracelet right off of them and takes off. his victims are 63 to 83 years old, and no one was hurt during the robberies. gun violence is on the rise
in newark. statistics show the shootings are up 65% this year, and there's been 101 incidents since the start of the year. the increase in shootings reverses the decline in the trend of violence across many new jersey communities. mayor de blasio is vowing to do something about the nearly naked painted ladies of times square. they are asking for contributions after posing with tourists. we just talked about this minutes ago. >> reporter: times square characters often get a bad rap for jumping into photos and soliciting tips, but some say the painted ladies are taking it too far, and money aside, they don't want to be near them. they are wearing just aing to, body paint, and a smile, but some tourists aren't smiling back. >> naked women should not be running around times square. >> i don't think it's the most appropriate thing with kids and tourists walking around, i don't. >> this mom from canada scanning her photos to make

cbs 2 news. >> reporter: in a new video this morning, a man is wanted for raping a woman and knocking out her teeth. surveillance cameras caught the attack early monday morning. police say he threatened to shoot his 52-year-old victim forcing her into the back stairwell. the suspect may have bite marks on his right arm. rosie o'donnell and her 17- year-old daughter have been reunited at their home this morning, and valerie castro has detail was a talking with her. >> reporter: rosie emerged to say her daughter chelsea was found on the jersey shore, and she didn't want to talk on camera, but she told me 7 days she's been gone, and she's very mentally ill. i asked if she was found with friends, and rosie replied no, she doesn't have any friends. she's really not well.

assault ed her. he was initially arrested on trespassing charges but was released from police custody before the alleged rape came to light. new this morning, police in harlem looking for the man caught on camera throwing a woman to the ground and robbing her. janelle burrell has more with the shocking video. >> reporter: the young man followed the woman here and grabbed on to her, did not let go, until he got what he wanted, it was all caught on surveillance video. you can see the man following the 24-year-old woman, and then he makes his move, pouncing on her in front of an apartment building at 208 west 138th street, grabbing her, kicking and punching her, trying to take her purse, and it all happened around 2:15 on the morning of sunday, august 2nd. but the woman does not give up easily. holding on until the suspect is eventually able to pull it away, along with her iphone,
running west to frederick douglas boulevard s police again this morning are -- and police again this morning are searching for the man. as for the 24-year-old woman she was left with minor injuries but refused medical attention. police are urging anyone who recognizes the man from the surveillance video to give them a call. reporting live from harlem, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. rosie o'donnell has been reunited with her missing daughter after a 1-week disappearance. she was seen at here south nyack estate. she confirmed her daughter was found on the jersey shore. she didn't want to talk on camera but said her daughter is mentally ill and previously posted the girl stopped taking her medication and was in need of medical attention. >> she has a history of mental disorders, and beyond that, i
can not divulge any information. >> chelsea was reported missing to police on sunday. a 10-year-old girl has died after being run over by an suv driven by her own mother, and investigators were scene marking the scene of the accident at drake avenue, happening around 4:30 yesterday afternoon. the mother who reportedly thought her car informs park end -- was in park ended up backing over two children. the suv was removed from the scene last night. police in brooklyn are looking for the guy who has been stealing jewel -- jewelry from people over the last few weeks. he comes up on a bike and rips the jewelry off. no one has been hurt during the robberies. statistics show shootings are up 45% this year, and there's been 161 shooting incidents from the start of the
